I've been prescribed Se-Tan PLUS after having surgery for colon cancer. This is in capsule form. Upon renewal, "Ferrous Fumarate" 324 mg. tablets were substituted. Is there equivalency between these two prescriptions? Thanks ## They are both the same, the new one you've received is just a generic for Se-Tan. This is an iron supplement used to treat, or prevent anemia. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, funny taste, constipation, and dark stool. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am first timer taking oral contraceptives like trust pills and I started to take it 2 weeks after my menstruation period. And now my period does not come on it's exact date (this month), but I have 10 more tablets including 7 ferrous fumarate. I would like to know the after-effects of Livogen captabs, manufactured by Merck labs ## Livogen is a nutritional supplement that contains Ferrous Fumarate (Iron) and Folic Acid. Thus, it hasn't really been tested for side effects, as is done with actual prescription drugs, but the iron has been known to cause constipation and dark stool in some people that take it. Iron is a supplement that you do have to be careful with, because too much of it can as dangerous as not enough.

How long (duration) before the level of iron is reached as required by the human body? ## Livogen-Z contains 152mgs of Ferrous Fumarate, 750mgs of Folic Acid and 61.8mgs of Zinc, it is normally prescribed to be taken once daily. However, what has your doctor instructed? It may vary depending on the severity of the deficiency. Since so much of it just passes though, isn't there a better form to take that comes chelated or is absorbed better? ## Have you tried asking your doctor or pharmacist? What you do you mean by it just passing through? This is a nutritional supplement that contains Vitamin C, Folic Acid, Cyanocobalamin and ferrous fumarate. However, it really doesn't matter what it is, even when it comes to prescription drugs, there are only certain amounts that your body can absorb and use.

I have been on loestrin 24fe for about 8 years now. I loved it. No period and no problems with weight gain. Now that I have had to switch I am moody and gaining weight.
