I took a half of perocet over and hour later wasnt thinking and took two tsps of codeine based cough med. My head feels weird. Should i be sure not to fall asleep? Im worried ## Hello, Kate! I'm a chronic pain patient due to Fibromyalgi/Chronic Fatigue and Degenerative back & hip disease, for 21 years I've tried all kinds of meds and only narcotics have ever helped.. I'm on Percocet 15 mg, 1 every 4-6 hours, for 6-7 yrs now. . (Long acting meds behave as short acting in my body, so can't take anything long acting...which prevents me from being able to use a breakthrough med). Hi, I want to wean off Oxycodone 5/325 onto Codeine with Acetominophen 30/300. I take one and a half every four hours or so. Can I start reducing the amount of Oxycodone to one, and then half and in the meantime start taking one one of the Codeine and working up to two as I taper down? ## I do think that is a wise approach, however, there is an interaction between Oxycodone and Codeine. I have been taking percocet 7/325 three (3)X daily along with oxycontin every day for several years, prescribed by doctor due to several herniated discs. Recently I traveled out of the country and was surprised to see codeine products for sale in pharmacies without a script. I purchased a couple of boxes of Co-codamol 8/500 , hoping it would be an effective backup for times when I ran short of percocet. (I am not getting "high" for fun, I have chronic pain and a very full workload with no support system)however the co-codamol tablets don't seem to work for me unfortunately they don't really relieve my pain they just make me tired. Small white pill with NM 11 printed on one side and nothing on the back ## I took endocet as prescribed by my Pain Specialist Dr. after dinner and after 30 mins. or so, I began experiencing light headedness, shortness of breath, vomiting, confusion, unusual thoughts... ## Oxycodone will do that to some people, especially if you are not used to taking narcotics or senstive or allergic to some other narcotics such as codeine. Another alternative is that those can also be just regular side effects from taking it and they will seem more acute if you are not used to taking narcotics. Most narcotics will cause shortness of breath, but if you found it truly bothersome, then I would suggest speaking to your doctor so they can prescribe an alternative medication.

Im wondering why I would be able to take darvacett & percocetts but I cant take vicodin. Arent theese medications all the same? Would the fact that I have a codeine allergy make a difference? Darvocet, which is no longer available contained Acetaminophen and Propoxyphene, Percocet contains Oxycodone and Acetaminophen, while Vicodin contains Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen. Is a tec 30 stronger than a percocet 5? Is taking a tec 30 the same as taking a percocet 30? ## If I am not mistaken TEC 30 contains 30 mg of Codeine, whereas a Percocet 5 contains 5 mg of Oxycodone. As far as comparisons go I had a look at the Equianalgesic table and it's showing that Codeine is 1/10th the relative strength of Morphine, where as Oxycodone is 1.5 times stronger than Morphine. So to break that down ... 30 mg of Codeine ≅ 3 mg of Morphine ... 5 mg of Oxycodone ≅ 7.5 mg of Morphine. In other words, a Percocet 5 is over twice as strong as 30 mg of Codeine.

Codeine and it's immediate relatives, such as the Dihydrocodeine in this are actually very weak, so the Percocet is a stronger analgesic. The Oxycodone is 10 times stronger to be more precise. Is a Tylenol 4, white round pill with 2065 v and 4 on other side, equal to a Percocet 10? Was just prescribed this from emergency room. But I have not taken it before. Amneal's oxycodone, generic for percocet 10/325 is white, oblong, blank on one side, and imprinted with IP 204 (not IP 203)! I usually take Watson or Mallinckrodt, 10/325, (2) tablets every 4-6 hours (240 monthly), but I was given Amneal today when filling my script, and I am not happy! I have cancer, and I also take morphine sulphate 30 mgs as well (1 every 12 hours), and Fioricet with Codeine for severe migraines (as needed)! I do not feel Amneal is sufficient or even close to the chemical makeup as Watson or Mallinckrodt for controlling pain/chronic pain! This is 30mg of codeine hcl, no Tylenol in it. These are hard to get unless you have a liver problem. There very addictive. ## Codeine is a narcotic pain reliever and, as such, it has a much of a danger of addiction as any other narcotic. I also wouldn't say they are necessarily harder to get, because they can also be prescribed by some doctors to prevent a liver problem in people that may not have one, but are at risk for it.
