Fentanyl 50mcg Hr

I got a serious question to ask .I just had lower back surgery, a fusion with a cage.My dr.have me the fentanal 50MCG PATCHES,WITH 60 MG OF MS CONTIN EVERY 12 HRS. AM I GONNA BE OK IM MORE AFRAID OF OVER DOING IT .IM ALSO SUPPOSE TO BE ON 15 MG of roxy every 4 hrs as well but i haven't gotten them filled yet. My main question is am i takin to much 60 ms cotin with 50MCG OF FENTAYL?? I hope i could get some simple feedback on this.thank you. ## Whether or not such dosages are too much is entirely relative to the person taking them. I've been on 50mcg/hr Fentanyl Transdermal patch, for 9 years. I've had 4 major back surgeries and kidney stones and the patch does not work any more take the patch every 48 hours and now i'm going to a pain clinic and told them that i want off the patch;they told me to leave the patch on for 72 hours and they would give me 10mg off oxycodone to take 3 times a day. Is that enough because i'm hurting in such a way i cannot explain,i have been taking up to 4 or 5 a day and it seems to help a little better. what do you think i should do? ## Hello, Ozark! I am a 33 yr old woman being treated by Pain Mgmt Dr. for chronic pain as a result of 3 failed elbow surgeries and nerve damage. My current dosage is 50mcg/hr every 48 hrs with up to 4 oxycodone per day for break through pain. I know the patch is suppose to be a good medication for pain control, but I am really considering asking to change to a different medication because of the sweating problems I have on the Fentanyl and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I am constantly drenched sinced I have been on the patch. Dr tried hytrin to control sweating, but all that did was cause me to bloat. I've been on a 25mcg and 12mcg Fentanyl patch now for about 6 mos. I change them every 48 hours. I get 15 of each per month. Lately I've not been getting the pain relief I did in the beginning. I would like to titrate up to the 50mcg patch. I think that would make a big difference, but I don't want my pain dr. to think I'm abusing it. Is is too soon to move to a higher dose? I mean is there a general time period for titrating up? I am currently on a Mylan Fentanyl patch 50mcg/hr. I was on 75mcg patch which worked well with my pain but the patches dont last 48 hours. After about 30-36 hours I start having major withdrawel symptoms and pain. I had these withdrawels with both doses of the fentanyl patches. My dr dropped my down to 50mcg to see if it would help but it does'nt. I have some Dilaudid for breakthrough pain but it does'nt work at all for pain or withdrawel syptoms. The dilaudid is basically useless to me. Has anyone had a Mylan Fentanyl patch thats doing this?? I saw my dr today and he's considering taking me off the patches and back to the pills again. I would be so grateful if someone could help me figure out why I'm sleepy all the time! I am taking opana 10mg 2x daily, with vicodan for breakthrough pain. I am 65 yrs old, female and also taking many other pills including paxil, lasix, simvastatin, insulin (type II diabetic) lisinopril, glipizide and potassium. I was on oxycodone for 5 yrs, Doctor decides his practice doesn't want to go the oxy 30 route anymore... Gives me 50mcg fentanyl patch 1 every 72 hrs. To be honest I didn't feel anything really, but I didn't feel sick or like s***.. Go to next appointment, and told him the same, didn't feel anything and my chronic back and neck pain is off the charts. He upped the patch to 75mcg.. still don't really feel anything except my pain problems.. tried cutting the 1st 75mcg patch and chewing a small size piece after wearing 1st patch for only 48hrs hoping it would help my pain problems along with a new 75mcg patch!!!
