Does Methadone Go Bad

I am new to the methadone and was wondering why my doctor would put me on methadone when he knew I had been addicted to Oxycontin before and had to go into the hospital for the withdrawals. They put me on the liquid methadone to get me off of the Oxycontin. How bad is it going to be to get off of the methadone if that time ever comes? hi tommorrow we waiting a storm in Philadelhia PA area, public transportation is shutdown tomorrow, my clinic is almost 7 miles distance from my house.. can I get my medication in a different clinic or some hospital? ## I would suggest calling your clinic and asking them what they recommend. Learn more Methadone details here. A hospital likely won't help much, because they won't treat you, unless you are already actively in dangerous withdrawals. You can't just go in and get a dose to prevent them. But they may be able to make arrangements with a closer clinic for you to get your medication, or make it so you can get a dose from a local pharmacy. I am on a very low dose of methadone now. My doctor is terrified to increase it. It's obvious I need more but I'm a bit skeptical to of this leading to a never ending rise. But I'm topping up and I'm sick and in pain. He seems terrified to prescribe anything though. Are all docs like this or just some? I also have very bad problems with anxiety ruining my life. Nightmares, ptsd, etc. A pharmacist said I should be on klonopin for the night mares and the night pains. But that's another drug he won't hear of giving me. Am I with the wrong guy? Is it OK to take these together not at same time. I have been prescribed methadone for my pain for several years but I have needed Valium for my spasms and I also have anxiety fairly bad plus it calms my brain down at night so I can relax and sleep and that makes me feel better anyway I have discussed this with my primary dr. I take suboxone. I'm really trying to be 100% clean. I ran out of suboxone early and took 3 10mg methadone pills. I have never taken them before. I don't know if I should let them dissolve or how the mgs compare to a suboxone. I'm not looking to feel high. Just trying to end this disaster I got myself into. i am a 23 year old four time cancer survivor with chronic pain. i take methadone but was dropped cold turkey from my clinic and have serious withdrawal if theres anyone in the pittsburgh area that can help please do. My husband has Narcolepsy and has started taking Nuvigil. He has been on Methadone for almost two months now.H e complains that he feels bad by evening time. Is it one of the drugs or mixing them? I was taking 69 mg methadone every morning at the clinic I've been going down 2 mg a week I'm at 8mg now till Friday am I gonna get sick or do OK with no withdrawls ## Hello, Jaymee! How are you? I have been clean from methadone for 3 weeks now, after 10 days I started feeling a lot better. Withdrawals were not too bad, just weak and no energy. I was on them for 3 years and tapered down to 4mg before I completely quit. I feel pretty good id say. But was wondering if i were to take my norco prescription, will i get sick all over again? How long should I wait? Or if i take a methadone will i get sick? ## If you start taking Norco they will probably not make you sick until you stop taking them. Why are you taking the Norco if you are feeling pretty good. I've been on methadone now for about 5 months. It's a pretty low dose. I also unfortunately top it up with alot of codeine. I have a really great doctor and team who are doing their best to help me and I am a difficult client! Anyway, long story short, the last 6 weeks or so I am in alot of pain at night time. I mean alot. It's extreme cramping and muscle pain. It lasts into the morning and I walk badly for the first hour or so after getting up. I'm plagued with nightmares too. I think I suffer from ptsd.
