False Positive On Drug Test For Meth

I also was told I had a false positive for opiates.. I am on methadone and take depakote, cogentin, trazodone, and birth control.. been clean for opiates for a long time now..they retested me and said I was dirty again.. I know that's not true..of course I'm the liar tho. I also take zantac and prilosec.. could it be my meds showing up dirty for opiates. ## Zantac can cause false positives. Demand a gas chronograph test. This will differentiate what caused the false positive. Do they know you were on zantac or prilosec? If you don't ask, they won't do it, and you may have to pay, but get reimbursed possibly. If you don't, you could even get taken off your methadone, depending on the doctor. Hope this helps- oh and request this before the original sample is destroyed....

My doctor had me do a urine test. it came back positive for methadone. I am 55 and never took any methadone. I take lots of meds all prescribed by my doctor. I take xanax, neurotin, zanaflex, wellbutrole, liptor, plavex, peracet, nedulizer. Can any of them make u test positive ## I am also taking zanaflex and came back positive for methadone, which is impossible! And I finally told them to take blood. Any answers for this zanaflex people? ## It may have just been a false positive or faulty test. I take zanaflex daily and have so for a few years and never had a test come back positive for methadone. Wish I had a better answer, just my experience with zanaflex. I just took a drug screen and popped positive for pcp. I never taken pcp my whole life I swear. The meds I take are citalopram (celesta) docusate, quetiapine fumarate and hydroxyzine pamoate. i have been on methadone for 3 years and Kadian for 1 year. I was doing good and had all my carries. 4 months ago I had knee surgery and since then have been coming back positive for using hydromorphone. They say it isn't the Kadian because it is morphine sulfate. Non narcotic meds I take are: zopiclone, cymbalta. olanzapine nightly. Help. Will methadone make me test positive for thc in blood and urine? ## No not in blood, however in Urine...depending on the accuracy of their screening method, it is possible. That is why ALL tests muct be CONFIRMED by a more expensive and completely accurate method, i.e., GC/MS or LC/MS/MS. The instant cups, drug screen cards, and dip stick tests are NOT accurate all the time. Many things can cause FALSE positive results. CONFIRMATION MUST be done. That is the only LEGAL and ABSOLUTELY GOLD STANDARD.

I recently took a hair follicle test and it came back positive for meth. I've been clean since April 24, 2013. I was on Trazodone and Prozac until roughly July. My hair said I was positive with only 2100 points on the chart. Could it be from my meds? ## One of the great features of hair drug testing is that it is good at isolating the metabolite that for a particular drug which reduces the incidence of false positives. The number 2100 most likely means 2100 pico grams per milligrams or 2100 pg/mg. That appears to be low or recreational use. As far as the meds causing a false positive I doubt it. I took some Nyquil Monday night and Tuesday night but I didn't take any on Wednesday. Thursday afternoon I may have to take a drug test. I had a blood test and tested positive for methodone but never touched the stuff. Please inform me why this would happen because there is alot in jeopardy with this false reading. I took a generic medication called mucus relief PE sinus conjestion. 2 days after taking it i failed a drug test for meth. I've seen 2 people recently, in the ER for psych evals, who have had urine drug screens show positive for both PCP and Methadone (neither uses either drug). One is a 33yoF, the other is 81yoM. The only common factor I've found so far is that they both take Rhythmol. I was hurt on my job and taken to Emergency Room there they gave me 2 shots of Dilaudid and a Percoset Tablet B4 the Drug Test and about a week later the Urine test people called me and said I was positive for the diluadid and Perco and METHADONE that I did not take!!! what do I do besides dispute it?? ## All you have to have them do it test for metabolites. When it comes to false positives they are possible, so when it comes to figuring out what it actually is they can test your metabolites because the metabolite from methadone can only come from methadone. Same with morphine, it's metabolite can only come from morphine. So if they test for the methadone metabolite and it comes up negative you didn't take it and it came from something else.

My son use to take meth, but has been clean for over 70 days. He takes 60 mg ritlian a day, 20 - 40 mg lasix a day, potassium each day. On days that he has a migraine headache he will take 2 Excedrin Migraine tables with a can of coke, and repeat it every 4 - 6 hours until the headache goes away. He is on probation so has to have two or three urine drug test a week. Some come back as dilute, so they give him lead way on them as he takes the lasix and drinks lost of water working outside all day. fALSE POSITIVE FOR METHODONE ## What medication was it that you were taking prior to the false-positive? On the cheaper, less reliable drug tests, it really does seem as though anything is likely to show up, no matter what you took; which can be pretty aggravating if one is falsely accused of taking something they didn't even know about. Have you asked about getting re-tested? I hope you're able to dispute this somehow.

Could it have come back false positive? ## I just liked it up and yes, it seems that some of the ingredients in Nyquil can cause a false positive on some tests for Amphetamines, Heroine, Methamphetamines, Morphine, Methadone and other opiates. They don't specifically state which ingredient it is, but the resource I use lists only the medications that have been scientifically/medically proven to register false positives for other substances.
