No, these should not be taken together, because the Dextromethorphan in the Mucinex DM can elevate the levels of serotonin. That coupled with the Effexor creates the risk of your developing serotonin syndrome, which can be fatal. I have been taking Effexor XR, 150 Mg.for about 7 years.My pain management doctor suggested that I switch to Cymbalta, 30 Mg.for a week and then 60 Mg.We felt that Cymbalta would be a better choice with Tramadol 150 Mg.that I currently take.Does anyone have experience with Cymbalta helping major depression /anxiety as well as pain relieved?Will 60 Mg.of Cymbalta be comparable to 150 Mg.of Effexor XR? ## Hello, Shar! I was Effexor XR for over 20 years until the insurance no longer paid for it and I went to generic. I don't feel that it does as well. The same with Xanac. Hello, i have just started Effexor XR 75 mg this morning for anxiety and panic attacks. Took it 7 hrs ago. So far i feel ok, maybe slight nausea, a bit tired and dizzy. Could also be imagining these side effects as i am feeling very anxious about starting this med, but i have no choice in taking this treatment as i want to get my life back on track and feel normal and happy again. My boyfriend is on Effexor XR. We have been dating for 10 months and we've been dealing with his very, very low libido. I am very patient with him, but I can see myself eventually running out of patience. We actually haven't been intimate since Mid-July. So at this point it's been 5-months since he's had ANY interest in me. I have been self-reliant, but I am starting to have trouble myself, because I am tired of doing it myself. Due to weight gain and dwindle effect, my doctor switched my anti-depressant from Effexor XR. He told me to stop the Effexor XR immediately and start the Wellbutrin XL. He said to take the Wellbutrin XL for one week then start the Pristiq. FOr those of you who have stopped Effexor you probably know what I'm going to say next. I am moving from Effexor XR to wellbutrin xl because of severe weight gain. I have been trying to wean myself off to start the new medicine but I can't side the moodiness. Can I go ahead and start Wellbutrin if I have only moved from 150 Effexor to 75 so the change isn't do traumatic? ## What has your doctor advised? I have been on venlafaxine (Effexor XR 75 mg) for a 15 years. I have coronary angiogram procedure next week. I'm worried about the risks as I have read on the internet of the mortality rates after the procedure due to use of this particular antidepressant. Does anyone knows or has any statistics or advice?

Ihave been taking both drugs for quite some time but only recently have lost my sense of taste and smell and instead taste and smell only a metallic taste. Also take vitamin c, vitamin B-6 and B-12. Is the efficacy in dosing comparable or the same?? My rheumatologist titrated me off Effexor XR 150mg which I was taking to assist in controlling my Fibromyalgia pain & put me on Wellbutrin SR 150mg. I'm getting concerned about my husband. He has been put on Effexor XR 75 mg, together with Prazosin, and Clonazepam 1 mg, for depression and anxiet and PTSD. When he feels more anxious he will take another Clonazepam, or a half mg of it. I realize his dosages aren't high on these medications but he is also extremely sensitive to meds, so for him this may well be a lot. Lately he has been drinking, after being completely off the alcohol for quite a few years. He will start drinking wine after work, and will drink 3 or more 16 oz glasses. Then he will take another 1.5 of clonazepam some nights, or else 2 Tylenol PM's and go to sleep. Has anybody else been prescribed this medication for hot flashes? I have fibromyglia, CFS, nerve damage in my legs, Osteoarthritis in both knees, herniated disks in my neck, and three bulging disks in my lower back. I also have terrible insomnia. I am an MD who was RX Effexor XR for depression over 10 years ago. I took 75mg for many years and felt fine for a long time, but then wanted to get off of it. I would be in a panic if I forgot to take my pill and would experience strange dizzy/buzzing sensation behind my eyes. I was able to taper down to the 37.5mg pretty easily by alternating daily between 75mg/37.5mg. Then I got stuck and tried taking the lower dose every other day or every 36 hours but the side effects were too great. What is the exchange dose of effexor xr and Zoloft?( what dose of Effexor is equal to 40 mg. of Zoloft? ## There is currently no 40mg dose of Zoloft available, the closest would be 50mgs, so the information I've found is relevant to that dosage. Generally the switch requires 75mgs of the Effexor ER to equal the 50mg dosage of Zoloft. I've been on Effexor for about 3 weeks; has anyone had any swelling of the extremities? I do, and I'm thinking of stopping use and returning to Wellbutrin and Prozac (which I was on before). ## Swelling of the extremities is not a side effect of Effexor; however, high blood pressure is. Since Effexor can raise your blood pressure, you might retain fluid and need a simple water pill or blood pressure pill. I would ask the doctor about this before abandoning the medication,especially if the medication is helping with the depression. ## you might want to go to a grocery store each day for about a week, sit down for five minutes and then take your blood pressure. I am a person with clinical depression [past 30 years] who takes 150 mg of Effexor XR daily. I have done therapy in the recent past for a few years and concluded it when my therapist and I mutually agreed it was no longer needed and just went to medical maintenance with a psychiatrist, which was going great, but he just closed his practice for health reasons. I am having trouble finding a physician or private psychiatrist to just prescribe me with this medication and see me maybe twice a year for a med-check to make sure all is still going well.
