Fill After Date On Script

North Carolina is a strict state also but will fill 3 days early at most mainstream pharmacies, if it's been at least 30 days since the last fill regardless of what the doctor wrote as the refill date. ## Thanks for sharing this important information. I always thought doctors were the ones who had the most amount of control over the refill date; but I can understand how (in certain rare cases) it may be helpful to grant a pharmacist permission to make such a fateful decision on behalf of their own whit and whim - e.g. if a doctor is out of town on vacation and/or the patient is undergoing withdrawals & various circumstances of that nature... It's just a little disturbing though when pharmacists abuse this power to their fullest extent, rendering some doctor's pain script...

I just got a prescription filled for oxycodone 10 milligram On the 18th I have another prescription hard script written for the 21st will I be able to go to a pharmacy and pay cash for that ## If you're next fill is due should be fine. Most pharmacies/states allow 3 days before next fill. Also depends upon your relationship with the pharmacy/rph. Depends upon a lot of things. Just be honest and look presentable. ## If it is the same dosage, same medication and within just a few days of each other, then no and it won't matter if you're paying cash or not. Controlled substance prescriptions are reported to the government and logged in a central database, so once punched in the computer, it would come up that you've just had one filled. Help, need post dated script filled today surely someone in ft worth can help me with this. WD sucks ## Hello, Lucy! How are you? I'm sorry, but it would be illegal for a pharmacy to fill one, before the time it is dated to be filled. I wish I had better news for you, but I don't. The pharmacist that did so, could lose their license and may face fines and jail time. If you're running out early, it would be best to speak to your doctor to let them know that the current dosage isn't handling your pain. What medication are you taking?

If my script states "may fill on 11/30", is that the same as "do not fill until"? Just wondering if I could pick up before 11\30. Thank you ## Hello, Ladybug! How are you? Yes, it would be considered the same by most pharmacies, according to the DEA prescribing directions. Is it a controlled substance? Those are typically the ones that doctors write that on. Generally, it may be done with some opiates, stimulants and benzodiazepines. ## Thank you for replying! Yes, it is for my pain med. He had never wrote that before so I was a little confused. I didn't know if they would except it today or not. I am actually due to fill today but he messed up with the 30th date on it . The office was closed to get it corrected. I'll just have to wait i guess. Thanks again ## Ye...

I have stage 3 lung cancer and i am prescribed oxycodone 30mg. My doc did not put a fill by date on my prescription. May I fill early? ## Just because he didn't put that date on there, doesn't change when you can have it filled. Pharmacies keep track of the days supply each prescription should provide and it is very strict, when it comes to controlled substances. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. I am very sorry about your lung cancer. If your current dosing isn't handling your pain, you should speak to your doctor, you are among those on the exceptions list who can be prescribed more. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have had my ...

My Dr wrote the wrong date on my prescription for Norco and scratched it out and wrote the correct date above it. I have been on this medication and using this pharmacy for years. Will they give me a problem filling it? ## Take it to your normal pharmacy a day of two early...from your fill date...& not on sat when they can't call your doc. Tell the pharmacy about the mistake , even though they will have to call your doc to confirm your script anyway, especially if its a controlled medication.

I am prescribed 60 of the 20mg Adderall IR a month, and last time I saw my prescriber, he gave me three written prescriptions for 60 of the 20mg, all of them say "earliest fill date: March 9, 2017". Can I fill them all at once? I already filled one of the three, covered by insurance, on the 9th. Can I fill the other two whenever I want if I paid cash? The reason I'm asking is I've never seen the three scripts all have the same date in which they can be filled (they used to say "fill 4/9/17" and "fill 5/9/2017", for example). Also I'm going on a vacation with my family next week so I'll need to have a vacation override anyway. I'm in WA state. ## Jade, No, there are no longer prescription overrides on controlled schedule narcotics of the CII ty...

I got my Norco script filled on 06-01-2015. 1 every 4 hrs for pain. 90 count. What date can I present a new script for the same med? ## Hello, Pappy! How are you? Does it say every 4 hour as needed for pain? If so, then this was most likely intended to be a one month supply. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I filled my prescription 3 days after the doctor wrote it. It has a refill. Can I get my refill based on the written date or the fill date? The script was written on 6/9 with 1 refill after 7 days and the script was filled on 6/13. Can I get my refill on 6/15 or 6/19? ## No, the pharmacy will keep track and will not fill it according to the old schedule, they will go by the fill date, since you shouldn't be out, yet. Under current FDA and DEA guidelines, exceptions can usually be made for medications that are not considered dangerous, or habit forming, such as heart medications, or blood pressure medications, but even the final decision on that is up to your pharmacist. What medication as prescribed?

Hello, I take lorcet 10/325 every month my General physician just changed my script to allow me to take every 4-6 hours as needed with the quantity of 150 pills for chronic pain on 9/9/16 and I was wondering when i could get them filled if I took 6 a day on my really bad days where I would wake up at night and could not fall back to sleep without taking that 6th one from time to time. This is the first time it was filled this way and he also wrote me a second one to have filled this month. I figured this would be ok but now realize I might come up a couple days short. So what would be the earliest I could get them filled? Thank you for your time ## Hi, most pharmacies will fill your script up to 3 days early from the date your last script was filled. For example if you filled last month...

My meds were taken have post dated script for more but need someone to fill it in the ft worth area. (hydracodone) ## Hello, Blackie! How are you? I'm sorry about what happened. However, it would be illegal for a pharmacy to fill such a prescription early, under the current DEA regulations. Did you report the incident to the police? If you have such proof, your doctor might be able to help you by authorizing an earlier refill. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I live in Somerset Ky. I have a pre written prescription of hydrocodone 90 10/325. I will be working in Franklin Indiana when my refill is due way into past refill date. I would like to know if Ind will fill that Ky script? Thank you ## Yes, technically you can, however, most pharmacies will not fill them, because it is difficult for them to validate it to ensure it is a legitimate prescription. You may want to try speaking to someone as your current pharmacy to see if they have an affiliate in that area, as they may be able to smooth the way for you to get it filled. The FDA warns that narcotics carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I am moving to Florida from New Jersey in dec my Dr writes my scripts for oxycodone 15 mg and oxycontin 20 mg for two weeks and gives me both of them post dated to fill 2 weeks later for 2 more weeks bc of my insurance will I have trouble filling the post dated scripts from Jersey in Fl when I get there ? ## Hello, Jamie! How are you? Yes, you most likely won't be able to get them filled. Most pharmacies won't touch out of state prescriptions, because it's much harder to verify their validity. Supply problems have also caused many pharmacies to have to restrict their customer base to only people who live within a certain radius of their store and whose doctors are also located within a certain radius of their store. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be...

I have a repeat script dated 2 nov 2010 . Will I still be able to get it filled ## Have you tried asking a local pharmacist? I'm not sure what the laws are for you. In the U.S. refills are only good for a year after the original prescription is filled, but I'm not sure what other countries ascribe to that. Does anyone else know? ## Thanks for your reply. Yes it's the same here in Australia. I was just hoping I could have filled it over our Easter vacation with all doctors were off duty but no luck! ## I have a prescription that says 1 refill before 4/20/17. Can I still fill it?

Since I've filled my old script of Xanax, I now want to switch to my new script of Valium? Both are dated for the same day? Is that allowed? ## It just might be. If your Doctor changed your medication or added some more, even though they are in the same family it should be allowed ## What Eddy said is correct, usually a change in the dosage, or medication itself is allowed, but your pharmacist should be able to let you know for sure, since these are controlled substances, it might be different. The FDA warns that Xanax, and Valium both carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, and mood changes. I have a prescription for Norco 4x a day, 120 pills total. The dr has written it for 20 day supply. When would be the soonest I could submit my refill? She wrote the refill for December 15th, last month I filled it on the 20th. Would I have to wait until the 20th again or can I submit it to CVS on the 15th? ## Anna, If the doc dispensed #120 with a sig. of one qid that's a 30 day supply. You'd have to wait 30 days from the filled on date so the 20th would be your available date. ## Do u get the norco 853's and 120 a month? I was wondering if i could ask my dr. to up my script from 90 to 120 a month because they dont seem to be working that good. Is this possible? ## @Craig - Yes, it is definitely possible. However.... I have an appt. with a new doctor on Thursday (just moved) and am going to see if we can increase my dose from 30mg ir to 30mg xr and 10mg ir for the afternoon. My previous doctor, who is now out of state, wrote me two scripts with "do not fill until" dates so I would have time to find a doctor. I just filled the last one this past week. Obviously, I will tell my new doctor this and have my records faxed to his office. If he does increase my dose/change the type, will he write me a new script for the xr's to be filled? My body doesn't take well to these instant releases anymore-literally crash everyday by noon & feel lethargic the rest of the day with all focus out the window. P.S. I've had my adderall prescriptions filled at Walgreen's religiously forever so...

I would like to know the laws on a Physician in Louisiana being able to Fax a Prescription to a Pharmacy for a Schedule II drug. I gave a neighbor a ride to her Dr.'s appt. and she needed to fill her scripts however she was a few days early so her Medicaid Coverage stated that it would not be covered until 4 or 5 days later. With this knowledge she chose to simple pay for 25 of them and by law "Kill" that original Script and therefore losing 35 out of the 60 prescribed! The Pharmacy stated that her Dr. could fax the remaining of the script and when the Medicaid Fill date came around she could then have the remaining tablets filled.
