Does Hydrocodone Contain Codeine

I am allergic to morphine, Demerol and codeine. I itched all over my head and ears when taking a hydrocodone/acetemetephine yesterday. Am I allergic to hydro now? ## Hello, Carol! How are you doing? Has there been any change? It is common for someone that's allergic to one medication to discover the are also allergic to others, according to reports by the FDA. Thus, it would be best to have this checked out, those could be symptoms of an allergic reaction, and if they are, they could get worse with repeated exposure, according to NIH studies. Norco is the brand name by Watson for 10mg Hydrocodone and 325mg of acetaminophen, they also make the generic. Norco is yellow in color and caplet shaped.Originally it was only 10mg, now it's 7.5 and 5, hydrocodone and the same Tylenol in all. Has no codiene in it. I have chronic spine and hip pain from scoliosis and fibromyalgia. I took Vicodin for several years back when it did not have a generic and it did a good job for pain relief. The generic, Hydrocodone, supposedly has the same exact ingredient of codeine in the 5-300 cap, but does not give me pain relief. I take 8 - 30mg Codeine daily, put some days need a bit more. I have some Hydrocodone 5/ace 500. can I add one or two of these, or take additional Codeine ## You can take 60 mg of Codeine every 4 hrs. But, if they contain 500 mg of tylenol instead of 325 mg, you can only take 2 every 6 hrs due to the high amount of tylenol. Hydrocodone is stronger that Codeine, so you may want to take the hydrocodone only instead.

The only thing it would do for an infection is treat the pain and fever that it may cause, it wouldn't actually treat the infection itself. The Cheratussin AC contains Codeine and Guaifenesin, so it isn't the same, because this would be used mostly to treat cough and cold symptoms. Does anyone experience itching of the throat when taking this medication. Just my throat itches, I do not have an itching sensation anywhere else. Nor do I have a rash or hives. Will paracod stop the pain like hydrocodone will? I have been on hydro for a couple of months and my doctor wants to change to paracod. Will it help? He says it's the same thing. Is Hydrocodone the same or contain the same ingredients/drugs as Tylenol 3 with codiene? ## From what I could gather, Tylenol 3 is composed of two analgesic or pain-relieving drugs: acetaminophen + codeine. Inactive ingredients complete the composition of this medication. So to better answer your question, hydrocodone is not the same, nor is it even contained in this medication. You might be thinking of norco or lortab, which contain a similar combination of acetaminophen + hydrocodone. Both medications are used for pain relief, but I'd consider hydrocodone to be much more potent than codeine from my own experience. If your doctor/surgeon was aware of this allergy prior to writing your script, then it's likely that he/she did so with your best interest in mind.
