If I get symptom relief after one 25 mg tablet ;do I still need to step down the dosage or can I stop after 1 tablet ## Hello, Tony! How are you? You should follow your doctors instructions. Just because symptoms went away, that doesn't mean that problem has resolved, yet, so you may end up right back where you started, if you don't finish the medication. There can also be serious complications stopping a steroid suddenly. Are there any other questions or concerns?

I took double dose of prednisone 60mg in one day 9 hours apart for sinus infection. Should I be worried? ## I was given a 24 hr prednisone shot yesterday to help with my tight chest and coughing. They prescribed 60 mg for 3 days as I had been taking 40mg 2 days prior. I would like to split the dosage so I don't cough at night. I am also taking albuterol in a nebulizer every 4 hrs as the inhaler was not working as good as the treatments in the doctor's office. Can I split the dosage to 30mg twice daily so I can get relief from coughing while trying to get some sleep? I have taken the 48 pac of prednisone before and it was a graduated dosage by the cards they were on - the prescription I received today was in a bottle and did not have any instructions on how to take them like the ones in the pac. Can you help? ## Are you starting to come off the med? I think you have to gradually come off it. But this current bottle must have a periodic schedule for it, only all at the same dosage. I accidentally took two doses of prednisone today..this is my first day taking it and its 50 mg..first time was right bedore 9 am and accidentally at 6 pm i obly have diarrhea and am a bit light on my feet and in head...should i be ok? ## How are you doing? I have 20mg prednisone tablet 3 tabs daily x3days, 2tabs dailyx3 then 1 tab daily 3x daily. This is going to be 2 strong for me can it be cut down the dose or can I cut the pills.? I have taken the 4mg methylprednisolone before and that was strong . So I know that I will not be able to take this much. ## Hello, Frog! How are you doing? You really can't know that it's going to be too strong for you, if you haven't tried it and yes, it does need to be taken in high doses that are then tapered to properly treat some conditions. Tyenol PM or advil PM ## Can't sleep on prednisone what can I take yo)to. help me ## I would recommend staying away from the Advil/Ibuprofen, because it is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and taking it with the Prednisone can seriously increase the risk of developing stomach problems, such as bleeding ulcers. There are, however, no interactions listed between taking the Prednisone, with the Tylenol PM, which contains Acetaminophen and Diphenhydramine, but you may want to double check that with your pharmacist to be certain. Are there any other questions or comments?

What is the best time to take my 6 pills, i know i have to take it with food but should i take it first thing in the morning or wait till supper time. I see one side affect is trouble sleeping, so wondering if that can be avoided by when i take it. Also he has me taking it for 14 days at the same dose. I read you need to slowly go off this drug. From what I've researched anything less than 3 weeks usually doesn't need to be tapered, but you should check with your doctor to be sure. My 20mg prednisone tablets have no expiration date. How long will they maintain their potency and life stored at room temperature around 78 to 82 degrees in fairly dry conditions? ## Hello, Gerry! How are you? If they are still in the original sealed bottle from the factory, then they have a 3 to 4 year expiration date, if kept in a cool, dark, dry location, which would be less than the temperature you've mentioned. If they are in a pharmacy bottle, which exposes them to the elements that cause degradation, then the expiration date is one year from the date they were dispensed to you. This medication doesn't become dangerous, once expired, but it does lose efficacy over time, so they will not work as well as they did, when new. It would be best to dispose of them. I have had problems with my feet and legs swelling for over 10 years. Recently, I was placed on Prednisone by the doctor for possible RA. The fluid retention in my feet and legs have gone down considerably. I know that this is not the normal side effect taking this medication. Could you possibly tell me the ingredient that could be causing this?
