I take 2 60 mg morphine sulfate er 3 times a day. What would be the equivalent for IV usage. I will have a 3 port chest cath shortly and was wondering if IV pain medication would control pain better and if so at what dosage to achieve the same effect as what I am taking or even slightly stronger. ## Each 60mg oral dosage is equivalent to about 24mgs via IV, but you will not get the same time release as you do from the oral, so your doctor may need to adjust your dosage, and administration of it, accordingly. The FDA warns that Morphine carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and headache. The pain control can be better for some people, via IV, but not everyone responds well to it. The only thing you can do ...
1 REPLY Filed under MorphineHi, how long does it take for restasis to work ? ## Hello, Pegostress! How are you? How long have you been using it? It may take a couple of weeks to reach its full level of efficacy in your body and increase tear products. Common side effects may include a burning sensation, red eyes, runny eyes and eye discharge. Are you on any other medications? That could also affect it. ## I am taking Bepreve for eye allergies thats it.. I think I need to move back to the city... I was on wellbutrin for years and my vision got so blurry now I need bifocals. So i got a double whammy almost 2 weeks now does nothing ## Bepreve contains an antihistamine, so it could actually be contributing to the dry eye. Have you tried any oral medications for the allergies? That might help, while eliminating the dry...
3 REPLIES Filed under RestasisBromaline is an oral solution but it does not give me enough information for what it is for. It was prescribed for my daughter. ## Bromaline contains Brompheniramine, this is used to treat cold symptoms and allergies. Some of the most common side effects include: drowsiness, sedation, dry mouth and blurred vision.
1 REPLY Filed under BrompheniramineI need this answer, I want to convert 3mg of IV morphin sulfate to the equivalant oral dose of immediate release morphine. 10mg of IV = 30mg of oral ## Each milligram of the IV solution is equivalent to 3mgs of the oral form of Morphine, so a 3mg IV dose would equal 9mgs of the oral dose. Morphine is a narcotic and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, constipation and dry mouth. Learn more: Are there any other questions?
1 REPLY Filed under MorphineMy bottle says 7.5-325/15ml. How much would be equal to 2 tabs? Would it be 30ml?! I have always been on the pills but I now switched doctors & I didn't notice he prescribed liquid lortab until I went to the pharmacy. ## Hello, Megan! How are you? Yes, however, you should not exceed your doctor's dosing instructions. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY Filed under HydrocodoneI am on Vagi-Fem (25mcg vaginal cream) twice per week for vaginal dryness. I've been instructed by my new doctor to take Prometrium (100mg) for 12 days every other month to make sure my endometrium is not thickening. I have not heard of this type of hormone replacement therapy before. I am post-menopause 12 years now. Is this a new therapy? What are the benefits/side effects? ## Prometrium has been on the market since 1998, it contains Progesterone. So, it is not really new. Have you tried asking your doctor or pharmacist for more information? ## Thank you for replying. This isn't the first time I've been on HRT but it is the first time I've been told to add the progresterone to balance out such a small dose of vaginal cream. I'm wondering if it is overload. My doc s...
2 REPLIES Filed under PrometriumMorphine liquid...after one year after opening. Its still the same color as when it was recieved. Is it still good? My back pain has come back and this medication is what was given before. ## Hello, Jessica! How are you? I am sorry that you're in pain. What is the expiration date on the bottle? Liquid medications tend to expire faster than most other forms and may actually turn sour, so they could make you sick, if you take one when expired. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth. It would also be a good idea to have your back checked out to be sure of what's causing the pain.
1 REPLY Filed under MorphineWhat is the difference? My script reads "Percocet oral tablet 10-325 mg" and the pharmacy gives me IP 204 10-325 mg. ## Hello, Dona! How are you? There is no difference. Percocet is the trade name for a medication that contains Oxycodone and Acetaminophen, so your pharmacy has provided you with a generic manufactured by Amneal Pharmaceuticals. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY Filed under OxycodoneI have a pain pump implanted about 1 1/2 months ago. Pain dr. is increasing Dilaudid 1mg/ml every two weeks. I am also taking Gabapentin 300 mg 2 times a day, 2 capsules each time. Are there side effects from taking the Dilaudid through pain pump and orally Gabapentin? I have had swelling in my feet, ankles and legs since the pain pump was implanted. ## Is your doctor aware of this swelling? The FDA does warn that you should check with your doctor, if that occurs, as you may need to try a different medication. Other side effects of Dilaudid may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. This medication also carries the risk of being habit forming. Ref: Dilaudid Information Gabapentin can also cause edema as a side effects, so it may also be contributing. ...

1 REPLY Filed under Birth Control / ContraceptiveI has been taking oxycodone 10-325 Everything i take them during the day i vomit them up,but before i go to bed i don't have that probably why? ## Hello, Pella! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. According to the FDA, narcotics can cause nausea and vomiting as side effects, in some people that take them. The reason it's only occurring during the day may be related to your activity levels, or something you're ingesting, such as food or drink. Have you tried taking them with food, rather than on an empty stomach? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. There are many, including Oxycodone, that are available without t...
3 REPLIES Filed under AcetaminophenCould the oral liquid be used to treat yeast on the outer part of the labia? Monistat seems to be clearing the inside but the outside has yeast as well (from antibiotics for pneumonia) i have nystatin liquid left from a previous time i had oral thrush from an antibiotic. Was curious if it could be applied to that external area? ## Hello, Jm! How are you? No, you shouldn't use it like that, it may contain ingredients that are irritating to the labia and may create more problems. There are many products available over the counter to treat the outer yeast infection, they are usually a cream that you rub on several times a day, so you can pick up one of those, if your doctor approves. The FDA lists its typical side effects as including redness and dry skin. Is there anything else I can ...
1 REPLY Filed under NystatinHi, so I've been taking Lo Loestrin for 5 days now and ever since the day after I took the first pill, it's been difficult to swallow and eat without choking. I also have bad breath because of the dryness that I can't get rid of, no matter how many times I brush my teeth. If anyone is experiencing similar things, please let me know, and maybe we could work on a way to get rid of it or decide if it's better to stop taking Lo Loestrin all together. ## Most medications can cause dry mouth, but I've never heard of it being that severe, from oral contraceptives. As reported by the FDA, other typical side effects may possibly include dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Given the severity, I'd suggest speaking to your doctor about trying a different...
4 REPLIES Filed under Lo Loestrin FeWhat is Extendryl used for? What are the side effects? ## Hi Kim, Extendryl is an oral medication used along with other medications to treat peptic ulcers by reducing stomach acid secretion. With the advent of proton pump inhibitors and antihistamine medications it is rarely used for this anymore. It can also be used for stomach or intestinal spasms, to reduce salivation, and to treat motion sickness. Extendryl is also commonly used as a drying agent, to dry up post-nasal drip, in cold and allergy medications (Extendryl, AlleRx, Rescon). Please follow the link below for more information: If you have any other questions or concerns, please post back and i'll be happy to assist you.
1 REPLY Filed under ExtendrylWhat type of syringe is correct as well as dosage equivalents? Can you administer this type by iv? ## Hello, Porvidavela! How are you? No, oral medications should only be taken orally as they may contain substances that are not safe for using in such a manner, such as fillers, sugars or etc. that may be dangerous. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. This dosage is 100mg per teaspoon, or 20mg per fifth of a teaspoon. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY Filed under OxycodoneHi my son is 4 months old and he has a dry cough and skin allergy (skin asthma) i bring him in the health center, and the doctor gave him amoxicillin trihydrate betamox 100mg/ml powder for suspension. my question is, this medicine is really the right medicine for my son's dry cough? cause as i've read that this kind of medicine is used to treat certain bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, lungs, skin or bladder. Betamox can also be used to prevent infection when you undergo certain dental procedures. is this really the right medicine for my 4 months old baby? ## Hi, Rizza! How is your son doing? And I have to agree with you, this is antibiotic that's only effective at treating bacterial infections, so it isn't likely to help with either issue. Additionally, the...
1 REPLY Filed under AmoxicillinWe are looking for the Oxycodone Hcl liquid that does not have saccarine sweetner in it. ## Most of them are going to contain some type of sweetener, to prevent the oral solutions from tasting awful. I am not sure which company makes any that don't have one of them in it. Have you tried asking your pharmacist if they can located any? Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## There is a morphine hydrochloride 5mg/ml but comes in other mgs talso 20mg/ml smg/ml etc etc made by a company in Sydney australia called ordine5 oral solution its in a aqueous solution with no sweetner it is alcohol and and sugar free .it is flavoured to improve taste but not by a sugar ## Mallinkrodt Brand oral solution has no sweetener , it tastes disgusting
3 REPLIES Filed under OxycodoneI started Effexor XR 75mg in July of last year. I had insomnia for a month, and continuous dry mouth until I bought some a dry mouth oral rinse. I was brought up to 150mg in December or January. I started sweating a lot at night. Changing my clothes 3 to 4 times a night. Insomnia lasted about a month. During all of this time, I also experienced weight loss as it suppressed my cravings. I have tried twice to cold turkey it, and both times it ended in disaster. Suicidal thoughts being the main one. I went to the doctor, and I am now on 75mg daily. (i did get the wonderful brain zaps and mood swings for about a week) What my main concern is: when I upped the doses, certain side effects would calm down after a month. Night sweats and insomnia. They would still be there, just a lot less. Now...
1 REPLY Filed under EffexorDoes metoprolol succinate oral have any effect on macular degenerative eyesight? I suddenly have had drastic lose of eyesight. ## Hello, Shirley! How are you? Other side effects may include nausea, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Are you on any other medications?
