Is there any tramadol that contains codeine? I was given a white oblong capsule and was told it was tramadol with codeine... ## No, Tramadol is an opioid narcotic that is actually stronger than Codeine. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and dizziness. What are the markings on the tablet? That is what would enable me to double check the active ingredients for you. Can you please post back with more details? Thanks!

Hi - I was taking Codeine for a number of years for severe pain, i was told i was suffering with osteoarthritis and eight Cocodamol a day did not touch the pain, whilst i was taking Codeine i was angry and little did i know my BP was very high, it was only when my BP was taken that i found out my BP was touching 200/ to cut a long story short after seeing a Neurologist and having tests it was discovered that my pain was being caused by Hereditary Motor Sensory Peripheral Neuropathy, i was taken of Codeine and put on Lyrica and Tramadol, my pain is now controlled i am no longer angry and my BP has been normal ever-since. So the story is this if you are taking any medication containing Codeine and are suffering with HIGH BP it may well be Codeine, so mention this to your doc. Warm Regards...

If you are allergic to codeine would you be allergic to tramdol? ## Hi Vanessa, According to addictionblog.org, Tramadol does not contain codeine. "Tramadol is a synthetic drug. This means that Tramadol is created in laboratories and is the result of chemical reactions. It is NOT a natural product, like codeine, and is called an opioid due to its chemical make up." That being said, you shouldn't have an allergic reaction to Tramadol, but everyone reacts to medication differently so I would definitely speak with your doctor before taking it. Iv had three wisdom reeth extracted two days ago and the pain is getting worse.. Iv been prescribed tablets that don't dont seem to help very much at all.... Is it ok to take two melfen at once as I was told that was te strongest of what I was given. I was also given solpadol tablets too... Can they be mixed? ## Hello, Sazcoyne! How are you? No, the Melfen just contains Ibuprofen, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. However, the Solpadol contains Paracetamol and Codeine, the Codeine is actually a narcotic analgesic, which would likely help a bit more. And no, please don't double up on anything with your dentist's approval. Are there any other questions or concerns?

Does tramadol 50mg contain codeine? The pharmacist that I spoke to while picking up the prescription assured me that it does not. I'm severely allergic to codeine and as I read the packet I got with the medication it says if you are severely allergic to codeine to not take this medication. Please help. ## Hello, Nicole! How are you? No, the pharmacist was correct. Tramadol is the active ingredient, it is a mild opioid analgesic. Thus, the FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. If you are allergic to one narcotic, there is always a risk that you may be allergic to others, but it isn't a very common occurrence. Tramadol itself, however, is not Codeine. Is there anything ...

I've been on Tramadol for 7 years and my Doc has taken me off them and switched to Co-Codamol. I've got Pregabalin and would like to know if it will help with withdrawal? ## Hello, Pat! How are you? If you've switched to Co-Codamol, then the withdrawals should be minimized, because it contains the opiate Codeine. What dose of it are you taking? The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I take Co-codamol for arthritis 30/500 and Gabapentin 300mg. Is it safe to also take a low dose of Tramadol as well? I also have gout. Are there any contraindications? ## The Co Codamol contains Codeine with Acetaminophen, so no it shouldn't be taken with the Tramadol, since it and the Codeine are both opiates. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Have they all been prescribed for you?

My husband was prescribed Tramadol for back pain to stop the spasm, but we also noticed they stopped the persistent cough he had had for weeks, can he get something similar that would work as well. ## It would require a prescription, just like the Tramadol, but there are medications used for cough that contain Codeine or Hydrocodone. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
