That is a sign of a blood clot. Im assuming you mean calf. That is what happened to me and I ignored it until I ended up in the hospital with multiple clots in my lung. I am also on xarelto now. They told me if I have calf pain I need to be checked immediately.

I have been on 20mg xarelto for almost 3 months now after having a DVT come up. I am supposed to have an ultrasound at the end of the month to see if the clot is gone so that I can stop taking it. I have multiple side effects happening. I have numbness and tingling in my feet, where it started and now it is moved up my leg to mid thigh as well as my hands and now moved up to my biceps. I teach yoga, work out daily and have been noticing a distended belly and weight gain for sure. I notice if I keep my arms bent for too long it cuts off circulation and my hands go numb which wakes me up at night and have also had pain between my shoulders regularly that I thought was just from spending too much time at my computer but am now wondering if it has to do with the drug. I am hoping that my cl...

I can kick myself ... I am on the tail end of my xarelto and I have taken a Advil by mistake should I be freaking out right nowrú. ## Hope you are feeling ok. I took aspirin once and there were no problems. They want you to avoid drugs that can cause stomach bleeding. My guess is you are ok today. ## Yes I am ok I was scared because of the warnings ## It needs to be noted here that it's not just stomach bleeding, but any increased risk of bleeding, which most NSAIDs, such as Advil can cause. If you require any type of medical care, or get a cut within a few days of taking the Advil, make sure to let medical personnel know. And if you see any signs of internal bleeding, such as vomiting blood or bloody stool, you should seek medical attention. Is there anything else I can help w...

I had a fall, and the emergency room said to go off the med for the night to help the bleeding stop, and to follow up with cardiologist tomorrow. I did this, but the cardio did not return my call, so I am unsure if it is safe to stop it for a second day. How do you wean it down? One day on, one day off? I need the injury to heal, but dont want to risk other problems. I wsd put on yhe med for afib.. ## Hello, Cecilia! How are you? What did you end up doing? It can be risky to take too many days in a row off of this medication, without tapering, since that increases the risk of clots and adverse events. Did your cardio get in touch? In most cases, it would be best to just take the one day off, as the ER instructed and, if in doubt, call them back for further instructions.

I had to take Xarelto due to two sinus venous thrombosis in my head. 8 weeks of heparin injections showed no side effects. But with the first day of taking Xarelto my body reacted by retaining water. Within the first three weeks I gained 24.46 lb hill exercising 5 times a week and eating as I always did. After retaining more and more water I stopped taking it after three months. I started with a weight of 120 lb at a height of 5''8 and now I weigh 157 lb. I have to ad that I started taking it in the middle of March and stopped taking it at the end of June. I was not able to loose any water/weight. I eat less than I always did before even while I exercise. All doctors couldn't find the one thing that changed through Xarelto. Has anybody ever experienced something like this wh...

I have been taking xarelto 20mg now for 2 weeks after being on 15mg twice a day for 30 days. I had a dvt blood clot that ended up with two pulmonary embolisms. Just in the past three days I have developed heart palpitations which I have never had. My heart skips a beat about every 3 beats. Not so much in the morning as in the evening. Does this have anything to due with the meds ## It is possible, according to NIH reports. Are you on any other medications, or just this one? Other side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising. Usually, with palpitations, your hear is not actually skipping a beat, you're just experiencing a softer beat that you don't feel, but it would be best to have your doctor check it o...

I was prescribed xarelto 20 mg for 20 days following foot surgery, due to a history of a clot in my calf, took last pill day before yesterday and my whole body, but especially my foot is swollen and retaining fluid I am fatigued and sore. I also have a superficial infection on the end of my Inscision and taking antibiotic might go to ER if it doesn't improve. Looks like lots of fluid retention. ## Hello, Christy! How are you doing? Has there been any improvement, yet? From what others have reported, this is a common effect from stopping Xarelto. Some people also experience fatigue, diarrhea and headache, as listed by the FDA. In most cases, the edema goes away on its own, but some people do need to take diuretics for awhile. ## I stop xarelto yesterday, today i noticed i didn't g...

On Xarelto for 6 days (taking for Afib). On 6th day was removing a credit card from my wallet and received a terrible bruise on the end of my middle finger (no pain at all when I removed credit card). I read on internet that there is no antedote for stopping any severe bleeding if you are involved in an accident or require immediate surgery. I read that other blood thinners do have an antedote, but Xarelto does not. Is this true? If so, what can be done (sounds very dangerous to be on this). ## Hello, Carrol! How are you? Yes, that is correct. If you are severely concerned, you should speak to your doctor about taking an alternative medication. The FDA lists the easy bruising as a possible side effect of this medication, along with nausea, dizziness and headache. Is there anything else ...

I have been on xarelto for 9 months for a PE i never had. I just seen a pulmonologist today and he said I didn't have a PE and I should stop taking them. I am very upset with my doctor and everyone that has taken care of me. My question is should I be worried about stopping them abruptly? ## Hello, Susan! How are you? There should be no reason to worry, since you've been given the all clear. As reported by the FDA, there may be some rebound blood thickening. Thus, it is best to check with your doctor first to make be sure whether or not there is a special procedure they want you to follow for stopping it. It's always better to extra cautious, when it comes to such things. How did you end up being diagnosed with a PE? ## Had some shortness of breath and a bad cough. Went to s...

ive been anticoagulated for 8 years. recently switched from lovenox to xarrelto. i am hoping the weight gain and the hairloss will diminish as i am lifelong on an anticoagulent. does anybody else know if these side effects end? ## Hello, Beatrice! How are you? No, from what others have said who also experienced it, such side effects do not go away. Many people have actually been unhappy with Xarelto and had to switch off of it. It may also cause joint/muscle aches and headaches. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I forgot to tell you people that being on Xarelto also has caused me to lose my hair. This has never happened to me before. ## Yes...me too. Hair loss, joint pain & weight gain on Xarelto has been acute and troublesome, for sure.

Well, I am very disappointed as I have been going to the same pharmacy for years and today I was shorted on meds (Xarelto), which I paid for and did not receive. Has anyone else had this happen to them lately? If so, what can be done about it? ## Hello Belinda! How are you? I'm very sorry about what happened. The best thing to do would be to return to the pharmacy and inform them that you were shorted on your prescription. Pharmacies do keep count of medications, so they should be able to figure out what happened on their end, and possibly provide you with the missing medication. I've had this happen, before, and never had a problem getting my pharmacy to provide the missing amount. If it were a controlled substance, it might be a different story, but Xarelto doesn't fall in...

I ended up in CC ICU with PE. Was put on Xarelto 20mg. Now my MA cannot supply anymore due to cost. What do I take now to avoid a similar scenario? Thanks. ## Dear Lady M ,I understood your case! This medecine is very expensive! I suggest you should go back to your Dr Asking for substitute other one chipper! Or you can ask a your Dr for Wafarine or 81 mg Asperin(ASA) These are good for your pocket but you have to have INR blood test frequently! Good luck! ## Yes, you need to consult your doctor to see what other medication might be safest for you to try, because they have to look at your entire medical history, as well as any other medications you might be taking. You can learn more about PE here. That site will also provide medication options that are available. Is there anything else ...

I have been taking xarelto for about 2 weeks and started having back pain where I can barely walk. Is this common and what can I do to help relieve this pain. ## Hello, Casey! How are you? Yes, the FDA lists this among the possible Xarelto side effects, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Unfortunately, most people have not found there to be any way to alleviate it, or any improvement. Most that have posted about it ended up having to switch medications, so you may want to speak to your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with?

Folks who have problems are quick to get on a site like this one. I would like to hear from some folks who have not had any problems and are satisfied with the medicine. Also, what % of folks have serious side effects. ## I would like to hear from folks who have had a relatively side effect free experience with Eliquis. The only folks who get on sites like this are those who have a complaint. Isn't their anyone out there who had a terrible free or close to trouble free experience? ## Eliquis now in second month no issues. Have taken xarelto for more than a year also pradaxa for two years no issue with any blood thinners over last five years ## i had rectal bleeding w/pradaxa w/in 2 days but i have been taking eliquis since the end of April w/no problems at all. nevertheless plan to ...
