How are you? Sorry about the weight gain. And yes, beta blockers, such as Metoprolol can cause weight gain in some people that take them. Have you talked to your doctor about it? It might be best for you to try a different medication. ## I gained 20 lbs in 2 months. Same scenario no change in eating habits, exercise, etc. Asked my Dr. and a Pharmacist and they both tell me there is nothing chemically in the Metropolol that would make me gain weight. It has to be the medication what else? I am 69 yrs old and have weighed the same for 5+ yrs and now quickly 20lbs?

I am the same. I have lost 85 lbs over the last 1 year. I have gastroparesis. After 120 days on linzess I am up 15 lbs. I was holding my weight before this prescription. I'm gonna stop this for a week and see what happens. I actually fasted for 1 1/2 days taking weight in A.M. and P.M. only having water and fruit juice (Low Sugar) and didn't lose anything? ## Hi Chuck, I don't know if this is would accurately describe the type of weight gain you mentioned, but according to nih.gov, Linzess (Linaclotide) is known to cause swelling or a feeling of fullness/pressure in the stomach region that may appear as added weight. It can also cause excess gas to from, which may also contribute to feeling bloated. I'm thinking perhaps either of these side effects could be the culprit, ...

im 29 yrs old but my weight is only43kgs.. many people are telling me that im really thin.. some said im like skin and bone.. i want to gain weight.. ## How tall are you? Do you eat a good, healthy diet and get lots of exercise? Some people are just meant to be tiny, not everyone is the same and meant to be heavier. Being overweight is much more dangerous than being thin. As long as you aren't dangerously thin, then there is nothing to worry about. Have you consulted a doctor about your weight?

After 2 months of use i've noticied ankle feet swelling and increased edginess. Anyone one els? i use 3 pumps per day. ## From other T injection forums, this is an estrogen issue that can be handled with estrogen blockers. More common with T injections as they deliver so much all at once. ## I believe Dankster is partially on the right track, the weight gain and fluid retention are due to estrogen. When you supplement a hormone back, it tends to wake up the estrogen receptors in your body, so things go kind of crazy for awhile and yes, an aromatase inhibitor that blocks estrogen may help, if it's safe for you to use one. However, the edgy feeling is most likely due to the testosterone itself and it just your body adjusting to the higher level of it. The same thing happens to wom...

After 10 years of attempting to gain weight its failed every time. I see all these people who have shared the same problem. Us skinny people need to stick together and demand justice for being ignored of our unhappiness. Is there a problem with weight gain taking neurotin? Also, I was told it is not a safe drug and has had several lawsuits. ## NEURONTIN FOR MOOD DISORDER ## You are for sure going to gain weight and NEVER feel full on it. Lyrica and gabitril are just the same also you will feel HOT like you are going to catch a fire. ONE NASTY MEDICATION ## I've taken both medications. The Neurotin didn't help at all but I've been on the Lycria for several months now. I've had minor weight gain but have never felt like I was going to catch on fire or even a hot flash. Both of these med's have been used for years. The best thing to do is speak with your doctor. ## The effects of drugs vary from person to person, there is no way of knowing if it will cause side effects or weight gain fo...

I want to gain weight..please help me.I am female..20 years old.please reply me gain weight drug. ## Hi niki, To gain weight in a healthy manner I would suggest the first option of portioning out your meals every 2-3 hours (right around 6 meals per day). These meals should include natural nutrient dense foods with little to no empty calories, so you can get the most out of each meal. Another option which would be useful to include with the above information, is to supplement with something that will increase your appetite. Depending on your view and the legal status in your country/state, medical marijuana has extreme appetite increasing properties; however there are other pills out there that can do pretty much the same thing. Most importantly (in my opinion) is to get as many fruits a...

I have been taking Gabapentin 300 mgs.- 2 caps 3 x's a day. have continued to gain weight and cannot lose it. A friend said that Gabapentin is the reason. I researched it and it is true. It does take away t.n. but I gain weight!!! What is the answer? ## Yes, it has been known to cause serious weight gain in some people that take it, according to NIH reports. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and dry mouth. If the weight gain has been severe, you may want to speak to your doctor about trying an alternative medication, such as Pregabalin, to see if it may not cause you the same issue. I have been taking doxepin for about 3 months. I gained over 30 pounds. I stopped taking it this week. Has anyone had this problem? Did the weight come off after you stopped taking it? How did you do it? ## Hello, Sophie! How are you? Most antidepressants, regardless of their class type, are known to cause weight gain. But yes, it usually does fall off, once you stop taking it, though it may take a month or two. Have you tried any others? There are some, such as Wellbutrin and Prozac that don't usually cause the weight gain, but can treat the same types of conditions. Their typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello. I have a question. I have been taking terbinafine for about 37 days now. I also had my gallbladder removed on April 8th of this year. My eating habits are relatively the same, yet I have gained 13 pounds in a month. I guess my question is did the medication make me gain weight or is it because I have no gall bladder? I also have extreme belly bloating now that I'm very unhappy about. ## Hello, Christine! How are you? No, it hasn't been known to cause weight gain according to the FDA reports, but it has been known to cause the bloating. Other sid effects may include nausea, ear congestion, diarrhea and taste disturbance. Are you on any other medications? ## Verwon Thanks for replying. I went off nuzak but at the same time changed from Eltroxin to Diotroxin. In that change I have been putting on weight and my stomach feeling uncomfortable and bloated constantly. Would it be from the Diotroxin that I'm now on and isn't working for me? Or possibly coming off the Nuzak? I'm thinking about going back to Eltroxin but not sure which could be the cause. ## Such symptoms would most likely be due to starting a new medication, those aren't things that are normally caused by stopping one. Diotroxin contains Levothyroxine and Liothyronine and these types of medications are well known to cause weight gain and GI upsets, such as what you're experiencing. These side effects should start to taper off in about 4 to 6 weeks, as your body adjusts to the medication. A...

Im a 51 year old male with long standing testosterone issues. Several years ago my T level was 113. I was placed on Androgel1.0 then Androgel 1.62. Both had little to no effect. The Doc started giving me T shots every 2 weeks and the results were better but I still felt worn down. After my T levels fell to 118 in early November 2013 I had testopel pellets inserted. My sleep pattern INSTANTLY improved. The following morning I was awake at 5:39 am. Improved sleeping and intermittent burst of energy are the only benefits I have noticed. Since the Testopel insertion 25 days ago I have gained 13 pounds while keeping the same diet and have not thought about intercourse once. Has anyone had similar results? Any thoughts? ## Hello, Jimmy! How are you? Has the doctor checked your other hormone l...

This is my story: I've been taking Invega since 2013. I read dozens of pages on the Internet and they say it causes weight gain. I read everything on the papers they had in the medication box when I bought it and it says it causes weight gain. I asked many pharmacists and they say it causes weight gain. I asked more than 15 patients that take medication (same or other) and they say it causes weight gain. I asked friends or other people that know or not know about it and they say it causes weight gain. And ALL ALL ALL ALL psychiatrists say it does NOT! Filthy LIARS! I gained 43 kilos in less than 3 months. I was 68 kilos and now I am 111 kg. Every month I lose 1 or 2 kilos and gain them again. I have been taking lyrica for 7 weeks now for severe nerve pain. I began to gain a lot of weight immediately but because the drug is so effective at relieving my pain, I was very reluctant to come off it. Three weeks ago I began the 5:2 diet - eating 500 calories on 2 non-consecutive days each week and normally for the rest of the week - ('The 5:2 Vegetarian Diet Made eZy' by Polly Fielding and `The 5:2 Diet: Single Serving Vegetarian Recipes' by Belinda Price are books I bought to help me). I was amazed at how easily the pounds dropped off after only a couple weeks. I am on 150 mg twice daily. I do hope this helps someone with the same worries I had about the side effect of weight gain whilst taking lyrica . ## Yes I agree, I too was able to control my weight while on Lyric...

I've been on multaq for my afib diagnosis since April and have gained 12 lbs. in such a short time after just having lost 40 lbs in the many months prior to diagnosis. My healthy eating has not changed and exercising doesn't help to rid the pounds. I can only attribute this new additional weight to multaq. Has anyone else experienced weight gain being on multaq? ## Yes, that is a possible side effect of this medication, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. However, it should top out around this gain amount and should not continue. If it does, you should contact your doctor. Are you on any other medications? ## Only other new Med started at the same time as Multaq is Eliquis. Otherwise I've been on couple other meds for years.

I am on 300mg of Seroquel, & 4mg of Xanax per day since my return from Afghanistan for PTSD, anxiety attacks, bipolar, and agoraphobia. I also take Morphine, Soma & 300mg of Gabapentin for pain. I broke a few vertebrae & was also shot. I maintained my weight since I was a teen, but since the medication I've gained 30lbs & I do the same workout since I was 15 & no matter what I do can't lose weight. Can the Seroquel be causing this? Or do you think it's a combination of what I take??? Please help. I started pristiq approx 5 weeks ago and altho my doctor assured me that it was a weight neutral drug I have easily gained 12 pounds and right exactly around the middle. I have been very careful not to consume more calories and have even been more active. I am very concerned that the weight gain will continue or will it just become a side effect that the body gets used to and eventually levels out? I do feel so much better on the drug and this has been my only side effect. I have a small frame however, and a dozen pounds all in the same spot is hard to conceal especially in the warmer weather. If anyone has any thoughts on some solutions other than discontinuing the drug I would greatly appreciate the advice. I sure wish that all these antidepressants did not come with some major trade ...
