can you take more than 15mg a day of meloxicam

Dr has put me on Meloxicam for the arthritis in my hands and shoulders, ever sense I have been on it I have had a low grade headache. It seems to work well having reduced the pain in my hands but this headache is something I don't want to live with. Is a headache a common side affect of this drug. My doc seems to think it will go away in time. ## I started this drug. 15mg. Two hours after taking this I experience numbness of my upper lip and side of my nose. Should I stop taking this drug.
