i have put on 40 lbs since starting metropolol. not changed my diet any and do the same am't of exercise but still the weight. went on several diets, curves etc and really watched but no weight loss ## Hello, Betsey! It might be best for you to try a different medication. ## I gained 20 lbs in 2 months. Same scenario no change in eating habits, exercise, etc. Asked my Dr. and a Pharmacist and they both tell me there is nothing chemically in the Metropolol that would make me gain weight. I am the same. I have lost 85 lbs over the last 1 year. I have gastroparesis. After 120 days on linzess I am up 15 lbs. I was holding my weight before this prescription. I'm gonna stop this for a week and see what happens. I actually fasted for 1 1/2 days taking weight in A.M. and P.M. only having water and fruit juice (Low Sugar) and didn't lose anything? ## Hi Chuck, I don't know if this is would accurately describe the type of weight gain you mentioned, but according to nih.gov, Linzess (Linaclotide) is known to cause swelling or a feeling of fullness/pressure in the stomach region that may appear as added weight. After 2 months of use i've noticied ankle feet swelling and increased edginess. After 10 years of attempting to gain weight its failed every time. I see all these people who have shared the same problem. I have been taking terbinafine for about 37 days now. I also had my gallbladder removed on April 8th of this year. My eating habits are relatively the same, yet I have gained 13 pounds in a month. I went off nuzak but at the same time changed from Eltroxin to Diotroxin. In that change I have been putting on weight and my stomach feeling uncomfortable and bloated constantly. Would it be from the Diotroxin that I'm now on and isn't working for me? Or possibly coming off the Nuzak? I'm thinking about going back to Eltroxin but not sure which could be the cause. ## Such symptoms would most likely be due to starting a new medication, those aren't things that are normally caused by stopping one. Im a 51 year old male with long standing testosterone issues. Several years ago my T level was 113. I was placed on Androgel1.0 then Androgel 1.62. Both had little to no effect. I have been taking lyrica for 7 weeks now for severe nerve pain. I began to gain a lot of weight immediately but because the drug is so effective at relieving my pain, I was very reluctant to come off it. Three weeks ago I began the 5:2 diet - eating 500 calories on 2 non-consecutive days each week and normally for the rest of the week - ('The 5:2 Vegetarian Diet Made eZy' by Polly Fielding and `The 5:2 Diet: Single Serving Vegetarian Recipes' by Belinda Price are books I bought to help me). I've been on multaq for my afib diagnosis since April and have gained 12 lbs. in such a short time after just having lost 40 lbs in the many months prior to diagnosis. My healthy eating has not changed and exercising doesn't help to rid the pounds. I can only attribute this new additional weight to multaq. Has anyone else experienced weight gain being on multaq? ## Yes, that is a possible side effect of this medication, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. However, it should top out around this gain amount and should not continue. If it does, you should contact your doctor. I am on 300mg of Seroquel, & 4mg of Xanax per day since my return from Afghanistan for PTSD, anxiety attacks, bipolar, and agoraphobia. I also take Morphine, Soma & 300mg of Gabapentin for pain. I broke a few vertebrae & was also shot. I maintained my weight since I was a teen, but since the medication I've gained 30lbs & I do the same workout since I was 15 & no matter what I do can't lose weight. Can the Seroquel be causing this? I started pristiq approx 5 weeks ago and altho my doctor assured me that it was a weight neutral drug I have easily gained 12 pounds and right exactly around the middle. I have been very careful not to consume more calories and have even been more active. I am very concerned that the weight gain will continue or will it just become a side effect that the body gets used to and eventually levels out? I do feel so much better on the drug and this has been my only side effect. I have a small frame however, and a dozen pounds all in the same spot is hard to conceal especially in the warmer weather.
