light purple with abg one side and 30 on the other I was told this is an oxycontin 30 is it ## Oxycontin is the name brand for the time released formulation of Oxycodone manufactured by Purdue Pharma and there is no generic of it available. This tablet does contain 30mgs of Oxycodone, but it is not time released, it is a regular release formulation, which would be a generic for Roxicodone. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. Read more: Are there any questions or comments?

Hi, I've been on 30mg of oxycodone a day_-20 mg on waking and 2 sep. doses 5 mg through day. I have a severe neuropathic/nerve pain and an upregulated central nervous system which includes akathisia. The oxycodone had been a life saver. It also stopped the terrible depression and terror I had been feeling since a bad medication reaction brought on this whole syndrome. One more 5 mg a day would have been really needed, but at least I had started to feel I could survive and life was starting to improve. I was really staring to enjoy living again much of the time. Long story, govt. steps in, no more oxycodone. Saw lovely pain specialist, and he's put me on oxycontin 30 mg morning, 15 mg night. This was 6 days ago. Each time I've taken oxycontin, instead of the unagitating, untw...

I've been taking Oxycodone 30 mg for neuropathy several years. Recently I was hospitalized five weeks and put on OxyContin 40 mg plus Oxycodone 15 mg for breakthrough which worked like a charm. My problem being is that my 77 year old PCP won't prescribe a time-release and considers them dangerous. My question is this; how do I wean off this med using my leftover 30 and 15 mg Oxycodone until I can locate a new doctor who will prescribe the OxyContin? Plus I'll need to wean from my Oxycodone if I can't locate a doctor. I fear the withdrawal plus the horrible pain of Neuropathy returning full guns if I can't find a new doc. PLEASE someone PLEASE help me with this problem as I'm terribly frightened ## Clonidine helps for withdrawal symptoms. ## Thanks so much for ans...

Why do so many people want to abuse OxyContin leaving those of us who actually prescribed it for pain on the edge? ## I KNOW ITS SO UNFAIR PEOPLE THAT ABUSE OXYCONTIN MAKE IT HARD FOR PEOPLE THAT HONESTLY NEED IT FOR CHRONIC PAIN. I HAVE TAKEN 4 80MG OXYS FOR 10 YEARS AND MY DOC LOST HIS LICENSE & I NEED DOCTOR WILLING 2 TREAT MY PAIN WITH IT IN MONTGOMERY OR BIRMINGHAM AREA. ## Sorry to point this out but stefanie, your approach to pain management is largely a reason for this. I am sure you are a chronic pain sufferer but the problem is that now you are looking for a doctor to specifically prescribe this drug to you - you came into this thread and instead of answering Thomas' question you posted how you are looking for a doctor for this drug. Thomas, as you can see, this medica...

I have a blue round pill that has an R on the top and 215 on the bottom. I cannot remember if it is my Oxycontin or the generic for it. Can you please let me know if it is my Oxycontin? ## Yes it is the same thing... it is oxicodone. Blue round with R and 215 is oxicodone 30mg. ## Is there any way that the R on the pill could actually be an A ? The reason I ask is because a blue round pill with A 215 on it is Oxycodone 30 mg, generic for Roxicodone. Please let me know what you think... ## what's the difference between the old ones in that say op instead of oc ..... I think they're like the footballs ????? is this an accurate assumption ? ## Is the a time release on the blue 30 mg Oxus with R 215 ## I have 30 mg oxy hcl white pill imprint 114. What does HCI mean on OxyContin packet . ## HCL stands for hydrochloride, it just designates the specific chemical salt that the medication is derived from. It's basically all Oxycodone HCL. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I took my first Oxy 60 OP. It did not work well...reminded me of the generic ones a few years ago. Will Purdue ever go back to the Oc formula? ## They are not intending to, at the moment, however, many people have been reporting problems with this new formulation not working as well or causing odd side effects. I am in pain management and I currently take oxy 30mg 3x's a day... my doctor is willing to switch me to something else if I want, since the oxys do not provide enough relief. when I asked her what kind of dose I would start at the only thing she would match mg for mg would be morphine..opana she will only start me at 20mg 2 per day. does anyone know if this would be equal to the oxy I take now?? I have read all about how opana is supposed to be about twice as strong as oxy but still I was afraid to switch.. also, does opana " feel " the same as oxy??? thanks to all for reading and replying, HOUSE ## Hello, House! How are you? Morphine is actually weaker than Oxycodone, so matching mg for mg likely won't work. If you were taking 30mgs of Oxycontin, you'd need 45mgs o...

My daughter is in stage 4 lung cancer. Her liver levels were very high. Is it caused by OxyContin (60mg)? ## Hi Chi, I'm very sorry to hear about your daughter's condition. According to NIH.gov, "Oxycodone by itself has not been linked to serum enzyme elevations during therapy or to clinically apparent liver injury." However, they go on to note that the combination of oxycodone with acetaminophen is linked to many cases of acute liver failure caused by an unintentional overdose of acetaminophen. Source: livertox.nih.gov/Oxycodone Having said this, my theory is that OxyContin isn't the culprit. Is your daughter taking anything else or undergoing chemo? I hope she makes a full recovery.

I take 160mill of oxycotin 2 times a day and roxi 30 mill every 3 hours for breakthrough pain. What is the difference in the meds? Also I have the generic oxycontin, 80 mill is it different than the brand name? I ask because they dont seem to effect me like the oxys I recived in the hosbital. The generic pill is lite green and oval is this the same ? ## Does the so called generic oxycontin say oc on one side and 80 on the other? The name brand are lite green with those letters and numbers. The generic form should work just the same. Perhaps you are just working up a tolerance to them. Roxi's are oxycodone just like the oxycontin is; however, the oxcycontin are time-released over an 8 or 12 hour period, (depending on what you are on.) The roxicet is the same as percocet. I dont know ...

Have the Oxycontin been changed in Canada as well. I usually bounce between Dilaudid and Oxycontin for pain., wondering is I should stay on the Dilaudid this time ## oxycontin will be changed to a new formula in Canada in the very near future. ## I am not completely certain, but my guess would be that it has already been changed to the new formulation, or it will be changed very soon, as madatdopers has stated. My reasoning for this is because the name brand in Canada is also manufactured by Purdue Pharma, who made the changes to the U.S. formulation. Are there any questions or comments?

I have oxycontin 15 mg for cancer pain. Finding it difficult to determine how much is released into the bloodstream at intervals. Does it 'peak' at a certain time? Or, once it breaks down inside the body, is it an even release throughout the 12 hours? I'm imagining it is like taking 5 mg of oxycodone every 4 hours. Correct? Thanks! ## Hello, Matronum! How are you? The way it is made, the pill media slowly dissolves over a period of 12 hours, due to your stomach acid, so the medication is just very gradually release, rather than releasing boluses every so many hours. Think of an ice cube slowly melting in a warm room, it's really just drop, by drop, until it fully melts. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects,...

How Long Does It Take To Kick in? ## Hi Crps sucks, it shouldn't take any longer than 15-30 minutes. Unless u have a tolerance 2 them. Then it could take a little longer. Have u taken them b 4? Or on a regular basis? ## From what I've read online, 15 to 30 minutes is a good rough estimate... Although timing can also vary some depending on your own body, as well as if you've recently eaten something. I'd also like to add that the maximum/peak concentration of oxycontin is generally found in the bloodstream at about one hour after ingestion. Keeping in mind that this is a time-released formula, it probably won't have much of an immediate effect like the standard oxycodone would, if you're used to having those. I hope this helps! Are there any other questions?

I have been on OxyContin 60 mg. 3 time'sa day for about 6 or 7 year's. It woked GREAT. I have gotten 3 refill's of the NEW OxyContin they are not the same, they do not work as the old ones did, they do not last as long, it takes longer to take ANY kind of effect, I have went to the doctor, he does not want to change any thing, I called Purdu to find out how to get the old one's back, some one said if op is on the pill instead of oc it would be equal to the old one's. I dont know ! all I know is I went from being able to thing's to sitting in a chair or laying in a bed, I can not even get out of the tub now with out help, I have 6 grandchildren that I use to be able to play with (not for a long time, but now FORGET IT.) is there a way to take out the filler ## No, the new Oxycontin OP has been specifically designed to prevent people from doing just that. They are trying to curtail abuse of the medication. It is, however, still supposed to work the same and can cause the same side effects: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. Do you have any other questions? ## the new reformulated drug oxycontin op does not have the same effects and pain relief that the oxycontin oc brand has.what should i do?I am on oxycontin 80 oc mg. ## Its not reformulated . And its the same molecular structure as the o.c. you were probably abusing the o.c. which made them into instant release. ## Verwon, the questioner specified OC, NOT OP. The answer is that if you want a SOLUTION which will be instantly available to t...

There is no roxicontin its roxicodone 5, 10,15 and 30mg. Then they have oxyir, oxycodone. Those are instant release! ## You are correct, the actual name of the medication is Oxycontin and it contains a time released formulation of Oxycodone. Thus, it has the same active ingredient as the others you've mentioned, but it is taken every 12 hours. Learn more Oxycontin details here. Are there any questions or comments?
