## I HAVE TAKEN FENTANYL TRANS PATCHES FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW, DUE TO ENDOMETRIOSIS. BEWARE WHEN YOU GO INTO HOSPITAL, YOUR BODY COULD BUILD UP A RESISTANCE TO MORPHINE. MINE DID AND ON THREE OCCASIONS. DOCTORS DIDNT LISTEN WHEN I TOLD THEM MORPHINE DIDNT WORK, LEFT IN AGONY ON ALL OCCASIONS. ONE TIME IT WAS FOR MAJOR SURGERY. I FEEL ALL SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS. HAS IT HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE? PLEASE LET ME KNOW. ## my daughter was given 75mg patches and dismissed from the hospital at noon one day and died at l0:30 the next morning due to overdose. She was a cystic fibrosis patient that had breathing problems and weighed at her best 89 pounds. She was given this drug for minor discomfort and pain when other drugs with a lot less risk could have been tryed and could have eased her disco...

my husband was prescibed Fentanyl Transdermal System)and he takes Lyrica 200 mg what will it do. he put his first patch on today and along with 1 10mg percet in am and 1 pm. He is very tired what should i watch out for I am scared for him he ate to many percet to take away the pain and didnt work so the dr, prescribe these patches ## My research states that there are potentially unsafe interactions between Fentanyl, Lyrica, & Percocet. Quoted below are the precautions you should be aware of: Applies to: Fentanyl Transdermal System (fentanyl), Lyrica (pregabalin) "Using fentanyl together with pregabalin may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience some impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid o...

I WAS PRESCRIBED THE 50 MCG/HR FENTANYL PATCH FOR CHRONIC BACK PAIN & DEGENERATIVE DISC DISEASE. I WAS GIVEN THE PRESCRIPTION SEVERAL WEEKS AGO. I JUST GOT IT FILLED 2 DAYS AGO BECAUSE I'M AFRIAD TO USE IT. I HAVE READ ALL THE PATIENT INFO, RESEARCHED IT ON THE NET & TALKED TO SEVERAL PHARMACISTS AS WELL AS MY PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN. ALL OF THE PHYSICIANS & PHARMACISTS TELL ME THAT THE PATCH WILL HELP ME WITH THE DAILY PAIN. THEY SAY THAT THE PATCH SHOULD NOT CAUSE ME ANY HARM BUT THE ONE TING THAT'S STOPPING ME FROM USING IT IS THE RESPIRATORY SIDE EFFECTS & POSSIBLE OVERDOSE. I'M SEEKING SOME ADVISE FROM PEOPLE THAT HAVE USED THIS DRUG BEFORE WHETHER IT WAS A GOOD OR BAD OUTCOME. I AM OPOID TOLERANT BECAUSE I'VE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS PAIN FOR THE LAST ...

I've been using the the 25mcg patch for chronic pain for 3mos. and feel it is not working as well as it did in the beginning. Could I be building a tolerence this soon? Should I ask my neurologist to increase the dosage? or should I ask for other pain med to use with the patch? ## You have definitely built up a tolerance. Also, the problem with extremely strong narcotics like fentanyl is when you become dependent (NOT addicted, big difference), your brain starts to send out a false sense of pain that is telling you that you need more and more. It is all up to you and your doc. The more and the longer you stay on it the worse it will be to get off of it (withdrawals). Also they could could give you something else on top of the fent for breakthrough pain, but it will just probably be ...

I have a patch that is called Transdermal system and it says 25 mcg/hr, it also says each Transdermal system contains: 2.55 mg Fentanyl. I am a first time user on this medication, what effects will I experience? ## Well, this can have some adverse effects. I am not sure if you have previously used narcotics, I know this should not be used by anyone who has not already built up a narcotic tolerance as it is a very, very strong med. 80 times stronger than Morphine as a matter of fact. My doctor tried taking from Darvocet to the patch 25s and I was so sick, for days, that I couldn't even hold down water, even when she gave me the strongest antinausea that she could. Some people love these, they can work wonders for pain, but they don't agree with some people, so you will basically ...

Since being on this patch fourteen days, my restless legs have become much worse. Can this be related to the pain patch? I now take 1 MG of Klonopin, but it doesn't seem to be helping much. Has anyone had this same problem? ## Not me - I have been on patch and I take Klonpin, but don't hve RLS, maybe you need a stronger RLS med? Good luck!! ## Have offered information about fentanyl patches 100 ul.1-Q72·Hrs.because of the war on Drugs, mainly, marijuana,we, veterans are getting treated as criminals as though it's strange for us to have extraneous pain.We couldn't call in a sick day,had to work-sick/well.war is really hell.NOW,we've become the bottom feeders according to any VA doctor who takes a dislike to you.Please..Anyone who has issues with chronic pain,don...

I've been on 50mcg/hr Fentanyl Transdermal patch, for 9 years. I've had 4 major back surgeries and kidney stones and the patch does not work any more take the patch every 48 hours and now i'm going to a pain clinic and told them that i want off the patch;they told me to leave the patch on for 72 hours and they would give me 10mg off oxycodone to take 3 times a day. Is that enough because i'm hurting in such a way i cannot explain,i have been taking up to 4 or 5 a day and it seems to help a little better. what do you think i should do? ## Hello, Ozark! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in so much pain. However, there is a higher dose of the patches available that you could switch to, it is also available in a 100mcg dosage. At this time, I doubt the Oxycodon...

I have been treated with Fentanyl Transdermal System. I have gotten in what they call a donut hole and the price is a lot more than any person on Disability could ever afford. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks ## If you find a way to get the patch at a price someone on disability can afford let me know please buy insurance get up my cost from $2.50 to $40.00 and for that increase I would have to go without food or heat which do I choose. ## I'm also in the "donut hole"and I have to say no meds should cost $400 on disablity it's almost impossible, but my pain is so bad I just can't do without. I've had this pain for 17 yrs and I still keep going ## If you have medicare medco has a plan that has generic coverage thru the donut hole. I get my patched for $6 a mont...

Any and all input is welcomed, regardless of medication being delivered. So about 4 years ago my pain doctor tried to put me on a fentanyl patch and unfortunately I couldn't get the patch to stick longer than 20 minutes. It never worked out. Now, I am in Colorado which is drier than the Gobi, and I don't tend to use a lot of lotion yet I cannot get patches to stick to me. Apparently I'm oily or just so slick nothing sticks? ha Anyway, I'm looking for thoughts and info on how to make a patch stick. I'm also wondering how to get adhesive and any product used to make the patch stick residue off my skin. I will be going on butran patches tomorrow and naturally I can't just slap some duct tape over it AND it's a 7 day patch. If a 2 day one didn't keep...7 days...

Does anyone know anything about this. I wear this path daily and change every three days ## Duragesic Info Click Here ## Help, After 3yrs going off the duragesic patches 250mg change every 72hrs or 3 days...withdrwal is so bad thinking of checking into a drug rehab. clinic .Has anyone ever done this on this med ? Or any others , so I know what to expect...signed Scared Skerit? ## Well this is not a med that you should just stop abruptly, especially from that high of a dose. It can be very dangerous, you need a tapering schedule to stop using this med. This med is 80 times stronger than morphine, so you are going from a tremendous amount down to nothing and not only will the withdrawals be horrific, but as I said, it can be dangerous as well. Please talk to a doctor immediately. ## I WAS...

How much hydrocodone is equivalent to a 75mcg fentanyl patch every 48hrs? I'm trying to replace my patch with oral hydrocodone. ## With regards to medication equivalency, I feel that there is no effective way to compare Hydrocodone and Fentanyl on a milligram to microgram basis. Not only does each individual react/respond differently to the same substances, but we also have to factor in the numerous binders and fillers which affect absorption/bioavailability, the variances across each manufacturer's quality assurance, tolerance, weight, one's unique level of pain (that fluctuates intermittently throughout the day), and most importantly the route of administration (transdermal vs orally)... Working closely with your doctor through trial and error may help you determine an eff...

Is a 25mil fentanyl patch as strong as 40 mil of methadone? ## From what I've read online, fentanyl is reportedly much stronger than methadone. But because the forms of administration are two worlds apart (one being a transdermal patch and the other being a pill), I honestly don't think there's such thing as an "equivalent dose" between the two; especially since each medication effects people differently. Have you talked with your doctor yet about trying one or the other? ## I am taking 50 fentanyl patches but waiting for 3 days in between them is no good and I am now replacing the patches every 2nd day but the hours are different. The Notes for Patients are a scream. Says they don't even have an effect for the first 24 hours!!! That after removal of one the skin...

How much adderall can be taken while wearing a 25 mcg transdermal fentanyl patch? ## Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between Adderall and Fentanyl. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate. Having said that - in my opinion, it would be ok to take these two medications together. However, as far as proper dosing goes, I would simply suggest following the dosage guidelines on the Adderall packaging. If in fact you do end up experiencing undesirable side effects, it would probably be in your best interest to stop taking it and try another medication or holistic approach to your condition. I hope this helps!

Is there any way of finding out which pharmacies contract with certain distributors? My pharmacy informed me when I went in to fill my prescription that they've been unable to order the fentanyl patches I've been receiving (used to be Mallinckrodt, recently Alvogen), and tbh anytime things deviate from the norm they don't provide me with much information, are very difficult to communicate with, and not very helpful, so them trying to track down a distributor that does have them or arming me with information to remedy the situation some other way is pretty much out of the question. They probably have a contract with only one or two distributors anyway, and apparently they're the distributors experiencing shortage. I looked up fentanyl transdermal shortages and a post ment...

I was on Fentanyl patch for 2 yrs. Had many trips to ER for overdose or withdrawal symptoms with proper use. I think people should know. The doctors were always stumped at my symptoms. I had to do my own research on internet to diagnose the problem. ## Susan, did your doc figure out what the problem was? When I take hydrotherapy or just a nice hot tub soak, I take mine off to prevent excellerated discharge of the medication. I was first on Durgesic then switched to Fentanyl when it came out and have done very well on both. I am so very sorry you have gone through this. There must be some sort of answer. Best wishes. ## Actually, this can be caused simply by heat, like sjf said, they take theirs off when facing hot water or spas, to prevent too much being released, there are warnings on t...

After taking 100mcg transdermal fentanyl patches, which I have been on for a few months. I was prescribed 2 8-2mg SuboxoneNaloxone, Insurance would only pay for the pill form. When I take Suboxone pill, It puts me into withdrawal. I was just wondering how long should I wait after taking the 100mg fentanyl transdermal patch, before taking my Suboxone pills? I'm hoping someone is out there that would be willing to help me out with this problem. Thanks, in advance, God Bless ## Hello, Emberlee! How are you? I am very sorry about the problem that you've experienced. You have to be in full withdrawal from the Fentanyl, before you can safely take Suboxone, or the precipitated withdrawals will keep occurring, as instructed by the NIH. There is no specific time frame, it can vary from p...

Are fentanyl gel patches better for pain relief than transdermal patches? What pharmaceutical companies make the gel patches and what would be the better company or companies to use? Thank you very much for your help. ## I used to be on the mylan transdermal patch when I used cvs for my pharmacy but when I moved & switched to Walgreens they gave me the Actavis brand which is the gel pouch one.Walgreens uses two different brands, the Actavis gel pouch patch & I'm not sure the name of the other brand but it's the transdermal type & they even ask what yr preference is. I did notice a difference. The gel pouch ones seem to work much better. Hope this helps. Chronic pain sucks. Best of luck. ## Actavis now makes only a matrix plastic patch, branded MATRIFEN. How much adderall can be taken while wearing a 25 mcg transdermal fentanyl patch? ## Have you consulted your doctor? I'm not finding any interactions listed between the two, but you should always double check with your doctor, or pharmacist to be certain. You also should take the Adderall according to your doctor's prescribing instructions.

So, I'm in a big big dilemma. For my own security and well being, I MUST come off my Fentanyl transdermal patch. I've Been using 50mcg/72 hours for about 6 mths straight. I have 3 of the 50mcg patches left and 4 of the 25mcg to help me taper off. I will no longer be using them anymore, just Norcos or oxymorphone IR. I'm absolutely terrified of withdrawals. My doc who put me on them has No idea what it's like to come off like this. Can someone please tell me if and how bad the withdrawals from going down that much will affect me? I can not take any benzos (Ativan, xanax, etc). I have come off the oxymorph about 75% in the last 2 mths. I'm literally freaking out. Again, I'm terrified but HAVE to do this for at least another 7 months. Any help would be appreciated. ...
