I have continous coughs during summer??? doctors say that it is allergic reaction but i did some online research..n i think it is copd...pls Reply as soon as possible..I am afraid...thank you ## You really should follow your doctor's advice to get the best results, they would be able to run tests to know if you have COPD, or if something else is causing the problem. It is highly possible that allergies could be causing your symptoms and it isn't safe for you to try to self-diagnose and self-treat. My mother aged 87 is hypertensive and has mile heart problems. Doctor prescribed Doxolin 400mg OD for asthmatic problem. She feels terribly week and disturbed while taking it. What is the reason? ## Doxolin contains the active ingredient Doxofylline, it is a bronchodilator, used to treat asthma and COPD. All medications carry the risk of side effects, although this one is known to cause less of them than most others, especially for cardiac patients. Does this tablet contain steroids? Also, what are the side effects of this tablet prescribed for bronchitis/asthma? ## Doxofylline is not an steroid. This tablet contains a bronchodilator which belongs to the class of xanthine derivatives. Doxofylline is an effective medication for the treatment of bronchitis induced asthma as an add on therapy (along with inhalers or other prescribed medicine). But it is also effective as sole therapy for the management of asthma. To my knowledge, it has no serious side effects. However, Doxofylline must not be taken with any other xanthine derivative, and coffee must be avoided when taking Doxofylline because this may increase the risk of side effects like increased heart rate and palpitation.
