How much eno should be given to 5 year old kid to relieve stomach pain? ## ENO is an over the counter antacid containing sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), and citric acid. According to the manufacturer's product page, "ENO powder is indicated for adults and children who are at least 12-years-old." I was diagnosed as diabetic mid-December 2014 and put on Lantus shots and Metformin 500 mg at breakfast and dinner. Does this med harm kidneys or liver or any other bad effects from taking it? Are there metformin pills that are lower in mg? Will I have bad reaction if I stop taking it? ## Hello, Fred! How are you? I understand your concern, but the reality of your situation is that your organs would suffer far more damage if you don't take the medication and keep your blood sugar under control. Yes, there is some slight risks to taking the Metformin, but these problems only happen to a very small percentage of people that take it. However, 100% of the people who have diabetes and don't properly keep it under control will suffer organ damage and complications. Thus, I strongly ur...

Need to know how much amoxicillin to give my 40 pound kid ## Hello, Al! How are you? You should give them the dosage their doctor prescribed. When under 12, it is usually dosed by their weight and according to the severity of the infection. The FDA classifies this medication as an antibiotic and its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. The dosage for a 40 pound child could range anywhere from 360mgs a day in divided doses to 540mgs a day in divided doses. I also strongly urge you not to try to diagnose yourself, because improper use of an antibiotic could result in them developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was prescribed 5/325 mg tablets and told to take 1-2 for pain from kidney stone surgery. I did NOT have it filled because I still had some at home. I took one about 90 minutes ago and realized that they are 10/325. Is it ok to take another one or would that be dangerous. I know nothing about pain meds. ## It would depend on your tolerance and if you're taking any other medications. For someone not used to taking opiates 20mg of Oxycodone is quite a bit. However, it's not enough, in my opinion, to worry about overdose. You'll likely just get very sleepy. If you just took a 10/325 why do you feel the need to take another so soon? Also, if you're taking a benzodiazepine or muscle relaxant be careful. These drugs combined with Oxycodone can synergistically cause respirator...

What is the recommend Amoxicillin dosage for a 6 yr old who is 46 lbs? My son is 6 yrs old and has a bad ear infection in one ear. Doctor gave him 500 mg of Amoxicillin 2 times/day, 2 teaspoon (10mg). He weighs 46 lbs. I just think it seems like a lot for his age. Please let me know if it's ok? Thank you! ## Hi Inna, According to an article I found on the site for Livestrong, kids between the ages of 2 months and 6 years old are usually given 80 to 90 mgs of amoxicillin per kilogram of body weight per day. This is supposed to be divided up into two or three doses and is generally prescribed for about 10 days. Every child may react differently though...so unfortunately I can't say for sure whether this dosing schedule is right for your son. That question seems like it'll be b...

Hi. My 2 and a half year old son was prescribed amoxicillin by a doctor at the hospital. I know he said to give it 3 times a day but he never stated whether to give 2.5ml or 5ml. It's got 250mg/5ml on the box. How much should I give him 3 times a day? ## I have my son 3 years old He has infections in hear and noses I don' t have the proper Amoxicillin for a kids, so the one I have is 500mg pills Please how you can assist me ## @Vikki, If it's got 250mg/5mL on the box, then my understanding is that this is the standard dosing protocol to take as instructed. However, according to the MayoClinic, "if the child/infant is older than 3 months of age & weighing less than 40 kg (88lbs), the dose is then based on body weight and must be determined by the prescribing doctor....

I'm looking for dosage information for a 7 year old. My niece is puking (exuse the language), and I can't seem to find the correct dosage information for kids who are over 5 years, under 12 years. I have the phenergan(promethazine), 50mg. We cut it into 12.5 mg quarters, and we're trying to get her to keep one quarter down. This drug has done absolute wonders in the past, both in tablet and suppository formulations. It can really save a trip to the hospital for dehydration, if you get it into the system early enough. I just can't remember the dosage for someone her size. ## Hi Gary.... I am not sure when you posted this, but just as a FYI, 12.5 mg is fine for her age. If she has never had it before then just keep a close watch on her and any breathing changes the first f...

My son is 12 1/2 and weighs 105 pounds i was wondering what the top dose of Ritalin should be for him. His behavior is getting worse daily and I was wondering if his dose needed to be adjusted and if so what not to go past ## Sorry I can't help with dosage information except that, from my experience, i strongly recommend the Extended Release version (e.g., SR/Timed-release) which I think would help prevent addiction and/or continually increasing dosages as your child ages and gets bigger. I worry about this for kids because, in my experience, Ritalin is quite addictive (more so than Cylert was which was discontinued). However, doctors aren't necessarily going to keep your child on it. Taking one drug a day as opposed to 3-4 is much less habit forming. Whatever dosage, please try...

Frequency of application should be determined according to severity of the condition. Duration of therapy varies depending upon the extent and location of disease and patient response. I've been taking 50mg for 4 days now with little improvement for a kidney infection. I intend upping my dosage to 100mg for the next 3 days. Will this improve the effects and/or is this ok to do? ## Hello, Jessica! How are you? Has there been any change? Generally, according to the NIH, if there has been no improvement after taking an antibiotic for a full 3 days, it likely means it isn't working for you and you may need to try a different one. The FDA lists the typical antibiotic side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. ## Hi, thanks for this. It turns out you're right.
