My dr of 8 years dropped me 6 days before my next appointment and her reason was because I had missed an appointment with a dr that was gonna look and see if I still had a gallstone ,but I didn't miss it,I rescheduled it. They cut me cold Turkey on my pain meds and my gap ,with no time to try and find another dr. I have been stressing and having chest pains and my heart rate has been really high. Is this wrong of her ,or am I wrong? ## Under current U.S., no doctor is obligated to treat you, unless you are in immediate life threatening danger, nor are they obligated to prescribe any medications. I'm sorry, I know this information doesn't really provide any comfort, I am just stating how things currently stand. Additionally, in many cases, doctors also require a contract to t...

I met a woman about 2 months ago. I knew she had some issues. Maybe 1 month later I received a text from her asking for some of my pain meds. I refused & she must of texted 30x's. Just crazy! Later in the week I had to go about 5 hours away for a funeral of a good friend's dad & I received a call from my pain doctor telling me I needed to be in the office tomorrow for a "pill" count. I said I'm not in town. They said well the woman that called about you selling your meds must be right! She did threaten me on one of those texts!!! But I never thought it would go this far... So on the next visit they discharged me without any meds. And I've been on 30 mg and 40 ex for years! Now what? Any ideas? Please help. ## I need some info. as what to. Call the Med. Bo...

I was hit by a drunk driver in 99 and it took years to finally get pain managed and try to live a normal life. My pain Dr. Dropped me after a pharmacist lied and said i was attempting to pick up post dated rx the surveillance proves i didn't but now i have no doctor no meds and am very sick what do i do ## Hi lin, Sorry to hear about your situation. Based on the circumstances it probably wouldn't be best to ask for a referral... however, there's certainly other physicians out there who would still be willing to help you. I just can't imagine every single doctor turning you down for such a petty accusation; especially since they have no real proof in the matter to back up their claims. Have you already contacted any other pain management clinics in your area?

Hi all! I had Florida blue health insurance and they inadvertently dropped me yesterday. I turned 26 in June but my mom was able to add me to her employer plan in July. They gave me no notice in December and as I mentioned spontaneously cut me off. My first question is: If I decide against buying health insurance, can I still pay out of pocket to see my pain management doctor? From what I'm seeing on the website I think I can; and can I pay my prescriptions (narcotics included) in cash at any pharmacy of my choice without discrimination for not having insurance? Also, my second question is like I said I have been seeing my pain doctor and this whole thing couldn't have happened at a worse time as two weeks before Christmas I slipped and fell down the stairs. My doctor increased ...

My ex was being malicious and called my doctors office telling them I was an addict and questioning how much medication I should be taking (2 or 3) I take MS Contin 60 mg. Two days later, I get a letter from my doctor stating that I was an addict and he was dropping me. I wrote the dr and told him I will bring my pills in so he can count them and give me a drug test however, now the dr won't even call me back. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions? I have MS, disc problems and neuropathy pain plus, a metal plate in my neck. ## Unfortunately, the only thing I can really suggest is that you find a new doctor. Under U.S. law, if you are not currently in life threatening danger, no doctor is obligated to keep you as a patient or to continue to treat you, so you really have no rec...

I filed a complaint with NY Health Dept and was told a doctor can refuse to treat anyone at anytime as long as they give emergency care. That was a script for a mild narcotic for a month. If I took it as prescribed I would go into a massive withdrawal and would probably result in serious injury. Has this happened to anyone recently? ## Yes, it has happened to quite a few other people recently, because under the new laws, only pain specialists can prescribe such medications long-term for chronic pain treatment. And the health department was correct, no doctor is obligated to treat you, or to prescribe anything, unless your life is in immediate danger. Learn more Methadone details here. The one month prescription of a mild one was supposed to help you, so you'd have time to find a pai...

I dropped a 40 methadone in a glass of coke . What can I do .. I really them for my pain ## Drink the coke...or is there something here I am not catching? ## You dropped multiple Methadone tablets, or just one? If it's just the one dose, then I believe Art is spot on, it's not going to turn into a dangerous substance, just because it got mixed into coke. If it's multiple doses, then you can't do that, because you'd be getting too much at once and, if that's the case, you'll need to contact your doctor or clinic. Learn more Methadone details here. ## There are 40 tablets in there ## I just have to ask. How did you manage to "drop" them ALL into the coke? I mean you would almost have to work at getting that many to magically drop in that opening! What g...

I had a hysterectomy 9 months ago,I was suffering from severe cramping & heavy periods along w/ bladder leakage and painful intercourse. I'm was only 33, already had my 2 boys and a tubal ligation so I didn't want anymore children. I went to a new Gyno that a friend recommended, the first visit after the examination & some talking about my problems. He said I needed the surgery & sat it up that day for 3 weeks later. He said my bladder had dropped and it needed to be tacted up It was never even mentioned that a bladder sling would be used. I was just so happy to have found a Dr. willing to help me,I never thought to ask about the sling or mesh. It WS & had been all over TV for awhile, I assumed it wasn't even used anymore. Needless to say after the surgery I was

I saw a pain doc recently and he put me on oxycodone 5 mg. It doesn't work well and I took some tramadol from an old script. Should I worry about being dropped as a patient? ## if your doc gave the tramado you should be fine. and ask your doc if you could chage if it helped, pluse have a good x cuse my sife i hade nothing in my urine taking 10mg oxcodone and he gave me 1 more chang , doc have no prb but ty have to stop besuse there liusen ## Thank you for ur response. The tramadol was actually from a er visit. I have the bottle n everything. Hope it all goes well. Cant imagine being completely cut off from something like that. ## @painhelp, As a second opinion, I think you should be fine using it if you were already given the Tramadol from a previous visit. I think most doctors only...

First of all, I hate taking pain meds but I was almost completely bedridden for 2 yrs. They gave me my life back and I'll be grateful for the rest of my life. My insurance company dropped me right before I was gonna have surgery to get some relief. So I had no choice but to go with the pain meds. I've been on oxycodone 30/150 per month (5 a day) and MS Contin 200mg 2 times daily since 2009. Had breaks when I could. My point is, nobody knows what my daily life is like. I feel ashamed every month getting refills. Maybe it's in my head but the staff at the pharmacy gives me that "pill seeker" look. I guess all that matters is my doctor trusts me and he knows my complete history. I know I'm not taking them for fun. I'd much rather be normal. Can anyone relate to ...

Is it just me or is all the pain management docs trying to cut everyone down or back!!?? When I went to my last visit the doc had the nerve to ask me if I still needed my Oxymorphone 20mg ER (56). I was like YEAH, what do you think?! This is after they closed down for 3 months and I had to switch to Subutex to not get sick. And I got dropped from the 30mg oxymorphone. And by the way the 20'mgs are garbage. Then my doc asked me to get an MRI on my lower back, which I did the month prior. It just goes to show what a dumb ass he is and how they're so not in tune to what is going on! All they want to do is lower and lower your meds. Has anyone else had their doc try and taper them down or try and lower your stuff? By the way, I'm in south FL. ## Yes,I live on the east coast and ...

I've been on Hydrocodone 10/325 for 16 years. Last month my doctor dropped me to 7.5 after I told him the tens were no longer working. The doctor decided that he wanted to refer me to a pain management clinic. I'm from west virginia and I was wondering where I can receive subutex? I recently tried one and it helped greatly with my pain. ## Subutex is an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, it contains the active ingredient Buprenorphine. The FDA warns that it may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Ref: Subutex Information Since you are not an addict seeking treatment, then your best option is to go to pain management, as your doctor advised. They will be best equipped to help you, and many of them do p...

I've been on oxycontin 80s for yrs. A new pain mgmt doctor says I'm taking too much and has also refused to prescribe ativan 1mg 2 per day. I have been on a rollercoaster ride with meds being changed. I was given Zanaflex and Topamaze. Will these meds help me? Oxycontin dropped from 160mg 2xday, to 1 tab 3xday, no anxiety meds. Also changed Soma to Zanaflex. I didn't sleep much before this change, now not more than 2hrs a day. HELP!! A lot of yrs. of pain. I can't work anymore. I've raised a family, been a wife, raised Foster Children (My Children too). I love them all. I'm now a GrandMother that hasn't been there for her Grandbabies. I realize that I am new to this site so please understand that I don't usually complain about what I face in life. But her...

How well does methadone work for chronic pain management? I went from 10 mg oxycodone then dropped down to 7.5 mg hydrocodone and my pain is totally out of control. I have no relief. I am out of options except methadone or Suboxone. Please help. ## I was taking 10 mg oxycodone 4 times a day. I was forced to go to PM for my pain and got prescribed 7.5 hydrocodone 3 times a day, had to agree to mbnb injections if I wanted my meds. All I need is my pain controlled to get some quality of life back so I'm thinking maybe I should try methadone if it would help me. I need an honest answer. ## I had back surgery (Removal of discs with fusions L4 thru S1), caught MRSA and had another 3 surgeries after that to clean my back out of infection, he nicked my spinal cord and I leaked out fluid, an...

Hello, I am a 24 patient diagnosed with foraminal stenosis, lower lumber facet arthopathy, degenerative retrolisthesis, and neuropathy. I was put on Hydrocodone 7.5mg 4XD (120 monthly) three years ago. I had to leave my original pain management doctor after over two years because they dropped my insurance. I had to rely on my PCP to prescribe my medicine to me, but she dropped it down to 5mg - 90 a month until I get into a new pain management doctor (due to see one the 20th) despite my body having built a tolerance and being used to the higher dosage. I didn't complain, I've just dealt with more pain and have been put on sleeping medicine to try to get rest. My doctor has taken me off, put me back on, denied refills and treated me like some junkie, saying I'm too young and s...

I took 30 mg a day from3 weeks, then dropped it to 20 mg per day. About 6 days after dropping to 20 mg, I started to get pain in joints, primarily hands, feet, knees, elbows, etc. I am being treated for PE's. My rheumatologist tested me for all connective tissue orders which were all negative. I am suffering and only take Tylenol for pain, which is not too helpful. I am debating if I should switch blood thinners or if joint symptoms will reduce over time with the Xarelto. Thank you to all. ## Hello, Cenzo! How are you? Joint pain has been a frequently reported side effect of Xarelto and it doesn't seem to go away, which has caused quite a few people to have to stop taking it. Another commonly reported problem is weight gain of generally greater than 40 pounds. Is there anything ...

I have acute anxiety/panic attacks. My pain mgmnt Dr used to prescribe Ativan along with hydrocodone up till 2016 as their new policy prohibited it. Family Dr then prescribed my Ativan till the opioid crisis hit with the DEA, etc telling Dr's basically how to treat their patients. After several referrals to Psych Dr's within the same hospital as pain mgmnt, they said they could not prescribe it, that it had to be pain mgmnt. Each said other Dr had to. Anyway, found a decent Psych who after in depth appointments, past history, prescribed Ativan for me in June 2019. Went to my scheduled pain mgmnt appt July 3, 2019, and was dropped because I now take a legally obtained benzodiazepine and their policy is "One or the other, you choose". So I chose to be able to function in p...
