Dry Throat

Hi Doctor I was diagnosed with acid reflux & placed on 6 months treatment of Altosec 10ml, over the past two months my throat & mount had been drying up causing me to drink lot of water & this gets better when I eat something, the dry throat & month is really uncomfortable at times if I don't pay attention to it I get dizzy & weak, lastly I've been getting a slight pain on the sides of my stomach - feels like my kidneys are uncomfortable. What could be the cause. of this conditions?

I have been taking phentermine and my mouth stays really dry...my tongue is white...kinda like the way it looks when you need to brush your tongue with your tooth brush..and it also feels like I have hair in the back of my throat. I experience it from my medications and it can be very annoying, especially the hair in the throat feeling, it has caused me to gag several times. Are you on any other medications?

I started using cymgen60 two months ago, to treat deppresion and anxiety. It was ok until I started to have these flu like symptoms i.e blocked nose, dry throat and mouth. My GP gave me nasal decogastant but it is not working. It helps for ten minutes, then I'm back to square one. I have been taking Lisinopril 40Mg daily for six months. Two months ago I began to have plugged nasel passage with no pain or pressure. The feeling I have is that my throat and nasel passage is extremely dry and it feels like I need to expel mucus from my nose, but there is none. I have been given two rounds of antibiotics, nasel spray and have tried every OTC decongestion and antihistamine, but none of these remedy my problem. Constantly trying to clear what feels like dried mucus and this does nothing but make my throat sore. Have also tried steam, nasel rinses and any home remedy to correct this. My mother is 82 yrs old and is bed ridden for the last 4.5 yrs due to knee & hip problem. she is diabetic too. She is on Mixtard. She is also Catheterized for the last 4yrs. I had a scratchy throat that was negative for strep. Nothing came up on the x-ray so I'm at a loss as to why it hurts to swallow. Any thoughts? ## Are you taking any medications at the moment? If so, it could be a possible side effect... Also, smoking, eating a lot of dairy, dry foods and/or not being hydrated enough can cause similar symptoms as well. I think if you're at a loss, it may be best to try and evaluate these various aspects of your life or diet to help reach a possible conclusion. Raw honey and tea may offer some level of relief in the meantime. I hope you feel better soon!

I have been on Gabapentin for 2 years for diabetic neuropathy, building up to 300mg x 3 times daily. Six months age I started getting a sore and burning feeling in my throat, which causes me to continually cough to clear my throat. I have had a camera down my throat and nothing bad showed. I had a runny nose, cough, headache, and low grade fever which all of these symptoms are now gone, but I now have sore throat and was wondering if I can take pentrexyl ampicilina for this condition. My husband was prescribed this med after telling his oncologist that he felt like he had something in his throat that was making it hard to swallow. For the last 3 days now he has had constant hiccups. I mean constant(even while sleeping). He's about at the end of his rope. I suggested that he take a dose of the "magic mouthwash". I have cough which started as dry about four days ago, I started cefloxacin tab three days ago, to arrest it beore it could grow worse. Unfortunately, rather than being cured, i am experiencing worse situation. Persistent coughing that is already paining my chest,throat, ribs and abdomen, with little whitish phlegm which msy be mixed with slight yellow-brown particles with salty taste consistently flowing out. It can cause a dry mouth and throat and it only makes sense that if you're dryer, your saliva would be thicker. You may find that sipping water frequently may help, unless you're on fluid restriction, or ice chips can also help. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, loose teeth, constipation and abdominal discomfort.
