I took the first one at 8:00am this morning and its now 7 hours later..Im in pain! ## While they do make 30mg Morphine sulfate extended-release tablets, I know that everyone reacts differently to different doses, based on tolerance - So I can't necessarily imply that a higher dose will still benefit you, in contrast to any possible side effects that come along with it. For that reason alone, it would probably be wise to discuss this approach with the doctor who prescribed you both medications, just to be on the safe side. Since MS Contin is now made by Rhodes, I have heard there is a new brand name ER Morphine. Is anyone familiar with this? ## The Morphine ER is not a new brand, that is actually the generic, it has been available for years. I weigh about 110 pounds and I have been dealing with lower back pain from a fall which injured my tailbone and also have pain in my legs. For six years now . I was wondering how strong the morphine 30 milligram extended release was? I have had loratab before and 20 milligram oxycodone. But I certainly don't want to overdose on it. Can someone help me out? I have a fair tolerance to opiods. ## Hello, Sis! How are you? Each 30mgs of Morphine is actually equivalent to 20mgs of Oxycodone, so Oxycodone is actually 1 and a half times stronger, which should give you some basis for comparison. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ...

I was on 60mg of oxycontin 3x a day, and cuz of my insurance company had to switch to 15mg of extended release morphine.. I am very concerned about the pain or withdrawal symptoms. Anyone know if it's the same?? ## Oxycodone is actually one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so to be equivalent in pain relief, you'd need 90mgs of Morphine to match each 60mgs you were taking of Oxycontin. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I had no idea u could not break the pill in half and this is my first time taking it. I broke it in half and took it. I just now read how dangerous it is. I just came off my percocet yesterday and now take this. Is it common for it to be a huge problem or not real common. Im worried of overdose. So if i took 15 mg as i broke it in half going to be a huge problem? Ive been taking percocet and methadone for years and i high a high tolerance for opiates. How long would it take if something bad were going to happen? ## Hello, Jennifer! How are you doing? Did you experience any ill effects? I have been taking morphine ER 15mg for 3 years and hydrocodone/acetaminophen 10-325. I've also suffered from migraines for about 20 years. I get about 12 migraines a month. In the last couple of months I have noticed an increase to 20 a month, so I stopped taking my meds for 5 days and they seem to be better. So should I talk to my doctor about this? ## Yes, that would be a good idea, I think. Most opiates carry the risk of causing side effects, including headaches, according to the FDA, as well as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, and constipation. But any time you experience worsening headaches, or more frequent ones, you should have it checked out to be careful. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Morphine causes horrible headaches, that is the main cause for the migraines

It's my understanding that the manufacturers started making ER (extended-release) tablets that have micro encapsulated beads within the pill that prevent the over release of medication. The reason they did that was due to the trend of chopping the pills into powder and insufflating it recreationally, which can be lethal. ## I agree with your logic, especially due to the widespread stance big pharma has taken against drug abusers. A number of other pain medications (such as Oxycodone) have also undergone their own unique preventative measures in recent years. Although I suppose another reason provoking such change might be for cutting manufacturing costs, as they tend to do so frequently all across the board. Do you know if these new extended release tablets are still in "tablet-...

I have been struggling with chronic pain most of my life. I have been taking 3 60MG Extended Release Oxycontin tablets a day along with 3 30MG Oxycodone instant release for breakaway pain. After 3 years of the same dosage it's not working as well as it used to. So my doctor decided to change up the meds a bit. She gave me Morphine Sulphate 60MG ER twice a day and for the life of me I cannot feel this working. It's only been a day but usually I would have pain relief around 30-45 after taking the Oxycontin and then about 3-6 hours of relief. How is this Morphine twice a day at the same MG going to give me the same relief I was getting before AND was already struggling with hence the change to the Morphine? I don't get it, especially after everything I have read falls in line ...

Trying to identify a pink and white capsule which I believe to be Morphine ER. ## Are there any markings on the capsule in question? If it is an extended release Morphine, it should have some markings on it to enable their identification according to U.S. FDA law. The only exception would be for medications done by a compounding pharmacy, which would not be time released. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as headache, dizziness, drowsiness, constipation, and dry mouth.

I have a spinal stimulator that was put in place on 8/19/16. It's the worst thing ever! I'm on 30mg extended release morphine TID and 15mg ir morphine for break through, but nothing is working!!! I was on norco 10-325 TID for years but it began not to work like I built up a tolerance. Any suggestions? My doctor is conservative but I have no life in constant pain. Oh, I'm also on neurontin 1200mg bid and zanaflex 4mg qid. ## What issues are you having with the spinal stimulator? It is such a shame that is isn't working for you. What type of doctor are you seeing? Is it a pain management specialist, or just your PCP? I just learned that a friends, yes seriously a friend, has for the last nine days taken a half of a 15mg extended relief morphine every day and was planning to intermittently take a whole one to hopefully avoid withdrawal. My friend is doing this because my friend is going on vacation and his prescription becomes due during the time he is away. Our state has instituted "drug contracts" with the prescribing doctor and pharmacy for people using these types of drugs. This means he can not have it filled early to take with him, and his doctors office has rules about calling for the script 48 hours maximum before it is due. He was only trying to make it last so he would not be in as much pain and not go through withdrawal. I was concerned because I know you are not supposed to cut an...

i have been taking 50mg of hyrdocodone per day for the last 6 months and it is not working for the pain anymore. I have ankolying spondylitus. My Dr has put me on 15mg morphine extended release 2x per day. I took 15mg about 3 hours ago and so far not relief. My questions is will this work for me as I was taking 50mg of hyrocodone per day. ## How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? The ER Morphine is released slowly, over a period of 12 hours, it is not released all at once, like the Hydrocodone was, so you will not feel the same effect. There is also a change that this dosage isn't high enough for you. Have you informed your doctor of the issue? Though, it is usually best to give it a week, or so, to see if things improve. The FDA warns that these medications carry the ri...

I take morphine 60 mg 2 at a time it has a m on one side 60 on other. I know it's extended release but how much do u get at a time and how long does it last? Plus I can take 5 to 6 30 mgs of oxycodone at a time so how many morphines do I need to equal that? ## Hello, I believe that the absorption rate of any medication is determined by weight and other factors that only your doctor can asses. Is 5 to 6 (30 mg) Oxycodone pills what your doctor prescribed to you? I'm not exactly sure how many grams of Oxycodone will equal 2 (60 mg) Morphine pills, however I do know that Oxycodone is 1.5 times stronger than Morphine. I hope that information is of help to you in some way. If you are considering changing your medication, I recommend that you pay a visit to your doctor.
