what companies still make fentanyl gel patch ## Unfortunately, I can't find a list of all current manufacturers, since it can change at any given time, when one company takes over another, or decides to stop manufacturing it. Learn more Fentanyl details here. Have you tried checking with your pharmacist? They should have a list of what's available and let you know which manufacturer's product they can order. ## I tried calling pharmacies. .. been on them since 06 and they treat u like a junkiee. Malincroft was bought by PAR. They have the gels. Some pharmacists will order for u. If I dont used gels.. the pain starts the early second day...by night..im in wds. i have half of a 50mg fentanyl patch and im wondering if you can take it? ## It is not safe to do this with any medication, they should only be used in the manner that they are intended to be used. There is a very high risk of overdose, with Fentanyl, because it is over 80 times stronger than Morphine and even the non-gel patches are time released, so abusing it could result in your getting too much, at once. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Is it ok to use Fentanyl (non-gel) patches, even though they're expired? I have taken the gel patches before and it worked better than I hoped, just took a little bit longer to kick in compared to dilaudid. I just used a 25 mcg. sticky non-gel patch, that expired in 2011. Can I expect it to work better soon?

Please let me know the gel brands for fent 25 patches. I always used PAR and now I guess they are obsolete. I'm in northern virginia and I hate the foil backed ones as they are like gum when they get wet and then a ball of gook. I could handle the little tiny ones that are non gel but I they too aren't very sticky once they get wet. The gel ones, I can take off when I shower and stick them back on their plastic and re-stick. I wear them on my hip wear my underwear elastic is and worse case scenerio, I put a bandaid over it if the sticky isn't very sticky. Thank you for any names of gel 25's that I can ask my pharmacy to order without sounding like I'm desperate lol ## Two pharmacies near Woodbridge VA, attempted to order the PAR brand and came back to say they couldn...

I take 50mcg/h patches I was amazed out how well they worked (Cancer) I have been on Fentanyl for 5 months the first patches hardly worked from a generic company Sadoz. It felt like I was just putting a piece of scotch tape on myself I told my Dr and he explained some story about the drug companies are removing the gel and made this new format (so i have to suffer because he said people were able to get the gel out of the patches?. I filled my last 2 prescriptions at walgreens and they had your brand I was out of pain within a half hour -Are you switching to these flat patches? and if so PLEASE help me find a company that will still carry them !!! ## this site does not manufacture, nor sell any medications, this is an information only website, therefore this site is not switching anythin...

Has anyone that uses fentanyl patches get a red raw spot, hives were you put the patch, only the gel ones, also ive been on them for years but now when its time to change it i also have a strange run down feeling like im exhausted. What are they doing to theses things? ## Yes, I've been on them for 7 Years and I get a raw rash around where the patches are . And also I've been run down and my testosterone is low . The patches have drained the testosterone from my body and I started taking supplements to help and they have in about 2 weeks I am starting to feel better. Make sure you take Magnesium, Zinc, and a daily vitamin . Hope this helps. ## Hi! From other posts and my own personal experience when I tried them years ago, the rash, hives, irritation and etc. appears to be caused b...

Hello all, hope this message/question finds you well! So I've got a question, but before I ask I'll give some background information: I've been on varying strengths of the Fentanyl patches for almost 10 years for a failed spinal fusion, continued chronic pain due to the fusion degenerating the discs above it, and also for Fibromyalgia. But for the last 3-4 years I've been on 75mcg changed every 48 hours and this has worked super well for me. I am currently using the brand Actavis and it has the gel reservoir. Anyway, I've been through withdrawals before, but this last time seemed different. I usually start having withdrawals within the first 12-36 hours and I'm talking about severe vomiting (with sweats and chills) that can't be helped by any of the anti-naus...

Does anyone know if/when sandoz fentanyl patches will become available again? ## No, I'm sorry, I don't have any information on any current problems. Have you tried asking your pharmacy? They'd have access to the most current information on any availability problems, since they are alerted immediately by the FDA and the information we have is generally delayed, since this site does not manufacture, nor dispense any medications. This is a very potent narcotic analgesic and it may cause side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, constipation and dry mouth. ## I think it is gone I was on it and it worked great the only one left is Watson brand it works almost as good as the sandose and it has the gel in it the other ones do not work try them I think you will like them good luck ...

Does anyone know what brand of the fentanyl patch 100mcg that Wal-Mart carries now? I know that they had only carried the one brand that was recalled with the gel, which was because people were overdosing on it causing death. After reading up on this there were people who were misusing, abusing the patches, digesting the gel or smoking it, which made it bad for those who depended on this certain patch for their pain relief, I used to use the patch for my excruciating constant pain and it was great only Medicare would no longer pay for it switching me to the generic fentanyl patch which only works half as good as the recalled patches. People in the US seem to abuse prescription meds a lot and those who depend on the meds have to suffer when they're then recalled. If anyone knows what...

I am new to the patch i have been on the 25 mcg for a month and two weeks now the first brqnd i used was mallickrodt and i thought they didnt work so i told my doc and she suggested trying a different pharmacy, so i did and they gave me par and sandoz. Well the par is gell filled and sandoz is matrix and about to expire in may so now i am feeling withdrawl while wearing a fresh fentanyl patch does this mean got some duds I tried one of each and I am getting absolutely nothing :-( ## Hello, Starshadow! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. What other pain medications have you taken? It sounds like this might be too low of a dose to help you. There are higher doses available. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit...

Does anyone know how it is made? Does it have the medicine woven into the fabric of the patch or is it in a pouch form? Thank you. ## No, I'm sorry, due to the risks of then being abused, such as people trying to smoke the medication from a patch, they no longer publicly list the specifics of its make up. They are really only required to list it with the FDA safety filings anyway, so they can get away with doing this quite easily. Learn more Fentanyl details here. Have you gotten some manufactured by them from your pharmacy? ## If the patch has a gel filled pouch....what would the gel be there for if it wasn't impregnated with the medicine? ## I have been using Fentanyl patches for about 2 years, the 75 Mcg. I usually get the Mylan brand. Drug store was low on the Wty they had s...

Are fentanyl gel patches better for pain relief than transdermal patches? What pharmaceutical companies make the gel patches and what would be the better company or companies to use? Thank you very much for your help. ## I used to be on the mylan transdermal patch when I used cvs for my pharmacy but when I moved & switched to Walgreens they gave me the Actavis brand which is the gel pouch one.Walgreens uses two different brands, the Actavis gel pouch patch & I'm not sure the name of the other brand but it's the transdermal type & they even ask what yr preference is. I did notice a difference. The gel pouch ones seem to work much better. Hope this helps. Chronic pain sucks. Best of luck. ## Actavis now makes only a matrix plastic patch, branded MATRIFEN. I cannot afford the Duragesic brand 75 µg/hr fentanyl patches that work great (my newer insurance only covers the generic brands), thus I use the generic Mylan brand. This presents three problems: 1) Even a Tagaderm patch over each Mylan patch won't prevent about 2 or 3 patches per month from uncoupling from my skin. 2) I kept a careful record of my pain level every four hours and whenever a new patch was applied day and night for 96 hrs. The data clearly show that no clinical amount of additional fentanyl leaves the Mylan patch after 36 hrs. This does not occur with the Durogesic patch. 3) I tried the Watson brand patch that has a gel-filled sac on it, and its performance was pathetic. The patches were very difficult to keep affixed and they provided significantly less pain re...

I asked my doctor the same question yesterday, she said "no", because once it hits the air, the strength starts to dissipate, or weaken. So she put me on the lowest dose, as I hope to get off them and all meds eventually. ## No, you can't cut it in half and the reason for it is because it is time released and cutting the patch could cause you to get too much of the medication at once, which may result in a dangerous overdose. Learn more Fentanyl details here. Are there any other questions or comments? ## What about the new style without the gel. You know like the nicotine patches Can you cut those ones half? and just cut your dose.. thanks.. Dave ## I have been using the Mylan matrix (non-gel) patches for some time now and have had no problems with cutting them. I remove 1/6...

I have been having problems since they took me off of the duragesics made by jennsen, I am looking for a similar brand that helps my pain and does not fall off, I liked the sandoz but there is some back up on those i do not like the matrix because I get no relief, gell patches fall off ## Why did they take you off of it? Do you mean your pharmacy just switched which one they're providing? If that's the case, you can ask if they can order that one back in for you. You just may have to pay any price difference between it and their current one, because your insurance usually won't. As to the ones that fall off, there are also solutions available for that, there are some medical tapes and overlay patches that you can get to prevent them doing that. ## @vERWON PLEASE if you could...

My husband ran out of his 50 mcg Fentanyl Patches on Monday. Today is Friday 12/11/09 and he is experiencing withdrawals. The patches are supposed to be available today (it's 3 a.m. here). Is there ANYTHING that can help him until he receives his RX? He has the chills, sneezing, stomach cramps, moaning, restlessness, etc. Please help ... ## I have been on the patches for a wile now and the best he could do for the time being is to take the last patch he was wearing and cut a hole in the corner and push out a pea sized drop of the gel and {edited for safety reasons} just to be carefully only use a little amout to start with and give in about 15 mins and I promise he will feel tons better. Im not a doctor so im just tryin to help tell he can get a refill. ## Thanks for the reply. My h...

I was on hydrocodone, xanax, soma and I was given a fentanyl patch 100mcg due to a fall. It damn near killed me. Because of sheer stupidity, I cut this patch and took a minuscule amount of the gel, evidently an extreme amount went into my system. My nurse at the time (I actually had a HH RN) was there 30 minutes after I took it, I was having chest pain, was very confused. And a ROOKIE paramedic gave me Morphine! 4mg IV push was added to the prior "recipe/concoction" and it through me in to SEVERE Respiratory Depression. I was breathing 6RPM in less than a 7 minute ride to the ER / unconscious of course; and a Nurse Practitioner in her infinite wisdom without looking at my med list, or seeing I was taking medication for chronic pain gave me Narcan which could have put me in full ...

It sounds to me like she could be heavily influenced by other so-called "friends"/abusers who regularly associate with her. There's only so much you can do as a parent without being able to make these kinds of decisions for her. Is ...

I can only buy one type of Fentanyl Patch from my drug store. I have read that other folks have access to the patch with the gel rather than the one without. When I first started using them, I got the ones with gel, was told later that they did not make them anymore. Is this true or not? The ones with gel helped me a lot more, the others without gel itch, won't stay on, and I sometimes I find that the patch is curled under because of the itching in my sleep. The ones with gel also gave me more relief and stayed on. I don't want to go to a larger patch - just one that works better as the gel patch did. I have no intention of any kind of abuse, I just want to get rid of as much pain as possible. I have been on patches for quite a while now, about 5 years, and I am tired of the patc...

Ive been given the Fentanyl patch made by Aviva by my local pharmacy. Before this ive always gotten the Gel filled brand. The Aviva brand are causing side effects as you may have read in my previous post.I called my Pharmacy and told them about this and they said Every brand of Fentanyl patch is differant and this type is probably too strong an i may need to reduce the strength per my next doctor visit.I was curious if i could just cut these in half an see if it helps?Any replies would be appreciated. ## Yes, it seems there are some that are safe to cut, but you should never do so, without checking with your pharmacist, first. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drows...
