Is ranitidine still safe to take after the expiration/discard date? Mine is 10/10/12. ## Hello, Linda! How are you? Most medications, such as Ranitidine, don't get dangerous when expired, but they do begin to lose efficacy after that point. Thus, the older they are, the less they are going to work. Just started 2mg tablet today and was wondering if they can be cut in half? reason being it may be too strong (gave me diarrhea) after a couple of hrs "much to my shock/surprise" (and headache) and they are so expensive in Australia - G'day all. I have the fexofenadine hydrochloride tablets in 180 mg dosage. Question: they seem too strong for me--can i split them in half? ## Is there a score line (indent) on the pill? If there is, then it is there specifically for the purpose of cutting the pill in half. Whether or not there is a score line, I would still cut the pill in half if it is needed. Maybe talk to your doctor about getting a lower dose of this medication if you consistently feel the need to use half a dose. NOTE: cutting a pill in half only works if the pill is in tablet form. This just wouldn't work if it is a capsule, since the contents would fall out.
