Hi I'm on 100 I do know when they run but they don't desalt seem to do much what is better then this for osteo pain? Thanks ## Fentanyl is the strongest narcotic opiate available on the market, it is over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Learn more Fentanyl details here. How often do you change the patches? What other medications have you tried? ## I hope by now you've found a medication or mixture of meds that are helpful. As there are too many people handing out bad information & using these sorts of places to find drugs, it's not proper to ask for names of "better" medications. There are medications stronger than fentanyl & for osteo pain; a mix of NSAIDs & narcotics, as well as physical therapy & exercise, have been proven to be most beneficia...

How many percocets equal the 100mcg patches changed every 48 hours ## Hello, Tina! How are you? Fentanyl is the most potent opiate available, so you'd actually need several hundred milligrams of Oxycodone to equal a 100mcg patch and you can't take enough Percocet to be equal to it. Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, you'd overdose, especially on the Acetaminophen, before you ever reached the same level of efficacy. Even if you tried to space it over 2 days, as you would the patch. The FDA lists these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they have potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Has your doctor switched you form one to the other? ## okay? I have a question on pain ...

Fentanyl Duragesic patches R not for acute pain such as after surgery. Only for chronic long-term pain. I am in constant pain from back, neck, hip and foot injury in serious car wreck 5 years ago. I use 50 mcg patches and percocet 1000 mg for pain, but it is never totally gone, just bearable. ## I am not sure what the dosage is on your Percocet, or if it is even Percocet you are taking, because it does not come in a 1000mg tablet. The max for Percocet is 650mgs of Acetaminophen with 10mgs of Oxycodone. As to the Fentanyl, if it is not controlling your pain, then you have probably built up a tolerance to that dosage and may need to talk to your doctor about making a med adjustment. It does come in up to 75mcgs in the patches. ## Vernon, Please tell me. Maybe you will know. I am so tired ...

I've been on Fentanyl patches for 5 years and was on 125mcg, new Pain Consultant wanted me to cut back to 112mcg which I have done, been getting normal withdrawal, nausea, restlessness, headaches, joint pain, increased pain for which I'm taking 40mg in 2ml Oramorph, but have also got chest pain, especially if I bend or stretch or stand up, is this normal or should I see my doctor? ## Hello, Karen! How are you feeling? Any chest pain should be checked out by a doctor immediately, there is always a chance that it's something dangerous, so better safe than sorry, where that is concerned. However, from what you're describing with it happening when you bend, stretch or stand up, it may be costochondritis, which is an inflammation that occurs where the ribs connect to the ster...

I took a 12mg suboxone yesterday early am. When can I take my 25mg fentanyl patches?? ## Hello, Jennifer! How are you? Usually, you need to wait about 3 days, due to the Suboxone blocking the action of other opiates, unless your doctor has instructed you otherwise. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Suboxone, subutex, nor any form of buprenorphine will block Fentanyl. Fentanyl has a higher affinity for opiate receptors. I know this because I am on Belbuca (was on subutex) for chronic pain. I've taken all forms of opiates that exist! I don't want to be on oxycodone or any othe...

I would like to know WHY the FDA has not taken the Fentanyl Patch off the market? This drug is being handed out like candy. Anyone who is not terminal or under Hospice care or in a hospital invironment should not be using this drug. Why would a person be prescribed a medication that is 80 times stronger than morphine for a backache. I do not believe patients know how powerful this medication is. The warning should be labled in RED. When are you FDA going to realize This medication is killing while relieving pain! I know because it killed my son. ## Very sorry to hear that you lost your son, from use of this medication. As to the warnings, those used by the FDA are black box warnings, to alert people to serious risks. While it can be dangerous, since it is so powerful and often abuse, it...

My mom has been on fentanyl patches for about 5 years now , 50 MCG/HR FENTANYL PATCH.... the pain clinic that is responsible for giving her the patches now says she needs to be off them, they have not lowered the dosage but now no longer are prescribing her any more, I agree that she needs to go off them, but she has experienced withdrawal symptoms so severe that she ended up in the ER, they gave her a one week supply until she could make other arrangements My question is...how can a pain clinic just cut her off after all of these years, I called them and told them that she needs help getting off and they gave me a number of a detox center, I called them, they haven't been a detox center for over 3 years, .so I called the pain clinic back, they said they were sorry and said they cou...

First let me start off by saying, I have definitely reduced my dosage from 3 100mcg to 2 100mcg patches. I am currently wearing only one and so far so good. I am praying that I can continue to work my way back down. Unfortunately, my chronic pain may not allow that to happen sadly, doctors don't really have a clue what is going on with my knees. I believe it to be restless leg syndrome coupled with polio syndrome. Anyone know of specialists that I can see in New York . ## 1 x 100mcg patch/day is already a lot. Best thing for pain in anything below the arms is losing weight. Get as low as you can. If the pain killers you take don't kill you, the weight will. (I have no idea how much you weight, this is just a rule of human anatomy). There are LOTS of other things for knee pain -A...

Thanks ## Fentanyl is the strongest narcotic opiate that's available, it's over 80 times stronger than Morphine. How often do you change the patch? What other medications have you tried? ## Hi Patch is every 3 days, I cant recall the names, but there has been allot of different tablets etc over the last 24 months. People keep saying these patches are the strongest etc yet I find they don't really make any difference on me at all, If I don't take them there is no real noticeable change. ## Is it that you dont get the euphoria? Because I use it and I don't even feel like I'm on it. But it works great for the pain. Get some percocet for breakthr...

is butrol pain patches the same as fentanyl? ## I'm sorry, but this site doesn't have any information on this. I can't find anything listed under this name or anything similar that is a patch and/or for pain. Can you double check the name and spelling? What country it is from?

Can someone please tell me where I can find a doctor who is not afraid to prescribe fentanyl patches and 10/325 hydrocodone? Due to all the changes that went into affect last year, my doctor has been cutting back on my dosages and my pain has been gradually increasing with each decrease. Just as we found the right combination and I had a nearly two year pain-free life these changes came about and now I am back dealing with pain and my doctor is afraid to treat me as an individual vs the masses. Please help!!! ## I know exactly how you feel as I was doing great on methadone and hydrocodone until Congress decided too many people were over dosing. However, anyone can over dose on any medication so why they singled out methadone is beyond me but my life has been hell ever since. I'm sur...

I'm in Massachusetts and just lost my Blue Cross that was covering the Duragesic Jansen 100 and 25 mg patches. Now I'm on Massachusetts Health and they won't cover the brand name, which compared to the generic is a big difference in the amount of Fentanyl. For example the 100 has 16.8mg of Fentanyl per patch vs the generic only has 10.55 by mylan. The 25 only has 2.4 I believe and the brand name is 4.2. That's a big difference to me when these name brand are barely making my pain tolerable. I've been on the generic before and they are definitely not even close to the brand name. My question is, I found the generic brand Sandoz that has equivalent amount of medicine in each patch but I cant find pharmacies that carry it or that will order it for me. Like I said I'...

People are talking on a site about sucking on F patches.if I lose one in the shower its no longer good after being wet.how can the patch b wet and then used effectively? ## Well, that is the fact of relevance here, they aren't using them appropriately and effectively. Sucking on them is abusing them, they are trying to get all of the narcotic out to get high, rather than using it as designed by letting it slowly release to alleviate their pain. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have been on 20mcg of Butrans patches for about 4 months now and there not helping with my pai...

Hi I'm on 100 I do know when they run but they don't desalt seem to do much what is better then this for osteo pain? Thanks ## The 100mcg Fentanyl patches are actually the strongest narcotic analgesic on the market, it's over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Learn more Fentanyl details here. What other medications have you tried? How long do you wear each patch? ## Fentanyl should NEVER be used for osteo pain. It works on nerve pain but I've never know it to work on knee replacement, etc. 100 mcg/hr is the MAXIMUM dose. Any more than that can be FATAL. I'm not a physician, but I'd recommend Naproxin 500 mg twice a day. It is the active ingredient in Alieve BUT it is the prescription strength and is cheaper than any other drug I've found that works. Fentanyl s...

Doctor took me off percocet 10's and put me on 12mcg fentanyl patches. Will this help? I was taking six percocet a day. ## The only way to discover whether or not this medication will help you is by trying it, but Fentanyl is stronger than Oxycodone. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Have you start the patches, yet? ## I was on 100mcg every 48 hrs of fentanyl for 15 years n it worked great. Then they cut me off cold turkey n I had to buy the patches for 1/2 of how many mcgs they were. I saw a pain management Dr to have him put me back on the patches again. He told me the state of Illinois wouldn't allow him to prescribe the patches so he gave me 180 Percocet ...

I have been having problems since they took me off of the duragesics made by jennsen, I am looking for a similar brand that helps my pain and does not fall off, I liked the sandoz but there is some back up on those i do not like the matrix because I get no relief, gell patches fall off ## Why did they take you off of it? Do you mean your pharmacy just switched which one they're providing? If that's the case, you can ask if they can order that one back in for you. You just may have to pay any price difference between it and their current one, because your insurance usually won't. As to the ones that fall off, there are also solutions available for that, there are some medical tapes and overlay patches that you can get to prevent them doing that. ## @vERWON PLEASE if you could...

My pain Dr.had me on 30mg. of morphine sulfate 3 times per day & switched me to 50 mcg. Fentanyl patches at 1 every 3 days. The morphine was keeping me up at night & did'nt seem to ease the pain.Second day on the patch & it does'nt stop the pain either any suggestions will be truely appreciated..Thanx ## I don't have an exact answer to your question, since everyone responds differently to both of these medications (based on tolerance, etc). However, according to numerous articles, Fentanyl is said to be approximately 100 times more potent than Morphine, with 100 micrograms of Fentanyl approximately equivalent to 10 mg of Morphine in analgesic activity (or in regards to pain relief). I hope this information helps! ## You need to give it a little time. I am on 75 ev...

I can only buy one type of Fentanyl Patch from my drug store. I have read that other folks have access to the patch with the gel rather than the one without. When I first started using them, I got the ones with gel, was told later that they did not make them anymore. Is this true or not? The ones with gel helped me a lot more, the others without gel itch, won't stay on, and I sometimes I find that the patch is curled under because of the itching in my sleep. The ones with gel also gave me more relief and stayed on. I don't want to go to a larger patch - just one that works better as the gel patch did. I have no intention of any kind of abuse, I just want to get rid of as much pain as possible. I have been on patches for quite a while now, about 5 years, and I am tired of the patc...

Hi All ~ Thanks for reading and possibly helping me out ! First a quick summery, 2 failed back surgery's, L3, L4, & L5 ~ 6 bolts and screws, except, in L5, apparently, I have a screw floating, not attached. 2 Doctors, saw the X-Ray, neither of them, seemed concerned. It's not floating, it has been in the same position for 2 years now. The last 2 1/2 months, actually, I have to see him, every 22 days another story, another day, as to why, the short leash. Anyway last 2 1/2 months, I am suffering so much more, my normal pain level, (which is when I am at my best) is a 4, I don't recall a day, that's been pain free for me. But I can't get to my level, I am now 6,7, and sometimes 8 ~ I can't stand longer than 15 minutes TOPS ~ On top of my normal back pain, I hav...
