No money right now for a dentist and I have a new bottle of doxycyline hyclate in 20 mg form (using for acne) pill says lci on one side and 1336 on the other, small round white. I have a tooth abscess and want to know if I can increase the dosage safely to 100 mg per day to fight the infection? ## @Jason, Based on my research, Doxycycline can be used for a tooth abscess. The usual adult dose for a severe bacterial infection is listed at 100mg orally every 12 hours for 7 to 10 days; (but the 100mg may also be taken once daily as a "maintenance" dose for less severe infections). My only question to you would be do you have enough pills to run a full course of treatment, in order to fully eradicate the infection?
