Fentanyl 25 Mcg Hr Patch

I'm curious about something that's happening with my Fentanyl patch taper. I've spent the past few months reducing my dosage by leaving some of the backing on and decreasing in increments. I've gone from 75 mcgs to 25, however I just could not increase the time between patches. Anywhere from 23-36 hours I would have panic attacks, bowel disorders, pupil enlargement, severe pain, heavy painful legs, etc. I decided I wouldn't try to drop below 25 until I could get to where I could get back to the 72 hour change. Finally, after four months I made it to 75 hrs and then only changed it because it was bedtime and I didn't want to wake up in the misery of withdrawal. This is my 1st post ever, anywhere. I am trying to get off Fentanyl. 7 years ago I was Rx'ed 25 mcg patches every 72 hrs. Went to every 48 hrs within a month. Went to a 50 every 48 to a 75 every 48 to the 100 mcg every 48 hrs.. Been on 100 mcg's (48 hrs) for several years now and I'm sick and tired of taking the patch. I have DDD, two failed rotator cuff surgeries as well as an elbow surgery (pain). The shoulder and back pain is the worst. I'm 52 years old, worked a steady job with Ma Bell as a lineman 25 years and wore my body out. Three weeks ago I started cutting my Mylan brand 100 mcgh patches in half. So far so good. I am recovering from necrotizing pancreatitis with a large pseudo-cyst. The cyst is rather large and is putting considerable pressure on internal organs, but the doctor wants to take a slow approach at draining. As part of pain management upon leaving the hospital, I was prescribed 50 mcg/hr pain patch. Unfortunately he will not refill the prescription. I'm curious if there is a doctor who will prescribe at least 25 mcg/hr patch. ## Need DR. to help me with back pain and pain in both knees

I have a patch that is called Transdermal system and it says 25 mcg/hr, it also says each Transdermal system contains: 2.55 mg Fentanyl. I am a first time user on this medication, what effects will I experience? ## Well, this can have some adverse effects. I am not sure if you have previously used narcotics, I know this should not be used by anyone who has not already built up a narcotic tolerance as it is a very, very strong med. 80 times stronger than Morphine as a matter of fact. Im on morphine 20ml daily and fentonyl patches 100mg every 3 days I ran out of my pain relief last week n used subutex today. My script is due tomorrow is it safe to take without being in agony??? ## My advice - I currently have a very low tolerance and applied a 100 mcg patch 10 hrs ago. I stopped a 180 mg daily oxy habit of 3 years 2/14. for 3 years my dr. was prescribing me three 60mg morphine sulphate er and four 30mg ms ir daily. when it became impossible to get MS in Florida, he switched me to Fentanyl patch 12MCG/HR every 3 days and 7.5mg-200 hydrocordone , 1 every 8 hours. the pain was unbearable and I felt terrible. cold sweats, shakes, could'nt think straight. when I asked him to increase dosage, he increased the patch to 25 MCG, but said there was more MS in the 7.5-200 hydrocodone than the 30mg tabs of ms. do you agree? I've been on a 25mcg and 12mcg Fentanyl patch now for about 6 mos. I change them every 48 hours. I get 15 of each per month. Lately I've not been getting the pain relief I did in the beginning. I would like to titrate up to the 50mcg patch. I think that would make a big difference, but I don't want my pain dr. to think I'm abusing it. Is is too soon to move to a higher dose? I mean is there a general time period for titrating up? I have been weaning myself off Methadone! I was taking 10mgs 3 times a day. I am now down to less than one tablet a day and will continue until I can say goodby Methadone and I never want to see you again. Now to my real problem. Last week my doctor gave me the Fentanyl 25 MCG/HR Patch MYL. I need something to help with the pain I still have, although the Lyrica and Cymbalta have really helped. I did not know when she gave the Fentanyl Patch to me that I would have to taper off and that it carried baggage of bad side affects. I have read the messages here and have decided not to use the Fentanyl. Ive been on patches 12 months plus Dilaudid4mg due to really bad painful lower back problems. I also take 125 mg Synthriod for my Thyriods. Ive lost 25 lbs since on these meds . Super scared , been on Fentonyl for 3 months weened from 75 mcg to 25 mcg..... Also take oxycodone 5 - 10hcl IR ...... They ( a new dr) just put me on something called Hysingla ? Said it was hydrocodone? 60 mg 24 hrs....told me just to take off my fentanyl patch and take pill only once s day .... I have terrible GI issues , that's why I'm on the meds.... My moms box of 25 mcg/hr fentanyl patches accidentally fell off shelf and my 10 pound dog got it and chewed it up into pieces. There were 4 three day patches in the box not sure how much she ingested. But she is asleep and breathing very shallow can't get her to stay awake . can this kill her. ## Yes it can kill her. Take her to the vet immediately !!!!! This is so serious if she even were to just lick one patch it could kill her. 10lbs is little. Please take her to the dr ASAP!!!!
