The bottom of both of my feet have a burning sensation especially when I go to bed and I can't sleep. My pain dr. prescribed Gabapentin 300mg (1 before going to bed for a week and then 2 thereafter). I've just started taking it last night and I couldn't get to sleep, tossing off and on all night. My primary dr. prescribed Zolpidem for sleeping which makes me sleep and I don't feel the burning sensation. My question is, can I take both meds before bedtime? ## Continue zolpiden no need to take gabapentin. I think Feeling burning sensation on your foot because of sleeplessness. So continue zolpiden ## Added info.: Dr. that prescribed Gabapentin stated my burning foot sensation is Restless Leg Syndrome. Do you still recommend taking Zolipen rather than Gabapentin? ## Hi Jim,...

Hello, I've been taking 75mg of nuvigil now for only 2 days. The only real side effect I've experienced except slight nausea is that i feel wide awake after 3am. I go to bed at 11 with no problems but the once 3ish comes around i have a wide awake feeing. Im not wanting to take it anymore cause i NEED my sleep!!! Recommendations?? ## Hello, Amy! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. It may be that the 75mgs is too high of a dose for you and you need to speak to your doctor about trying a lower one. The FDA lists the other possible side effects of this medication as including dizziness, headache and nervousness. What time of day have you been taking it? That could also play a role.

I started Contrave 4 days ago, today being my 5th dose. Every day, I take the pill about 8am and by 9:30-10am I am so sleepy I can't stand it. Days 1 and 2 I managed to fight it off until about 12-12:30, day 3 until about 1-1:30, and day 4 I fought it off until 3pm. If I take a 1-2 hour nap, I wake up fine, with energy and then cannot get to sleep until about 2am, sometimes 3am. Today is day 5, I'm having that "drunk" feeling and sleepy, but no where near how it has been. It seems this effect is slowly wearing off, but I haven't seen anywhere where this is a common side effect. I know all medications effect everyone differently, so I'm wondering if this is something I should be concerned about, or just another side effect that I will get used to as the weeks go o...

Can you please post back with the shape, and color? Those can be side effects of many medications, according to FDA warnings, they may also include nausea, mood changes, and weight changes, though these are just general side effects. Are you on any other medications?

I take 70mg of methadone every morning as maintenance to stay off of H. Sometimes I get tired and want to take a nap and there have been a few times that I have taken a nap in the past. Those few times when I woke up I felt like I had not had any methadone that day. Does methadone wear off when I go to sleep and why does it feel like I haven't had any even if I take a nap only 2 hours after taking it? ## Hello, Chrissy! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. No, it shouldn't do that. Did you take any other medications at that time? Did you do anything else different? Does anyone know more about this? I've heard of other medications affecting it, but not sleeping. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may c...

Remeron helps me sleep great at night but doesnt help control my mood swings in the day though.. my doctor said it was a mood stabalizer and would help but yet I still see nothing! I still stay irritable during the day.. and I also take zoloft during the day but still nothing! So as far as remeron being a mood stabalizer its bull to me but does help me sleep, thats just about all it does ## Hello, Chrisyy! How are you? Zoloft is an SSRI antidepressant and Remeron is an NSS antidepressant, so based on that I can only guess that they just aren't the right medications to help your irritability. Have you talked to your doctor? You might want to ask them about trying an SNRI or a tetracyclic antidepressant.

i have been on nuvigil for 5 gays 150 mg the first 3 days i felt great awake during the day and slept great at night. now when i take it I feel tired 3 hrs after i take it like i could take a nap. does that mean i need to take a higher dose or can i cut the pill in half and take it twice a day ## Hi there, I have been taking nuvigil for about a year now. I have severe narcolepsy & the 150mg did absolutely nothing for me either. I contacted my neurologist & he didn't hesitate to up my dose to 250mg & it immediately worked for me. Contrary to what most people believe, It all depends on how severe your sleep disorder is, and has nothing to do with your weight, gender, or age. I'm a 27 year old female, 125 lbs, 5'7". Does Periactin really work for weight gain ## I've tried it! It opens ur appetite and makes u gain weight, but it makes u really sleepy. ## Periactin contains the active ingredient Cyproheptadine, it is used to treat allergic reactions, nightmares, migraines and seratonin syndrome. It is not approved for use in the US as an aid in gaining weight, though since some doctors have found this to be a side effect, they may, at their discretion, prescribe it for such as an off-label use. Other common side effects may include: drowsiness, headache, nausea and suppression of growth. You can read more here: Are there any other questions?

I was on serequel and stoped. it also caused weight. what drugs help to sleep but gain weight? ## Hello, Bunnt! How are you? You may want to speak to your doctor about trying one of the regular sleep inducing medications, such as Ambien. The FDA classifies it as a sedative hypnotic that's used for the short-term treatment of insomnia. Its typical side effects may possibly include dizziness, dry mouth, hallucinations, sleep actions and next day hangover-like effects. Does anyone else have any ideas? ## tizanidine helps with pain and helps me get a couple hrs of sleep too. see if you can try that. i love it!

I am taking 3 30 mgs of MSContin per day. It makes me sleepy and I need a nap about an hour after taking it. My Doctor is willing to switch me to OxyContin 30 mgs 3 30 mgs per day. Which medicine makes you sleepier? ## No one can say for sure if a certain med will make you sleepy. Morphine is more sedating, for most people, than OxyContin is. ## Hello, Candy! How are you? When I was on pain management for several years, Morphine always knocked me out, but I only experienced a little drowsiness with Oxycodone. However, as BL has stated, no one can say how any given medication will affect you. We are all different, so the only solution is to try it and see. My husband has been taking Cheratussin AC 10-100MG/5ML. He has not slept since he started taking it. (over 46 hours). He has bronchitis and is coughing a lot. Should he not take this. He is 73 and no sleep concerns me. ## I'm not sure what might be causing his insomnia, it could be due to the coughing itself, that can make it very hard to sleep. The medication shouldn't cause it, since one of the ingredients is Codeine, which usually causes drowsiness. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is he taking anything else? Has he gotten any sleep, yet?

I am currently on morphine (one every 4-6 hours) for severe stomach pains until i can make an appointment for a scan. I get tired a lot, often makes me groggy and quite weak. Other symptoms i get with morphine are headaches and nausea. The tired part is normal due to the medication being very strong. ## Hello, Khloe! How are you? Yes, those can all be normal side effects of Morphine, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience dizziness, headache and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello Khloe, Narcotic medications have numerous different effects on people and they also vary how they affect those that take them. It sounds like you haven't taken those types of medications before, or at least not much at all. First off please make sure you're not doing...

Why does a Watson 932 make you so groggy? Never had this happen could they be old? ## Hello, Bella! How are you? Watson lists this tablet as containing 10mgs of Oxycodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen. The FDA classifies this as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I mean like, checking out, suddenly, unable to not drift off. Has anyone else experienced this? ## Hello, Beth! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. That is listed as a known side effect of this medication in some people that take it, that's usually why you're advised not to drive, until you see how it affects you, so you won't be nodding off or getting dizzy while driving. Other side effects as listed by the FDA may possibly include nausea, headache and dry mouth. It may be best to speak to your doctor about trying a different muscle relaxant. I have been taking Oxycodone as prescribed, 30 mgs. per day/ 3 times a day. I can't stand having to sleep all day. When I wake up, I am very depressed. I suffer from Treatment Resistant Depression. My pain went from a 5 to close to 10 and walking is even difficult. A family member hired a cleaning lady and someone to do other tasks for me, but I feel terrible having that paid for. I need a new medication. ## Hello, Candy! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. That can be a side effect, as listed by the FDA, that some people experience from Oxycodone, along with nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. I have been on chantix 6 weeks...totally smoke free for 4 weeks...however my sleeping pattern was awful...three nights ago I quit taking 2 dose and just taken morning...slept like a baby since.... ## If you missed two doses of chantix in a row, it's likely that your body was probably experiencing some early effects of withdrawal symptoms. If or when you decide to stop taking the medication, I'd highly recommend contacting your doctor first in order to get proper instructions for tapering off. A lot of people here have been complaining about how bad the chantix withdrawal symptoms are, so I think it would be wise to play it safe until you get a-hold of your doctor. I hope this helps!

Having trouble sleeping at night and was wondering if propranolol would help as they slow your heart beat? ## No, it is not safe to try to use them to induce sleep. Propranolol can cause some drowsiness as a side effect, but it is actually most commonly used to help lower high blood pressure and improper use of it can be dangerous, due to the fact that it can lower your heart rate and blood pressure. You can learn more Propranolol details here. Thus, the first thing you need to do is get to the root of the problem. What is causing you to have trouble sleeping? Have you tried cutting out stimulants after 3pm, such as caffeine, chocolate and sugars? Do you keep a consistent bedtime and wake time? ## Propranolol can help some people sleep, particularly if their lack of sleep is due to anxi...
