Is Keflex from a veterinarian okay for human consumption? ## Hi Lilianna, Keflex is a medication that contains the active ingredient Cefalexin; which is used to treat a number of infections including: otitis media, streptococcal pharyngitis, bone and joint infections, pneumonia, cellulitis, and urinary tract infections. I know that this medication is prescribed by doctors as well as veterinarians, however I don't recommend taking any medication that wasn't prescribed to you by your doctor. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Keflex Details I hope this helps!

I read somewhere on the internet that you can use urbanol for dogs. If a dog has a neurological proplem and it's muscles keeps on contracting, can urbanol be used for the dog in 0,5mg doses once a day and will it help? Or is there something else that can help?

Val-Torb was given to my mini doxie for a chronic condition. He weighs 16 lbs and the dosage was 1.5mls 3 times a day but it made him horribly sick and shaky. As soon as I took him off he was OK. Has anyone out there had a problem with this medication? ## What this stands for is Valium, which is a Benzodiazepine that's used for its calming effect and Torbutrol (Butorphanol), which is used to relieve pain. I don't know what the dosage should be for canines, because veterinary medications are not my speciality, but it sounds like it may have been too much of the Torbutrol for him. Have you contacted your vet? A lower dose or different medication may be necessary. ## How long is Val/Torb good for? ## What long term side effects doa dog get when given Val torb long term ## I have yo...

What are the side effects of this drugs in dogs? Is lose of appetite one of them? ## Hello, Based on my research, the Tussigon (Hydrocodone bitartrate + homatropine methylbromide) could possibly cause a dog to lose his/her appetite due to the fact that one of the common side effects is nausea/upset stomach. It is not uncommon for medications to cause these kinds of issues in humans and animals. If you have a dog that is experiencing a loss of appetite, I would contact a veterinarian as soon as possible. I hope this helps! ## My dog lost her appetite when taking Tussigon. She also had problems with her bowel movements which I attributed to her eating so infrequently. ## Unfortunately my little Angel died on February 7th. She would have been 15 on July 1st. I wish everyone success with th...

This is a steroid that is used to treat various medical conditions, such as inflammation, and allergic reactions. It may cause weight gain, and nausea as side effects in dogs. How are your pups doing?

I have an 11 year old pomeranian who suffers from a collapsing trachea that has progressed to retaining fluid around her heart. Our vet is Johnny Clark of Luray, VA, phone # 540-743-7387. He currently is treating her with 5mg of lasix, 50mg of aminophylline, and 5 mg of torbutrol daily. The 5mg of torbutrol cost $3.50 per tablet. I have Pota Vi Kin 400,000 U tablets. Can I give to my 40lb. cocker spaniel? He has a bacterial eye infection. If so, how much should I give him? How often and how many days? ## This is not an antibiotic, what you have listed is a potassium supplement that is used to treat, or prevent potassium deficiencies. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, and stomach pain, due to the potency, so they should only be taken with food. What medication has your vet prescribed for your pup? It would be best to follow their instructions on what to give your dog. Have they confirmed your pup has a bacterial eye infection?

oval shaped I mg alprazalom scored on one side with inscribed with I believe 2089 and v underneath is this safe for humans ## Hello, Barbara! How are you? Yes, this is safe for human consumption. It is manufactured by Qualitest Pharmaceuticals and could be one you'd receive from your pharmacy, if you went in to have a prescription filled. The FDA classifies thus education as a Benzodiazepine and it carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. However, you should not take it, if it has not been prescribed for you. Is there anything else I can help with?

Why can't I find this drug..?? ## Hello, Scott! How are you? Tussigon does require a prescription, but most pharmacies should have it, if your veterinarian has written one for you. However, if your pharmacy doesn't have it, then your veterinarian most likely will, since they prescribe it frequently. One of the active ingredients in it is Hydrocodone, which is a narcotic and that's why it requires a prescription. Side effects for dogs can be similar to those in humans and may include nausea, drowsiness and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Does val torb syrup make a dog rest better? And does it have side effects? ## Torb/VAL syrup is the opioid Torbutrol (butorphanol) dissolved in V.A.L. syrup. It's usually prescribed to treat mild pain. The V.A.L. syrup is also said to contain B-vitamins, but I've heard that it is mostly added to hide Torbutrol's bitter flavor. As far as side effects go, central nervous system effects (such as sedation, confusion, and dizziness) are considerations with butorphanol. Nausea and vomiting are common. Less common are the gastrointestinal effects of other opioids (mostly constipation). If your dog has been resting a lot more than usual, it's likely due to the sedative effects of the medication. It can often make the animal extremely drowsy so be careful with its use. If need be...

My chihuahua had uterine surgery, was given a tannish round pill with quarter lines in it with the letter P in one corner and a #1 in the lower corner. The name on the bottle says bayful #22 or barfud #22? Not sure what they gave her or what it was for?

What is the cost for 20 Hydrocodone 5mg tabs (Tussigon)? ## Hi Gayle, I believe the price is going to vary somewhat depending on your location and which pharmacy you get it filled at. However a lot of the information I'm seeing on Tussigon leads me to believe that it will probably cost anywhere from $15 to $35 for a quantity of thirty 5mg/1.5mg tabs; depending on whether or not you utilize a prescription drug discount card like the one MedsChat offers here: Rx Savings Card. I hope this helps! Does anyone else here have feedback on the cost from a recently filled prescription? ## Yes. I just paid $55.75 for 21 tablets of hydrocodone (Tussigon) 5 mg. At the vets office. Can I get cheaper anywhere else? ## If you have a Rite Aide in your area - ask if they'll special order it for y...

My 60lbs.dog has an abscessed tooth . I'm.currently unemployed and cant.afford to take her to a vet. My question.is " Can I give her my 500mg kaflex and if so, how much and how often?" ## Hello, Kristi! How is your pup? I'm sorry that she's in pain. Many dogs are given a dosage similar to that which people are given, 500mgs twice a day, but only your veterinarian can say if it is safe for your dog to take. Additionally, a dental infection is usually due to some underlying issue, such as a loose tooth or cavity, which an antibiotic will not remedy, so it will require veterinary treatment, or the infection will keep returning. Side effects in canines are similar to those experienced by people and may include nausea, drowsiness, diarrhea and skin rash. Is there anything...

Can I use this for my dogs ear infection? If I can how much per day and for how long? thank you ## Hi Cin, Are you referring to Cephalexin perhaps? If so, based on my research this medication is an antibiotic that is used both in dogs and cats to treat bacterial infections. Side effects can include (but are not limited to): diarrhea and vomiting. The dosage for your dog should only be determined by your veterinarian to be sure you don't give him/her too much or too little. The dosage can vary depending on certain factors like weight, severity of the condition, and medical history. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Cephalexin Details Do you have any more questions?
