Fentanyl Sweating
I am a 33 yr old woman being treated by Pain Mgmt Dr. for chronic pain as a result of 3 failed elbow surgeries and nerve damage. My current dosage is 50mcg/hr every 48 hrs with up to 4 oxycodone per day for break through pain. I know the patch is suppose to be a good medication for pain control, but I am really considering asking to change to a different medication because of the sweating problems I have on the Fentanyl and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I am constantly drenched sinced I have been on the patch. Dr tried hytrin to control sweating, but all that did was cause me to bloat. I tried HRT for a year to see if that would help...no luck, still sweating. I sleep with only a sheet over me and window open at night and still wake up soaked from sweat. If I do a... ...

Titrating up on Fentanyl
I've been on a 25mcg and 12mcg Fentanyl patch now for about 6 mos. I change them every 48 hours. I get 15 of each per month. Lately I've not been getting the pain relief I did in the beginning. I would like to titrate up to the 50mcg patch. I think that would make a big difference, but I don't want my pain dr. to think I'm abusing it. Is is too soon to move to a higher dose? I mean is there a general time period for titrating up? Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks. ## I was started on the 25mcg change every 72hrs., my doc. took me up to the 50 mcg every 72 hrs in 2 months, said the 25 was just a starter. I am on the 75mcg every 72 hrs plus hydro's for break thru pain now. I will be going up again soon, my pain doc. says your body adjusts to it after time. I ... ...

Fentanyl Does Not Last 48 Hours
I am currently on a Mylan Fentanyl patch 50mcg/hr. I was on 75mcg patch which worked well with my pain but the patches dont last 48 hours. After about 30-36 hours I start having major withdrawel symptoms and pain. I had these withdrawels with both doses of the fentanyl patches. My dr dropped my down to 50mcg to see if it would help but it does'nt. I have some Dilaudid for breakthrough pain but it does'nt work at all for pain or withdrawel syptoms. The dilaudid is basically useless to me. Has anyone had a Mylan Fentanyl patch thats doing this?? I saw my dr today and he's considering taking me off the patches and back to the pills again. This really sucks. The patches have worked well for about 10 months now. ## Very sorry for what you are going through. It is possible that yo... ...

I can not stand thisbarbar ## Hi Barbara! You should let your doctor know the way you're feeling. You could be going through withdrawals. ## @Barbara, You mentioned in your post that the doctor "thought" it was no longer working... Are you in direct communication with him letting him know whether it is or isn't working or is he just assuming these things without your input? Oxycontin is considered to a be weaker medication than Fentanyl in that regard,... ...

I would be so grateful if someone could help me figure out why I'm sleepy all the time! I am taking opana 10mg 2x daily, with vicodan for breakthrough pain. I am 65 yrs old, female and also taking many other pills including paxil, lasix, simvastatin, insulin (type II diabetic) lisinopril, glipizide and potassium. I have been on several different pain meds such as fentanyl 50mcg/hr (it eventually made me feel like i was going crazy) buprenorphine, oxycodone which worked very well but I was dipping into that bottle a bit too often. Thanks for any help you can give. ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? Feeling sleepy is a very common thing with virtually all narcotic opiates, such as the Opana and Vicodin that you're taking.
