Has your partner ever been treated or tested for it? Diflucan and Fluconazole are the same, Fluconazole is just the generic form. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach pain.

My doctor precribed 3 day 150 mg fluconazole for intestinal yeast (plus 2 refills). Is 3 days enough and when should I take the rest? Thanks ## The dosing varies, depending on the infection being treated and the severity of it, many cases only require one dose, but since your doctor prescribed it for 3 days, it's a fairly good guess that the infection is pretty problematic and they want to make sure to wipe it out. As to when to use the rest, unless they instruct you to do so, they probably just prescribed them as in case measure that aren't intended to be used. Some doctors will do this, so if the first round doesn't completely clear it up, they can just have you run to your pharmacy for another refill, rather than have to go in for another appointment. Are there any other ...

when is the best time of day to take fluconazole? I have to take 5 doses of 100mg every other day, I just really wish I knew what to expect after I've taken this med, I hate side effects.. I've taken it before but just 1-pill after taking antibiotics but 5 of them has me worried!! ## Hello, Tracy! How are you? There is no real best time of day, it really just depends on you. If it makes you drowsy, you may want to take it at night, or if it makes you nauseous, you may need to take it after a meal. The exception would be if your doctor has specified a specific time you should take it. Other side effects may include flatulence, rash, headache and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was prescribed fluconazole for a yeast infection after taking antibiotics. I took the first dose two days ago 150mg. The prescription says to wait 3 days to take the second dose but I am still experiencing the symptoms and want to take it early. ## Hello, Sarah! How are you? For the best results, it is best to follow the prescribing instructions. The medication will not clear it up and alleviate all the symptoms immediately, it will take several days to work. Most prescriptions are just for one tablet, not two. The FDA classifies Fluconazole as an antifungal medication and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. I took 2 pills in one day and the dosing instructions state that I should take 1 dose and repeat in 3 days. I took one the night before. Please advise. ## While only 2 pills should not cause any overdose dangers, except in certain rare cases, such as being allergic to it, or it interacting with other medications, you should always double check with your doctor, or pharmacist. Additionally, your doctor may want to prescribe another dose to be taken at a later date. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach pain. How are you feeling? Did you experience any issues?

I would like to know any and all side effects to this particular medication. I have been experiencing stomach ache, headache, low backache, palpitations, taste, nausea. Are these normal side effects? and if not, should I stop taking them. Of course, you can't reach a doctor over the weekend. I have taken 9 doses in 10 days. I forgot to take my normal dose on Friday night and felt great the next day but took one last night when I realized that I had missed a dose, and woke up in the middle of the night feeling sick again. This has been going on for the last 3 or 4 doses. The reaction usually occurs 4-6 hours after taking the pill. ## You poor thing, I only had to take 2 doses of it. I can't imagine taking it for that long. The pharmacist had told me it could make you feel sick an...

If I wanted to take a pill form instead of the liquid, what would 1.5ml convert to in pills? How many mg's would I need to take? ## Without knowing how much is in that 1.5ml, no one would be able to answer your question. The 1.5ml is just a liquid measurement. There should be some other information on it, such as the dosage per 5mls, or something similar, it may be in the form of two numbers like this 5/1.5 or 5/5. Can you please post back with more specifics? Thanks!

I'm almost done with the AMOX then prescribed fluconazole. Is it safe to take together? ## Yes, Fluconazole is often prescribed when someone is prone to getting yeast infections from an antibiotic. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi, instead of taking the capsule orally, I misunderstood the instructions and took them vaginally instead, as my previous medication had usually been taken vaginally. Is this dangerous? Do I need to go see the doctor? ## You should consult your doctor, but it's most likely not dangerous. However, if it wasn't intended to be used as a pessary, you may not have absorbed enough, you may have caused a different type of an infection, or you could have absorbed too much. It's hard to say without knowing the specifics of which one you took. Was it for a vaginal yeast infection?

Hi, I took an antibiotic in May, then Amoxicillin in June, plus Metrol. I recently developed Oral Trush and now I'm in my 5th day with Fluconazole, (14 capsules). But today my doctor gave me Sulfamethoxazole/TMP DS. I'm not sure if that's ok? ## Sulfamethoxazole with TMP (Trimethoprim) is another antibiotic, so it will not help with thrush, it can actually cause it, as a side effect. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, diarrhea, joint aches, and muscle aches. Are you still fighting a bacterial infection?

I am currently using fluconazole while a orthopedic (hip) spacer is in my leg following a severe infection that formed in my prostetic hip.Due to my inability to walk(toe touch only),I have gained weight ,but have also developed two staph infections in my foot and theigh,,,,,is this normal? ## I wouldn't say any type of infection is normal, since they have the potential to be dangerous. As to the Fluconazole, it is an antifungal medication, so whether or not it will help depends on the specific type of infection you have. When treating staph, it is usually used in combination with other medications. Ref: Medline Plus Fluconazole The FDA warns that Fluconazole may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and diarrhea. Are you on any other medications?
