Just took my 1st dose ever of Lisinopril and first noticed feet itching. Have slight itch all over. I'm not taking another dose reading here. Plus some of these people, maybe they should know about "toxic epidermal necrolysis" ? even a 10 in a million chance after viewing that disease, I wouldn't take anything that could cause it. ## There are risks associated with every medication, though some can be frightening, it is just the nature of adding a chemical to the body to try and correct a problem. You will not find any medication that is entirely risk free. The typical side effects are listed by the FDA as possibly including nausea, dizziness, increased urination, hypotension, and headache. Toxic epidermal necrolysis is a risk with most medications, and some medical proc...

I was told that Lisinopril WAS in the same ACE Inhibitor Class of Blood Pressure Medications, as Enalapril. Is that True, and how Comparable are they, to take, in regard to Doseage and Frequency? Thanks. ## Yes, they are both ACE inhibitors, the pril on the end of the drug name actually designates that. And Enalapril is actually twice as strong as Lisinopril, so you'd need to take twice as much Lisinopril to equal whatever dosage you were taking of the Enalapril. IE: 2.5mgs Enalapril = 5mgs Lisinopril 5mgs Enalapril = 10mgs Lisinopril and so on. Learn more Enalapril details here. Learn more Lisinopril details here. And the frequency is usually the same, they are generally taken once daily in oral form. Are you switching medications? ## Appreciate all of the GREAT advice,Verwon, on m...

Does anyone know if these two products are safe to take together? I asked this question before I ordered it and was assured it was ok. However, I just took my first dose and read the back label (I know....I should have doubled checked first). It states it's 'not intended' for people with high blood pressure! Ugh! Now I'm trying not to stress out so my BP level won't go up. Any information would be helpful! ## I am sorry, I really understand your concern. Being a heart and blood pressure patient myself, I have found myself in that same boat a few times, sometimes it is iffy knowing what we can and can't take. However, from what I can find, the NIH reports TruVision as being a manufacturer, not the name of one specific product. They make several natural supplements...

Can you take more than 80 mg of Lisinopril in one day? Just curious, to know if there is a higher dosage than 80 mg? ## Hello, Brenda! How are you? While some patients have shown a better response to 80mg dosages, the maximum recommended daily dose is usually only 40mgs, because there is limited data available on the 80mg doses and no, it is not considered safe in doses higher than 80mgs. Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, frequent urination and stomach pain. What condition is being treated? ## I am on 80 mg but weaning off. Ask your Dr about a diuretic if your BP is still high. Mine was 160/105 for 9 mos. My other Dr put me on diuretic and is is n...

I have OCD and I have a pill phobia and become obsessed. My question is how much is too much of Lisinopril 25mg? Toxic effects? also for HCTZ 25mg? ## Hello, Brenda! How are you? I understand, I have OCD myself and frequently do the same thing with medications, though I don't have a phobia about taking them. Anyway, I am very happy to help with more information. You should only take the amount your doctor has prescribed. But the maximum daily dose of Lisinopril can go as high as 80mgs daily, but it's rarely used in doses more than 40mgs daily. This medication is an ACE inhibitor that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, dry cough and hypotension. Hydrochloroth...

I have been taking Lisinopril /HCTZ 20-25mg. I,m out. I do have a bottle of Lisinopril 2.5 mg that was filled incorrectly, but I still have them. my blood pressure is high 155/96, and I have a terrible headache. is it ok to take the Lisinopril 2.5mg ## It is a much lower dosage, so it may not work as well as the one you are currently prescribed. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. In the future, it would be best to make sure you pick up a refill, before you run out, since missing doses could be dangerous. Have you consulted your doctor?

After he started taking 40 mg of Lisinopril manufactured by Wockhardt, my husband started experiencing pain across his shoulders and upper arms. Has anyone heard of this as a possible side effect? ## Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor that is used to treat high blood pressure and it is well known to cause these types of side effects in some people. Has he contacted his doctor? He may need to try a different medication. ## What happens if I took double dose of lisinopril-HCTZ 20 to 25 mg What can I expect to happen ? I normally take 1 pill a day.

i take lisinipril 10 mg once a day in the evening.....my bp is perfect all day until around 5pm then spikes up so ill take my pill...all evening im waiting for bp to come down usually takes a good 3 hrs to get good again...how can i better take it to avoid these spikes ## Hello, Danette! How are you? How high is it spiking in the evening? And when are the spikes occurring, are they happening after activity, after eating, or just close to the time of your next dose? Your blood pressure should fluctuate throughout the day, in accordance with some of the things I've already asked about, such as activity, eating, next dose being due and those are just some of the reasons listed by the NIH. I am a high blood pressure/cardiology patient myself, and I have learned that there are certain ti...

I am currently taking Lisinopril 10MG and Carvedilol 12.5MG in the morning and my blood pressure remains high normally at 144/79. If I double up would it reduce my blood pressure? ## That is not a dangerously high level, and you should not take more than your doctor has instructed you to take, when the medications were prescribed. How long have you been taking them? It can take awhile for them to reach their full level of efficacy in your body to fully lower your blood pressure. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. ## I accidentally took an extra Corug 25 mg tonight 3 hours ago. Should I expect any trouble? ## My blood pressure has been about 160 for a few days. I take 12.5 mgs of Carvedilol. Woul...

Question? My doctor prescribed Bisopr/hctz tab 10/6.25 and Lisinopril 20 mg. The directions are to take 1 tablet twice a day. Does this mean take one pill in the a.m. and one in p.m? ## it generally mean that yes. usually 12 hours apart or around a bout. ## Basically, if the prescription does not specifically say to take it every 12 hours, then you should take it when you wake up, or with breakfast and then take the next dose at dinner time.

can 10mg tab be cut in half for 5mg dose ## Hello, Serie! How are you? Yes, unless your doctor has instructed you otherwise, you can safely cut this tablet in half. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and dry cough. Is there anything else I can help with?

I take 1 Lisinopril at 10:30 am, 1 Amlodipine at 3:50 pm, and another Lisinopril at 10:15 pm ... BUT, I accidently switched the 3:50 dose of Amlodipine and took the Lisinopril. Is there a cause for concern? I am a 58 year old female who suffered 2 TIAs. I also have carotid stenosis, left atrial enlargement, and diabetes type 2. Please advise. ## There shouldn't be any reason for concern, unless your doctor feels otherwise, but you should skip the next dose, so you don't end up taking too much of the Lisinopril. As a matter of fact, most people take Lisinopril as a once daily dose, rather than splitting the dosage, since it tends to help people remember to take it, if they don't have to remember repeated dosages. Taking too close together with the previous dose may increase s...

I went to the doctor with a blood pressure reading of 161/102 so she put me on lisinopril-hctz 10mg. My BP dropped within 30 minutes to 83/60 after just 1 dose. It has been 3 days now and my BP hovers between 83/60 and 111/63. I'm now a bit concerned because my BP is usually 134/90-140/95 (sometimes higher) and this just seems a bit low. Is this normal after just 1 dose? ## Hello, Cattz! How are you? While the 134 and 140 are not dangerous numbers, the 90 and 95 are concerning, normal is considered a systolic of 120 or less, and a diastolic of 80 or less and it should be treated to lower it to more normal and safer levels. As to the Lisinopril/HCTZ, no that is not normal after just one dose. But what I'm wondering is if the 161/102 reading was just a temporary elevation due some...

My doctor is switching me from 100mg 2x a day labaetlol to 40mg lisinopril 1x a day how do the doses differ or are they comparable? I'm really nervous about switching I'm worried it'll drop my BP to low I've never had to take meds til I had my son and developed high BP from pre eclampsia I'm 21 my BP reads 150-130 top number and 90-100 bottom number ## What is the reason he gave for switching you? Labetalol is a great medication and also very effective, so if it has been controlling your blood pressure, switching away from it actually doesn't make sense. Learn more Labetalol details here. They aren't in the same drug class, though they are used for the same things, so you really can't compare the dosages. Learn more Lisinopril details here. ## The labetlo...

What are your normal blood pressure numbers? You can safely take up to 40mgs a day, but your blood pressure may go lower than normal, which could cause you to experience nausea, dizziness, headache and hypotension, as reported by the FDA. Hello I have been taking a blue oval lisnopril 10-12.5 hctz once day. Can I cut this dose in half as I feel that dose is to high for me. There is no score line but have a pill cutter.. ## Ask your Doctor he/she may have something better in mind for you. Don't be doing such things on your own unless ;you are your own MD. ## I'm not suggesting you do this without discussing it with your doctor first, but I will say that cutting a pill in half to take a smaller dosage should not be a major concern as long as the tablet is not an extended/time-released formula. The notion that doing such a thing may be harmful without a doctor's supervision or say so, is "not always true" in my experience. In cases like this, taking the full dosage or tablet more than likely presents a g...

I ran out of lisinopril, 20 mg, i have really bad headach can i take 10mg enalapril, dr and pharmacy closed now. ## Hello, Diane! How are you? How long have you been out? What do you take it to treat? These are most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and if you have just run out and only missed one dose, it shouldn't be high enough to cause a headache, but if it is, you need to seek emergency medical attention.

No heart problems otherwise. feedback appreciated ## The test should actually be reported twice more, a month apart each and then, if it stays low, your medication may need to be change and other tests done. I've had mine drop, before, due to dehydration. Once it was rectified, things returned to normal. There's also a chance that this drop to yours is just temporary, due to the Lisinopril, but may return to more normal levels as your body adjusts. However, the 55 was also sl...
