What are the best medications to treat fibromyalgia? I am always hurting somewhere on my body. Especially my back, knees, and hips. I am so exhausted. I wake up every morning feeling like I didn't sleep at all. My doctor gave gabapentin 600mg 3 times a day. They don't work and neither does lyrica. I am just so tired of the pain. I also have trouble walking when my knees, back and hips hurt. Any info you can give me would greatly appreciated. ## There is really no best medication that I can mention, it can vary from person to person. The medications you've mentioned you've mentioned are great examples, they don't work for you, but they do work well for many others that try them. The NIH states the some antidepressants can help, such as Cymbalta or Savella. Have you tr...

Looking for a doctor in my area that will write pain meds. I''ve been on so many for so long and mine got stolen at the race track in Bristol,Tn. They released me from the program. I've tried coming off of them but so sick that I feel like I'm gonna die. I live in Damascus, Va. I'm willing to travel but i need help. PLEASE! ## I also have Fibromyalgia I used to go to Arthritis Associates in Kingsport tn. They have 3 Doctors there that only focus on Fibro patients and they will write controlled substances. My Doctor that I saw there was Dr. Bowen and she moved and when her replacement came in she kicked a lot of us patients out. But Dr. Morris is wonderful and he will care for you and he will listen to you.

50yr old male. Diabetes, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, assorted arthritis, chronic/severe pain. Motorcycle accident in 1985/ lost use of right arm. Now weighs 163 down from 200 in a period of 8yrs. Struggles daily with PAIN. ## Hello, Kathy! How is he doing? I'm sorry, but this is an information only website, there is no one here that gives a diagnosis and prescribes any treatments. Is he under a doctor's care? He most likely does need some type of pain management.

I've been suffering from chronic pain issues since 2006. I recently started going to a new clinic since January of this year. I have fibromyalgia, spinal stenosis, herniated discs, neck issue's, spine problems that start from my neck down my upper middle and lower spine, nerve damage in my left arm that starts from my neck down my upper arm and in the hands & fingers. The pain is horrible and never goes away, this includes my entire body, along with insomnia, depression, anxiety, RA, arthritis, carpal tunnel and from time to time it causes shooting pain in my legs. Also for my anxiety I get 90 clonazep g and methacarbamol for back spasms. So far this regime seems to help but 6 dilaudid a day along with 1 30mg oxycontin and 1 kadian are barely getting me through the month. I ...

Hi, I've been taking norco 10/325 for a couple of years now for fibromyalgia and chronic back pain, tendonitus and siatica. I'm prescribed 90/month. But my pain is not being managed. I have high tolerance I guess., but im afraid to ask my dr. if he will prescribe 120 a month because 3 a day is just not cutting it at all. but i dont want him to get mad at me. Is he even allowed to prescribe more than 90 a month? or what is something that maybe lasts longer than the norco does? It seems these only help my severe pain for a couple of hours then it starts back up again. my quality of life is really diminishing. ## Hello, Sarah! How are you? If you want something that lasts longer, it might be best to speak to your doctor about trying a time released medication, such as Oxycontin. It...

I have been taking various opiates for pain management for about four years now. Pain management for me has been a very touchy balancing act. If any small change is made, my pain can go "out of control". I have several conditions that are occurring at the same time, I have been told that opiates do not help with the Fibromyalgia pain (but I have found that opiates help mine). Opiates definitely help the pain caused by other conditions. Does anyone have information on how opiates that you have taken for over five years are now effecting you? ## Most people I know who have fibromyalgia say that exercise is the best cure for their symptoms. So in the event that those meds ever stop working for you, due to a high tolerance/side effects/etc., that may be something to take into consid...

Have tried Lyrica, Gabintin,Cymbalta,Prozac. Only Percocet with a little Valium seems to help a bit. That is starting to become ineffective.Cant exercise due to incompletely diagnosed back issues pending an MRI. What else can I do or try? I am losing mind from constant pain! Please help... ## Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, so it may be the Oxycodone that's helping you. It is available in higher doses in both regular and time released formulations, without the Acetaminophen. Have you ever asked your doctor about trying it? ## Sorry for not answering sooner. Forgot I o posted this thread! I guess it's the Fibro Fog. Anyway my dr won't go past the level of Percs unless I go to Pain Management dr. Tried that once & they treat everyone like junkies. Has anyone...

I have been in PM since 1994 and had to scratch my way through the medicine cabinet along with submitting to a kazillion different tests, therapy, the works. I wear 100mcg fentanyl patches, take 10/325 Norco for breakthrough pain, 6 mg tizanidine four times a day, 100mg trazadone at bed and bupropion 150 SR twice a day. I also suffer depression when my pain goes uncontrolled. I cannot take Cymbalta, Lyrics, gabapentin, desipramine, and SSRIs do NOTHING for me. I have had an rx for Lorazepam three times a day for as long as I can remember, but hate them! Have a script for 90 I filled in January and it's barely touched. I only take one when I am about to burst or my last nerve is standing on en...

Anyone know any pain management doctors in Yankton South Dakota? I have fibromyalgia, arthritis, DDD, spinal stenosis and two bulging discs in my back. In winter the pain becomes unbearable due to the cold. My GP prescribes me 30 x 5mg hydrocodone a month. My old pain doctor gave me 4 x 10 mg a day, but I am no longer close to her.

I take this for fibro and back pain (had 2 back surgeries) also have lot of nerve pain. It only takes the edge off. I can’t imagine what it would be like to get some real relief from this pain. I don’t look like anything is wrong with me. My skin and muscles hurt too. At my age of almost 78 I doubt anything else will be done but it is so depressing that I can’t do much at all because of pain. ## I am so very sorry that you are suffering so much. What type of doctor are you seeing for your pain? You might be better off seeing a pain management specialists, as they are specially trained to help with pain, and they will also know how your age may affect any medications that you may take. Please forgive the length of this post. I recently had an appointment at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center in Lynnwood. I have been a pain management patient for over 4 years now. Multiple spinal issues, fibromyalgia, EBV, and TBI to name a few problems I have. I moved to the Cleveland from another state I am very concerned with what the protocol at this location. If you are looking to continue your pain management meds, you can bypass this institution. The spin you'll get is "the cutting edge rehab alternative therapy" lecture. The deer in the headlights was my response. To say I was upset is an understatement. The fact I had to resign from my federal job because I simply could not keep performing with unrealistic expectations. After hearing the rehab speech the only t...

Can Trazadone be used to treat a chronic cough like amitriptyline? ## Based on my research Trazodone is indicated for: Clinical depression with or without anxiety. Insomnia, Fibromyalgia, to aid in sleeping. Control of nightmares or other sleep disturbances. Amitriptyline can also be used as a sleeping aid in small doses. I did not know either of them had an off label use for chronic cough? correct me if I'm wrong, but I personally haven't seen anything stating otherwise. That said, I don't think it is specifically indicated to help with coughing; but if you personally find that it has been working for you then I'd advise you to contact your doctor who prescribed it, to give you the OK to continue using it for that. To view detailed information about Trazodone, please cl...
