Help, I have been taking norspan 20mg for approx 15 months. Thus is for sacroiliitis and 3 herniated discs plus one completely squashed disc. Six months ago, I had the squashed disc removed and a spine fusion to correct a spondylothesis. Fusion at l5/s1. This is my 2nd fusion (aged 42) my first one at aged 13. I found lately the norspan isn't holding the pain so my doc changed me to durogesic 12mg. The first 5 days were insane, shivers, restlessness and unable to relax. I am now 2 weeks in and although most of the symptoms have passed, I still get incredibly restless in the evening (in my arms) and I can't relax which makes my pain worse. How long will this feeling last? Am I best giving up and going back to norspan? HelP ## Norspan contains the active ingredient Buprenorphine, ...

Hi, I have been on Fentanyl (Durogesic) about 8yrs. I started at 25mcg ended up to 100mcg every 48hrs. I have numerous chronic pain conditions. I had Glandular Fever then a few months later Ross River Fever (from a mosquito) I ended up with fibromyalgia and Chronic fatigue. I then had a work accident and had surgery to repair torn tendons in my shoulder. During surgery I had a stroke. Apparently there was no oxygen in the lines and this caused stroke. Things went downhill quickly from there. 56 ischemic strokes, a large cerebral aneurysm that required life saving surgery, a couple of smaller aneurysms that burst, I already had degenerative spine which got to the point I now have ruptured and bulging discs (ranging from neck to lumbar) and neuralgia in neck and jaw from the brain surgery. I cannot afford the Duragesic brand 75 µg/hr fentanyl patches that work great (my newer insurance only covers the generic brands), thus I use the generic Mylan brand. This presents three problems: 1) Even a Tagaderm patch over each Mylan patch won't prevent about 2 or 3 patches per month from uncoupling from my skin. 2) I kept a careful record of my pain level every four hours and whenever a new patch was applied day and night for 96 hrs. The data clearly show that no clinical amount of additional fentanyl leaves the Mylan patch after 36 hrs. This does not occur with the Durogesic patch. 3) I tried the Watson brand patch that has a gel-filled sac on it, and its performance was pathetic. The patches were very difficult to keep affixed and they provided significantly less pain re...
