Learn more Metformin details here. It could even just be that the current dosage is too hight for you, because that can also be an overdose symptom. What have you been advised? I suffered profound and sudden hearing loss just a few weeks after my physician put me on Metformin 500s, and I strongly suspect this medication. I am not even pre-diabetic, and have a healthy diet, just a body that has been stubborn to lost adipose tissue in my mid-50s, although my cholesterol is 70 and BP is usually 110/70 with blood sugar on the low side. He prescribed Metformin, thinking it may 'trick' my body into whatever, but I've read something about the activity involved in the inner ear area with chemical change, and highly suspect this in my unilateral hearing loss, right ear. I've been to Univ of AL for three proc now, nine trips, to no avail, with no insurance....screwed ## Hello, Feltygal! How are you? I'm very sorry about the hearing loss. However, Met...

I take extended realice metformin my blood sugar high till2 pm does not work fast enough what can I do ## Hello, Jean! How are you? What type of foods do you eat? That can have a great effect of your sugar level, because the medication isn't going to do every thing. Anything with simple sugars, such as sweets and fruits will cause elevations, so will anything high in fat. Do you also exercise each day? That is also vital towards controlling your blood sugar. What dose of Metformin do you take?

Are the Metformin 500 mg tab Sandoz used to control high blood sugar? ## Hello, Based on my research, Metformin belongs to the class of medications called "oral hypoglycemics", which are medications that lower blood sugar. It is used to control blood glucose (blood sugar) for people with type 2 diabetes. It is used when diet, exercise, and weight reduction have not been found to lower blood glucose well enough on their own. Metformin works by reducing the amount of glucose made by the liver and by making it easier for glucose to enter into the tissues of the body. Metformin has been found to be especially useful in delaying problems associated with diabetes for overweight people with diabetes. NOTE: studies have proved that a low fat raw vegan diet can reverse and cure diabetes ...

Is it possible to get a prescription for Metforman/glucophage online or to find it online? I am worried, because I have been gaining weight rapidly this past year. I am morbidly obese, and my doctors will not help me because my A1c was only 5.5. I am worried about type 2 diabetes, and I think my A1c is high enough that medicine may benefit me, even though I am technically not diabetic yet. I have read about diabetics who get their A1c below 5.5 with metformin, and there seem to be no adverse affects even when they continue taking the medicine at these levels. I am also having problems with ovulation and was recently diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia, a condition associated with insulin resistance. I have been struggling to conceive for three years now. Ultrasound shows no evidence ...

Muscle weakness over both shoulders just once or twice a day, extreme thurst, increased hunger, confusion came and went.....as per doctors advise , I went to 1/2 the medicine, did better for a day- better digestion, frequent urination made me lose water weight but on the third day, I got those same system.... ## Hello, Sonal! How are you doing? It is normal to experience side effects, when you first start taking a medication, because your body needs to get used to it. They will usually wear off after about 4 weeks or so, once your body adjusts. This is working to lower you blood sugar, which means that it must have been high and it's actually elevated sugar levels that cause the thirst, hunger and increased...

I have some white oblong white tablets scored on one side and printed M525 on the other. I believe these are Ascend Labs Metformin HCL ER 500 mg tablets from a couple of months ago that I didnt finish up when I got my refill prescription. They also could be a different brand that the pharmacy used to fill my prescription. ## These tablets are manufactured by Mylan Pharmaceuticals and they list them as containing 120mgs of Diltiazem. The FDA classifies this medication as a calcium channel blocker that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. I JUST GOT A REFILL ON MY METFORMIN. THE NEW NAME ON IT IS AMNEAL AND IT IS LIKE NOT TAKING ANYTHING AT ALL. MY SUGARS HAVE BEEN IN THE 340 RANGE. MY SUGARS HAVE NEVER BEEN THIS HIGH. I BELIEVE MY PREVIOUS BRAND NAME WAS EITHER SOLCO OR WATSON. ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHAT I SHOULD DO? ## Hello, Dooda! How are you doing? Has there been any change? With sugar levels that high, you need to see your doctor. If the pills from Amneal aren't working for you, you may need to switch to a different medication for awhile. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Metformin as possibly including nausea, dizziness, flatulence, stomach pain and hypoglycemia. Are you on any other medications? ## I have the same problem with Amneal Metformin...it's like I'm not taking anything at all.

Can metformin 850 mg can cause a loss in weight of the diabetic? Thanks ## I've been diabetic since 2000 and have been controlling it by diet, but after 6 yrs it is not in control so i started metformin 500 x 2 daily. But after, in 2010 my sugar was staying too high so i was prescribed janumet which caused me to gain 5kgs in a year. Plus my feet hurt a lot and I'm feeling very weak. Please help me. ## Sandy, many type 2 diabetics tend to have gained weight from the diabetes, then they will lose some once they start getting it under control, such as by using the medication. However, if it's a severe weight loss, then you should seek medical attention to have it checked out. Rozy, how have your blood sugar levels been recently? Are you also continuing to watch what you eat? ##...

I weigh myself twice weekly, my scale tells me I have gained 4 pounds over a short period. I have been on Metformin 750 for over a year. My concern is this rapid gain. Can anyone tell me about their experience and what they found to keep weight stable. My diet includes fresh fruit , low carb vegetables, some whole grain bread, and whole wheat pasta. I noticed recently though snacking on nuts mixed in dried fruit. ## How rapidly have you gained weight? The NIH does warn that diabetes itself can cause weight changes, however there are other issues that could cause it, as well, such as high blood pressure, edema, or a heart condition. Thus, the safest thing to do would be to have this checked out by your medical provider, for your own safety. How much are you snacking? Some nuts can contai...

I was on Metformin for 25 years. Dr told me to stop using it switch to Gilpizide because I am 80 years old. Apparently it could take you out in that age group. Cold turkey, I had severe chills for a couple of days accompanied by muscle and joint pains and a headache. Day 10 was somewhat improved as far as chills go. I am hanging in there with the glipizide Dose that was doubled. But the glucose level is still high. DDose that was doubled edzide ## Experiencing withdrawal effects is normal when you stop a medication cold turkey, after being on it for so many years, according to the NIH. It is likely also coupled with side effects from starting the new one, so a kind of double whammy. The FDA lists the side effects of Glipizide as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pa...

When I get my Metformin script filled in CVS in NY it's a different pill than when I get it filled in Florida CVS. Both are apparently Metformin but since they are from different manufacturers is the efficacy the same? ## Hello, Lolalulu! How are you? Yes, any prescription medication that's available from your pharmacy in the U.S. has had to pass the same strict quality and efficacy standards, it applies uniformly to all generic manufactures. Is there anything else I can help with? ## They don't check every batch of metformin coming into the country so who knows what the heck you are getting in these generic pills.... Doctor put me on Metformin, two days after I started experiencing severe stomach pain and tinnitus in one ear. Went to ER, told it was side effects of this drug. I stopped taking Metformin. The stomach pain stopped but I still after 7 days have the tinnitus in my ear. I have read several forums that talk about ringing in the ears while on this medication. I started taking B12 to see if that would help but nothing so far. Has anyone experienced hearing loss after or while taking Metformin? My doctor never told me of this side effect. I think it should be shown as a definite side effect of this drug. ## Hello, Bill! How are you? Yes, those can be side effects of this medication, however, they can also be side effects of uncontrolled diabetes and high blood pressure, as reported by the NIH...

I stopped because of stomach pain from the chinese manu that seemed to win all the local contracts. High A1C as a result of these games. ## To clear up some things asked about or mentioned in these posts… No, it is not safe to cut any tablet that is time released, as denoted by the ER in the first post. Doing say may result in your getting too much of the medication, at once, which could lead to overdose. However, the tablet made by Teva with the 93 48 marking is not a time release...

I take this medication, but I am having trouble keeping my sugar down. It has been running high for a few weeks. My question is- can I take more Metformin to regulate my sugar? It is highest at night. I take 2 per day which is what is prescribed. Can I also take one before I go to bed? ## Just add Fenfuro in your existing medicinal regime and feel the results within 3-6 months. ## I wouldn't suggest changing your medication, without first consulting your doctor. They are the ones who will best know how to help you with your problem. Another thing that you have to take in consideration is your diet, if you are still continuing to just eat whatever you want, including foods that contain high amounts of fats and sugars, you can't expect this medication to be able to completely cont...
