>59 means greater than 59 so I think you're ok. CKD is chronic kidney disease. It seems like as long as your number is over 59 then you should be fine. I got the same result. I'm going to check with my doctor at my next check up but it's nothing to worry about I'm sure. I don't know why they put that note on blood tests, though. It just causes unnecessary worry. My family has diabetes and kidney disease - my grandma died of kidney failure - so it freaked me out enough to do a little research.

I had blood work done, and the result of myeGFR is 59 ## EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) exists on the cell surface and is activated by binding of its specific ligands, including epidermal growth factor and transforming growth factor α (TGFα) (note, a full list of the ligands able to activate EGFR and other members of the ErbB family is given in the ErbB article). ErbB2 has no known direct activating ligand, and may be in an activated state constitutively or become active upon heterodimerization with other family members such as EGFR. I had blood test and I had this result I was wondering what does it meen (persistent reduction for 3 months or more in an eGFR/=60 mL/min/1.73 m2 may also have CKD if evidence of persistent proteinuria is persent. ## Hello, Based on my research, CKD is defined as the presence of decreased eGFR or proteinuria, which can occur together or independently. From what I can gather, the definition of CKD is when blood tests show these results: -persistent decreased eGFR 1+) on dipstick or urine protein-to-creatine ratio > 0.2, confirmed on two tests at least three months apart. Does this help to answer your question? ## Hello , I'm African American and its says my Value for EGFR is >59 Then below that it says . what would make a low reading on the blood test result of a egfr ## My wife has endstage renal syndrome. She is African American age 65. her recent eGFR scores have been 10. 5 13.2 13.0 11.5 10.2 10.5 What if anything can she do with diet to stabilize these scores? Medication: iron, blood pressure meds(2 types) premarin and vit d, 2000. She has no obivious symptoms yet. Thanks ## A normal EGFR is considered to be 60, or more, numbers lower than that are considered abnormal, and may indicate renal failure. You can learn more about EGFR on the Kidney Foundation website. Safeharbor, does she have a medical condition that is causing these numbers? What have her doctors advised her to do?

My eGFR shows a level of 50; my Creatinine, Serum is 1.46 and my BUN/Cr raion is 14. I take Tricor, Lovaza, Pravastatin for lipids and Lisinopril for blood pressure. What does my eGFR indicate? ## My trigylcerides are held in check by Tricor. A year ago, my lab numbers showed Creatinine at 1.22 and last week was 1.46; eGFR listed as >59 last year and only 50 last week. Carbon Dioxide down to 19 last week from 22 a year ago. So, on Monday 2/7 Dr had these specific issues retested. Oddly, Creatinine now back to 1.23; eGFR above 60; not sure yet about Carbon Dioxide. Still using Tricor, thru all these tests. Why did numbers go to bad levels and return? ## I'm a diabetic, my bun level is 19, my creatinine level is 1.22, should I be worried.

I have my latest labs. I am able to decipher most of it but am confused about the term eGFR. ## From what I can discover, it helps measure how well your kidneys are working, one of the thing it measures it your creatine levels. It stands for: estimated glomerular filtration rate. Do you have any other questions? ## i have a eGFR >60 with persistent proteinuria is present. what this mean to my kidneys

on my blood test i have anote:Persisten reduction for 3 month in eGFR >/60ml/min/1.73 m2 defines ckd. My is >59ml/min/1.73. What is this mean? ## what does this mean in the blood results persistent reduction for 3 months or more in an eGFR 60 could mean there is protein in the urine, which can possibly signal kidney damage. This means your kidneys are allowing protein to be lost from the body. Only your doctor can really determine if there is a problem, sometimes these results can be caused by medications. Have you asked them about it?

Iressa Gefitinib

Gefitinib, sold under the brand name Iressa, is a medication used for certain breast, lung and other cancers. Gefitinib is an EGFR inhibitor, like erlotinib, which interrupts signaling through the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in target cells. Therefore, it is only effective in cancers with mutated and overactive EGFR, but resistances to gefitinib can arise through other mutations. It is marketed by AstraZeneca and Teva. It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Med...

CANCER PATIENT 150MG PO ## Do you mean Tarceva? ## This is from the Tarceva Web Site: Q. How does Tarceva work? A. Tarceva is a targeted treatment. It is designed to block tumor cell growth by targeting a protein called HER1/EGFR. This protein, which is present on the surface of some cancer cells and some normal cells, is important for cell growth in NSCLC. Exactly how Tarceva works is not yet fully understood; however, clinical trial results have proven that, in some patients, Tarceva can be effective in both improving patients' survival and slowing or stopping the growth of cancer. ## List most other cancer treatments, Tarceva may cause some side effects, such as lung problems, nausea, weight changes, dry eyes, unusual eyelash growth, and clotting problems. Has this been prescrib...
