Hi, I'm Jeremy from South Africa, I was diagnosed with Clinical Depressive Disorder, and my doctor put me on Nuzak 20mg for the past month. I think 2 weeks into the month, seeing that my sleeping patterns, paranoia and anxiety levels weren't norming he put me on Dopaquel 25mg (to increase dosage every 7 days till 200mg, I'm currently on 100mg ). I've been on both now for quite some time now but my only concern is I've gotten to a level where I think I've built a tollerence for both these drugs and no longer feel the effects them (cause my sleeping patterns have decreased once more). I'm too concerned about this, what advice can I kindly get? ## What time period do you consider as being on them for quite some time? It usually takes about 4 to 5 weeks for both ...

Since being on Dopaquel and Serdep I have gained 20kg. I have been off the meds for a month now. Has anyone gone off the Dopaquel and lost weight? If so, how long did it take? ## The active ingredient Quetiapine is most commonly used to treat various mental health disorders. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and mood changes. However, Serdep, which contains the active ingredient Sertraline, so it may also cause weight gain. Generally stopping them, or switching medication does result in weight loss, but it really depends upon you and your metabolism. Are these the only medications you are currently taking?

Has anyone taken Deplin? Is the side effects harsh? ## Deplin contains the active ingredient "L-methylfolate"; which is actually considered to be a vitamin. Apparently L-methylfolate, the active form of the vitamin, folate, is the only folate that can be taken up by the brain where it helps balance the chemical messengers that affect mood (serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine). I think the information quoted below can help answer your question concerning side effects: "Folic acid is LIKELY SAFE for most people. Most adults do not experience any side effects when consuming the recommended amount each day, which is 400 mcg. Clinical trials were looking at the use of opiod agonists as off label anti-depressants. Since they block the release of glutimate without the more addictive opiate side effects. Also, releases more dopamine? Ketamine also being studied as well as anti-inflammatory drugs in combination with opioid agonists? I am probably mistating the complex bio-chemistry involved, but bottom line it seems like anti-depressant meds are all moving toward reducing inflammation by reducing glutamate release, (or is it the other way around) from the spinal column by binding opioid agonists to the pain receptors. Thereby also increasing dopamine release. I know several experimental drugs were in the pipeline but some fizzled out. Any ideas as to truly "new" anti-depressants for treatment resistant m...
