Gabapentin 600 mg at bedtime
if prescribed 600 mgs of gabapetin 3 times a day, is it ok to take all 3 at bedtime instead of during the day due to drowsiness? ## Hi rita, Depending on what you're taking it for, the usual adult dose is taken orally in 3 divided doses. If you do take it all at once (which you can), then I'd imagine you'd have to take more at some point in the day when it begins to wear off; thus making you take more than you are prescribed to take. Have you talked to your doctor about upping your dosage? ...

gabapentin 600 mg half discard
I had initially broken tablets in half and then read instructions to take at next dose or asap or throw away. I am afraid I jumped the gun in breaking them. Are these half pills less effective? Is there a danger? I have this need to know why discard. ## Yes, they do need to be used within a couple days of splitting them, they tend to lose effectiveness very fast, thus you do need to dispose of them. Side effects to this medication may include nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes and mood swings. Is there anything else I can help with? ...

Gabapentin 600 Mg Tablet Side Effects
my father came from work. sweating bad. and feeling bad from the medicine. 72yr male, with weakness in his legs and knee legs go out. and his in bad health. giving by the va hospital. help please. mary ## Norman, has he contacted the VA hospital and prescribing doctor about the problem, yet? Gabapentin can cause these types of side effects in anywhere between 1 to 7% of the people that use it. Since it sounds like they were pretty severe and caused him problems walking, its probably not the right medication for him, or it may be too high of a dosage. ## I am a diabetic patient. I complained of pain in the body and hardened hand movements. Doctor prescribed Gabapentin USP 300 mg Capsules for night and 100mg capsules for the morning. I do not know for what reason did he prescribe this. Is... ...

Gabapentin 2400mg per day
I have been taking Gabapentin 600 mg, 4x per day for a total dosage of 2400 mg per day to help keep the nerve endings on my bladder calm for the past two years. I have IC [interstitial cystitis]. I'm noticing now that I'm having great difficulty with my memory and just simply recalling words to use in conversation. I'm also having right, low back pain extending into the hip, thigh and lower leg with leg pain when sleeping. This pain is making it difficult for me to walk or sit upright. I stay extremely fatigued. I'm 42 and my uro took me out of work in Oct of 2011 and I don't see myself returning to work. I just wonder if the Gabapentin is helping or worsening my condition [since IC can lead to the above complaints] and if anyone else is having any similar problems. ... ...

Gabapentin and weight gain
I take 600 mg. of gabapentin (3) times a day for nerve pain. For me it has been a miracle drug. I do have difficulty if not almost impossible losing weight and have even gained some. It has been worth the trade off to be able to feel better. Does anyone know how to counteract this? ## Hi Agnes, Sorry to hear about your challenges with Gabapentin. According to the National Library of Medicine, rapid weight gain happens to be a general side effect of this medication. I'm not a doctor, but coming from someone with an athletic background, the best advice I can offer for counteracting it would probably be to follow a strict diet and exercise program. Something that you can commit to as long as you're taking the medication. I would also recommend drinking plenty of water (making that ... ...

Gabapentin and the elderly
My mother has been taking Gabapentin 600 mg, twice a day for several years. Recently her Dr. Lowered her dose to 300 mg twice a day. He said the FDA would not allow him to give her a larger dose because of her age, 93 years old. What can you tell me about this? ## It's been found that with some medications, such as Gabapentin, the elderly are more prone to experiencing side effects and/or severe complications. It has seriously endangered the lives of some of them, when their doctors weren't monitoring them closely, so the FDA has started a recent crackdown and can hold the doctors responsible for such harm. The concern has gotten so great, that many insurance companies are just refusing to cover the medications for anyone over 65, or so. Is there anything else I can help with? #... ...

It actually worked. I am going thru some major withdrawls and want to know if it is possible to get it without prescrip. I cant take it anymore ## I'm sorry to hear your Dr is being a ****! I had no idea Gab was a narcotic and that people were abusing it to the point the Dr felt it neccesary to rip it away from you so drasticly! Esspecially for something like fibro! I feel for you because I had a Dr that was prescribing Norco 10/325 1-2 tabs every 4-6 hours for herniated discs in my neck and lower back for close to a couple years. Is 100Mg morphine sulf er, 600 Mg gabapentin 3 aday, 4 dilaudid 4Mg, 1 ambian 10Mg,and 1 elival 50 Mg, aday to much? EVERY DAY ,THANK YOU! ## There is really nothing unusual about these dosages and dosage frequencies for someone who is obviously being treated for chronic pain. The only time it would really be considered too much is if you had suddenly jumped to these dosages, without ever having used them before. Really, the operative questions is, have these all been prescribed by the same doctor, so your usage and dosages are monitored? Morphine ER this is a generic for MS Contin, a time released tablet. Common side effects can include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Gabapentin, the active ingredient in Neurontin is an anticonvulsant also used to treat nerve pain. C... ...
