Gabapentin 300 Mg Side Effects

I am experiencing swollen ankles and feet with slight discoloration on top side of my feet more. Could gabapetin 300 mg be causing this problem. ## Based on my research, Gabapentin does list "swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs" as a common side effect. I'm not sure about the discoloration you mentioned, but it's very likely to be related to swelling/inflammation. I'm on 3000 mg a day and have been for 6 months for back pain. It affects me in various ways...forgetfulness, agitated but it helps with pain, is anyone else on this dose? ## That's the highest dose I've ever seen. I started taking Gabapentin and about 8 days later I broke out in red sores and pimples on my entire back and shoulders. I wondered if anyone has reported such a reaction to this drug. I am now experiencing my throat swollen, red, and scratchy with white pockets. I did stop taking the medication and the skin is slowly clearing but the throat is still bad. Please offer some education back gound on similar concerns to date. I take 100 ic gabapentin 3 times/day for sciatica. Now I find that my bladder leaks about once a week which is unnerving. Has this been reported as a side effect? ## Didn't give enough information about my bladder leakage. I've been taking one gabapentin 300 mg three times per day starting six days ago for severe spinal stenosis. It's been a miracle drug for me in terms of pain relief and makes oxycodone seem like a placebo. Unfortunately, starting two days ago I started to experience pronounced swelling in my legs and feet. I'm already taking 25 mg of hydrochlorothiazide for high blood pressure and I thought that would prevent any swelling but it hasn't. If I can deal with the swelling and being uncomfortable from it do I still have to go off the gabapentin? Are there any medical reasons I can't accept the swelling in order to have the benefits of the gabapentin? About 16 months ago, I was put on Gabapentin for sciatica. Eventually, I worked my way up to around 3000 mg per day and stayed at that dose for quite some time.. maybe 6 months or so. Here recently, I've slowly reduced it down to 1200 mg (600 mg in the morning and 600 mg at night) - My doctor says that Gabapentin shouldn't have any side effects. However, nothing else has changed with my medicines. Are the effects cumulative or do they dissipate after a while, I’m taking two 300mg pills a day. one moRniNG, one night? They were assigne for spinal stenoius and a hurneated disc and a slipped disc.they work some of the time,particularly in the morning and evening.i often skip them during the day when I am more physical and the pain lessens. So should I keep taking them regularly or only when I have pain. ## They work best when taken regularly, so the medication remains in your system at a constant level. I tapered off gabapentin two weeks ago but still feel stoned and have no get up n go. Lots of gas still as well. Is this normal and how long will it take to be lucid and energetic again? ## How long were you taking it, and how much were you taking each day? Did you taper off of it, or just stop it cold turkey? Those can be withdrawal effects of Gabapentin, according to FDA reports, along with rebound pain, rebound depression, and a risk of seizures if you stop cold turkey from high doses. Are you on any other medications? ## Took it for 2 1/2 months. 1200 mg for 1 1/2 months. 600 mg for two weeks then 300 mg for two weeks. Stopped after that. My father who is 79 was started on 300 mg of gabapentin, three times a day. After the 4th dose, he was having hallucinations, tremors, and became tachycardic and arrhythmic. Although the MD prescribing would not say stop the medication, his cardiologist advised immediately stopping. He continues to be lethargic, confused and although better, still has some tremors about 36 hours after taking his last dose. His heart rate is down to around 84 now.
