Hi, I am currently on EPITEC 200 for Bipolar Depression.. It is a wonderful drug and has helped me alot to get through life. I depend on EPITEC every day because it helps to keep my mood up, gives me confidence in myself. However, I've not picked up any weight for the last few years and it LOOKS like i am dying of hunger..(People worry)…I spoke to my doctor and he said that he will put me on EPILIM.. But, i need to bring my dose down first to 50mg. I am now sitting on my first day where i am down to 100mg and its honestly terrible. Does anyone know what will happen if i suddenly jump to EPILIM? I would like to know if Epilim is used to treat epilepsy? ## Yes, from what I found, Epilim (Sodium valproate) is indeed used as a treatment for epilepsy in children and adults. "Sodium valproate is used to treat epilepsy and bipolar disorder." Source: NHS.uk

I am on 300 mg Epilim for Bipolar disorder and 25mg of Serez. I stopped taking Serez after sleeping for 12 hours straight and have been drowsy for 2 days. Please help and explain the reason for this. ## Is this your first time taking both of these medications together? Based on my research, (Serez) Quetiapine may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, weight changes and sedation. Many of which correspond to your description. Something else you may want to be aware of is that other drug articles note that more than 1 in 100 people who take (Epilim) Sodium Valproate, experience "sleepiness" as a common side effect. Can I take epilim instead ## Hello Frikkie, I wasn't able to pull up much information on the epitec 50 but I was able to see that it's main active ingredient is Lamotrigine where as the Epilim 500 contains the active ingredient sodium valproate. This means that the two medications are not the same, however, they are both used to treat the same conditions. These medications are both used to treat epilepsy and mental conditions with episodes of overactivity, elation or irritability. I've been prescribed gabapentin for shingles. I also take ramipril for high blood pressure and epilim for fits. Is it save to take all these pills together? I also can't take aspirin as i've had two subarachnoid hemourages. ## Hello, Susanna! How are you? I am on epilim cr 500mg bd. Concerta 54 mg daily and serdep 100 mg nocte. I have severe anxiety and panick attacks. I drink xanor SR 0.5 mg prn, but more daily or twice a day. I still have severe panick attacks and anxiety. Can it be the other medication causing it ## Peanut, ABSOLUTELY concerta can definitely cause anxiety your best bet speak to your doctor and see what he suggests that combination of meds MAY cause anxiety and symptoms of a panic disorder to worsen.

HELP!! My daughter has been on EPILIM for 6 years and gained a lot of weight on it. She went on TOPAMAX (a year now) and she's LOOSING HAIR like crazy?!?! The Dr. wants her to go on TEGRATOL but I see allot of people are complaining about both HAIR LOSS and WEIGHT GRAIN on it? I am also considering ZARONTIN. I have Epilepsy and have used Epilim for almost 5years now and in that 5years I have gained almost 35kilograms. I have started to become depressed by getting fat from the Epilim so I turned to my doctor. He has now prescribed the Epitec 25mg for me and I must increase it gradually over a period of 4weeks to 100mg. Reading all of these confessions of Epitec I'm rather scared to take it now, as I'm used to Epilim. I DO believe that these medications make you gain weight, as I do follow a very strict diet and excersize every day, I still gain weight. Hi please can you advise me, my nearlogist prescribed me toplep as I was taking epilim and it was making me put on a lot of weight, I have been on it for four days now and have never been so sick ina long time. Can somebody tell me all the side affects of risperlet I use 0,25mg at nite and works so well for my bipolar condition. I used epilim before and had severe side affects which I don't have any on risperlet the correct dose if I use 0,5mg I get drowsy in the morning so ill stick with 0,25mg works perfect and I feel well everyday without loosing my mind when shopping at super markets I also don't have sweaty hands and feet anymore which used to go into panic attacks thank God I've finaly got the right medication and dose to. Since starting on Madepar 100/25 for possible Parkinson’s symptoms (the neurologist has not definitely diagnosed Parkinson’s yet as I have Parkinsonian symptoms after being on Epilim for at least 10 yrs as a migraine preventative treatment. I have been told that it can take up to 12 mths for ones metabolism to return to normal if you don’t have Parkinson’s and the symptoms are in fact from the drug. Since being on the madepar I find I am more outspoken, highly strung, and more extroverted.

I'm on Epitec 100 2 in morning. With 0.5 mg Rivatrol morning and night and 2 at night. In the evening I take 1 trimatriptolene to sleep, I think it is 25 mg. I have been on it for about 9 years. I still had Black-Outs (Mall Petit) January I had 3 vehicle accidents. I was then put on Epilim 300 mg but started with a rash after a week. I was told to go back on Epitec now I had about 5 Mall-Petit in last 3 months. I'm due to see the specialist in a few days. Is there something else that might work? I'm paid off and not aloud to drive untill I'm clear for six months. Thank you.

Someone I know was diagnosed with biopolar and depression. Have a background of substance abuse. He was put only on epitec 50mg twice a day. His saddenly stopped the epitec and have suicidal idees and even tried too.
