I suffer from alcoholic fatty liver. I no longer drink as of 1 month. my enzynes are now normal. my doctor percribed 160mg of fenofibrate. for high triglycerides( currently at 210) I have been taking for 9 days but am getting alittle concern. I have been thinking of tossing the meds. any suggestions? ## Hi jack, In my honest opinion, the best way to normalize triglyceride levels/reduce cholesterol is stay on top of your diet. A couple "fruit-only or veggie-only" meals throughout the day would probably have a very significant impact on normalizing pretty much everything; from enzymes, vitamins and minerals, cholesterol, excess fat, any acidity from the alcohol, etc. As you can probably tell, I'm not a big advocate of using prescription drugs, since there are so many natural o...

Hello, I recently had a liver profile test done along with an ultrasound of my abdomen due to persistent itching on my right side. The results identified a Grade 1 Fatty Liver with SGOT levels at 30.2 and SGPT levels at 38. All other functions appear normal, even my cholesterol is within normal limits. My doctor has prescribed Udiliv 300, to be taken twice daily for fifteen days. I'm uncertain whether this is the appropriate medication for my condition. Could anyone offer advice or share their own experiences with this medication? Thank you for your help.

Hello, could you please advise if it's appropriate to use Evion or Urcosol to treat a fatty liver? I have been diagnosed with this condition and I also consume whiskey on the weekends. Thank you. ## Non-alcoholic fatty liver can be reversed with lifestyle changes. Make sure your Lipid profile, blood sugar and bp is under control... Rigorous exercise (5 days in a week), lot of fruits and vegetables can definitely reverse the disease... There is no medication for the treatment of fatty liver disease... Ursodox 300 and Udilliv are prescribed for reducing the cholesterol absorption in the gall bladder and hence preventing any formation of calcium deposits or stones.

How effective is Liv-52 in preventing/treating fatty liver and ALD? ## I have gr 1 fatty liver and i would ask you to kindly give me treatment advice for liv-52. Is it ok as a treatment option? Thanks. ## I have a fatty liver due to diet and alcohol. I got a REALLY high lft result. I didn't stop drinking but I might as well have with beer at 0.9% and some light beer for a few weeks. Exercise is important. My next test was a little better. I started all over again. Apple cider vinegar, liver support tablets with Turmeric and this time LIV 52 DS. I was wary of taking too many supplements as its a catch 22 with the liver. Next test almost perfect result.

Hi. I have fatty liver disease although my blood work is normal. Should I be taking Bactrim DS which my Dr has prescribed for diverticulitis and a possible uti? ## It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions. Are you on any other medications? The NIH lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash. Have you had elevated liver enzymes?

In a recent cat scan, It was shown that I have an enlarged prostrate and a fatty liver. My urologist prescribed sulfameth trimethoprim for the prostate. Are there any risks to my liver if I take the prescription? ## Have you discussed it with your doctor? Most medications are processed through the liver and will have some effect, the parts that must be watched closely are how bad a state your liver is in and the dosage of the medication being used.

Anyone else develope fatty liver while on savella? 2012 diagnosed with CFIDS and FIBROMYALGIA WITH NEUROLOGICAL SYMPTOMS. Thats a mouthful but my neurologist said that cfids/fm with neurological symptoms is very different than cfids/fm alone. I certainly am clueless..lol. I've tried all the common fibro drugs to no avail. Savella was hard to adapt to for about a month then there was light, so to speak. Not enough help though if it damages my kidneys or liver is my thought. I also take Nuvigil intermittently which is like manna from heaven when i have to think clearly for checkbook balancing and Bill paying. So that's my basics. I am tall and slender, not big on 3 meals a day for sure. But quickly my torso was gaining weight. From 135 lbs to 160. Bloodwork was different than ever...

My husband was recently diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the liver. He had been told for years a fatty liver is of no concern. And now this. He has more fatigue. Takes naps. He is 65 years old. I need answers quick. ## Have Hepatitis C with Cirrhosis of liver, is there any problems taking 10mg Diazepam 3times a day? ## I'm very sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis. I have know to know that cod liver oil is good for you and have many benfits is that true? ## While it is good for you, it was not very good for the cod. ## It is supposed to be a great source of Omega fatty acids, vitamin A, and vitamin D. If you are going to try this supplement I would highly recommend getting the gel caps which are filled with it instead of buying the oil and having to take a spoon of it LOL. If you'd rather try plant-based supplements which may offer similar benefits look into hemp or flax seed, but I still think that cod liver oil may offer the highest levels of what you want. Hope this helps! ## I recently purchased cod liver oil out of curiosity after learning about its crucial role in improving dental health and preventing/reversing tooth decay - something I...

I had some weight gain, like 10 to 15 pounds. What really bothers me, is after using this product I have been diagnosed with a Fatty Liver... I don't drink and I had no problems before using Lyrica. I am very concerned Lyraca causes weight gain in the liver too! ## Well, a fatty liver is NOT weight gain in the liver. It is a far more serious condition. It can develop into Cirrhosis, which is far, far more dangerous and can lead to liver failure or death. You can read more about it here: American Liver Foundation Click Here It can also happen to people who are not alcoholics, sometimes it happens just because of a person's normal body issues. Some medications can cause it, sometimes it can also be caused by diet. That said, I am not finding anything that associated Lyrica (Pregab...
