Doxycycline Hyclate 100mg Side Effect

## My niece is taking this drug for acne it is 100mg and she takes it 1 X a day. SHe is experiencing chest pain and says it is a side effect of this drug????? ALso, is it ok to just stop taking this drug or does one have to wean off?? I would appreciate anyone's advice or experience on this drug. ## I am taking taking Doxycyle hyc 100 mg twice a day, I feel depressed, tired, dizzey and want to cry for about 3 hours after I take pill. Then I get better and all that goes away..I am taking it for a female infection..I can't tell that is any better, but they make me fell awful..

I'm supposed to be taking two doses of 100mg of doxy twice a day for ten days for upper respiratory infection. On my third day, but have only taken it once a day due to forgetting to take my second pill each day. Does this mean that I won't get rid of the infection because I'm not taking it right? Is the one a day ok taking even going to benefit me? Should I still continue the next 7 days and try not to forget taking it twice? ## The medication does need to be maintained in your body at a consistent level to fully eradicated the infection. Can doxycycline hyclate 100mg cause depression (because of the bad effect on the stomach). I was on it for a while (large dose) until my gut could no longer take it. I went off of it (for a UTI), when I felt better. I went back on it. From that point on I have had problems. Recently I was prescribed it for another UTI. I bravely took it & before the fourth dose my gut just plain went crazy. I cannot get a good feeling between my head & gut. I had all kinds of GI exams, all came out well for an 80 year old. I'm a hurting! ## The depression is most likely a combination of everything, not just due to the antibiotic. As to the GI issues, this antibiotic can be pretty rough on the stomach and generally, people over 65 are much more sensitive to medications and their side effects....

Taking doxycycline hyclate 100mg for possible urethritis. Have a 7 day prescription. have taken only one day, 2 pills so far. Woke up this morning and still felt pain urinating.
