My husband is disabled. has had 3 hip replacement surgeries, moved to southwest michigan last month. husband's dr that was prescribing pain medication just up'ed and quit. now he is without a dr and can't find one taking pre-existing chronic pain. he really needs a family dr. he also has other issues & health problems. if anyone knows of a dr taking new patients could you please reply. thank you ## Hello, LindyLynne! How are you? Part of the problem here may be due to looking for a doctor to treat pre-existing chronic pain. If you call a new doctor and ask them about that, they're going to think you're a drug seeker and turn you away. He needs to just find a new PCP, without asking about that, once his records are transferred there and he goes in for an appointme...

Hi. I'm looking for a pain management doctor in New Orleans/Westbank/etc area. I'm 27 and some places I called only accepts 35+. My Doc of 6yrs has cancer, so he transferred his patients. I recently found a Doc, but he doesn't prescribe soma, and reduced my pain meds. I rather just find a Doc in my area, than drive to BR each month for less meds. Thanks. ## Many Doctors do not like to prescribe Soma. You are also taking Pain Meds too? As you know pain medicine and Soma go together. Doctors know this too. Now that Soma a Schedule IV medication, you will find it harder to obtain. Still possible. ## Hi, Honey! I'm very sorry about the problems you're having. Unfortunately, even if I researched doctors for you in that area, I have no way of knowing what age or type of pa...

i take dilaudid and tramadol and have been for a least 3 years, i take several 8mg dilaudid at a time. i reember demerol working nicely while i was in the hospital....how do i gwt me dr to give me that? ## Hi shawn, Some advice I can give you is to not specifically ask for any 'specific medication' when you see a doctor. Just make sure to transfer or take a copy of all your medical records with you if your doctor doesn't already have them. Then, the best approach in my opinion, is to discuss up front and honestly what has or hasn't worked for you in the past. Most doctors will then take it under consideration and hear you out if you approach them in this manner, with what you believe to be most helpful to your condition. I think a lot of patients don't get the medica...

I have severe chronic back pain and Fibromyalgia and have tried steroids, injections, therapy (both physical and mental) and nothing has helped except narcotic pain medication. But with the new regs. etc, I cannot find a Dr to prescribe them. ## I've been transferred to Muscatine, Iowa for business and I'm having trouble finding pain management clinics that will take cash. I've been in pain management for 14 years and a lot of the doctors that I've been calling in the Quad cities are not even accepting new patients. Someone please help.

Some advice I can give you is to not ask for any 'specific medication' when you see a new doctor. Just make sure to transfer or take a copy of all your medical records with you. I believe a lot of patients don't get the medication they need because they are approaching the doctor in such a needy way that they are being viewed as addicts or...
