My mom was given Acyclovir 800 mg to take 5 times a day. What does that mean??? ## 24/5=4.8 hours or 288 minutes or 4 hours & 48 minutes ## Your math is right, but should we take the number of waking hours and divide by 5 rather than the entire 24 hour period? So accounting for sleep, 16 hours awake / 5 times = 3.2, so about every 3.5 hours? Update - I looked up the Acyclovir dosage guidelines on DailyMed, and it states "800 mg every 4 hours orally, 5 times daily for 7 to 10 days." ... So it seems like somewhere in the middle of both of our answers lol

What instructions did your doctor provide when prescribing this medication? The reason I'm asking is due to the fact that dosage varies, depending on your cholesterol levels. It is sometimes taken as often as 3 times a day, but only if someone's levels are very high. Once they lower, then the dosage of this medication would be lowered to maintain a good healthy level. According to the manufacturer, the typical adult dosage of Orlistat is 120mg taken orally 3 times daily. Apparently you're supposed to take each dose with every meal you have that contains fat. However the manufacturer goes on to note that the dose may also be taken within about an hour of finishing your meal(s). I was prescribed 270 30 mg oxycodone take one every 2-3 hours as needed for pain. Is this a common dose? Taking one is like taking 4 Advil, so taking 2 is like taking 8 Advil. It could cause problems with you're stomach, not 2 mention dangerous effects. ## The maximum recommended dosage of Ibuprofen for adults is listed at 800mgs, to be taken four times daily. Given the increased risk of side effects, it probably would end up doing more harm than good if you were to take two of these.
