Please see this as a hypothetical question in regards to having access to just several gastro-resistant pills in an isolated setting where swallowing them as usual would be too short a course to be effective and breaking the pills would allow the stomach to destroy them. I would like to know if this is a viable way to administer a measured amount of the antibiotic once powdered. I'm asking that, if necessity required it, whether nasal inhalation, insertion under the prepuce or perhaps applied to the rectum would be effective. ## Yes, hypothetically it would be effective. Erythromycin 250mg was prescribed to treat cellulitis ,a red itchy rash on my leg , I now know is an infection under the skin . I was asked to take the tablets every 6 hours. So found that difficult as I was asleep for the fourth one . I have one days medicine left , but had some more rash appear yesterday , I'm feel very weak and think I need more medicine , please advise . ## See the Doctor ASAP. Cellulitis is nothing to mess around with. It is in fact a very serious condition, you should keep the offending leg raised higher than the heart i.e: lying in bed with the head on a small pillow and the leg resting on four pillows stacked high! Rest, raised leg and get that medication corrected. You're not better after a ten day antibiotic? You might need IV antibiotics at this point...
