Thankyou. ## Hi that will be just has good but you must aske for tablets for break away pain as i am on 60mg of morphine twice daily but you must aske your doctor for oxycodone as that will work straight away morphine slow release doesnt i hope this helps i live in england i am lucky we dont pay for our perscriptions all the best carolx ## Fentanyl is actually over 80 times stronger than Morphine and while they are both effective narcotics, you may need to work with your doctor to get the dosing just right for you to handle your pain. The side effects will also be very similar, so you may experience: nausea, diz... ...

is fentanyl really 80x stronger than morphine?
if fentanyl is 80x stronger than morphine, how much morphine will I have to take if I'm on 25mg fentanyl. sounds scary ## Hello, Kim! How are you? You're on 25mcgs of Fentanyl? You'd need only about 7.5mgs of Morphine. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ...

fentanyl
it is a patch that is called transdermal system and it says 25 mcg/hr and also says each transdermal system contains: 2.55 mg fentanyl Iam a first time user on this meaication what would it do to me????? ## Well, this can have some adverse effects. I am not sure if you have previously used narcotics, I know this should not be used by anyone who has not already built up a narcotic tolerance as it is a very, very strong med. 80 times stronger than Morphine as a matter of fact. My doctor tried taking from Darvocet to the patch 25s and I was so sick, for days, that I couldn't even hold down water, even when she gave me the strongest antinausea that she could. Some people love these, they can work wonders for pain, but they don't agree with some people, so you will basically have to ... ...

Fentanyl
I have been weaning myself off Methadone! I was taking 10mgs 3 times a day. I am now down to less than one tablet a day and will continue until I can say goodby Methadone and I never want to see you again. Now to my real problem. Last week my doctor gave me the Fentanyl 25 MCG/HR Patch MYL. I need something to help with the pain I still have although the Lyrica and Cymbalta have really helped. I did not when she gave the Fentanyl Patch to me that I would have to taper off and that it carried baggage of bad side affects. I have read the messages here and have decided not to use the Fentanyl. Thanks to everyone! ## Sorry, I forgot to tell you that I have Fibromyalgia and IT IS REAL!!!!!!!!! ## That is true, the Fentanyl is a very potent narcotic, over 80 times stronger than Morphine and i... ...

Morphine Patch
My mother has spinal stenosis which cases her great pain. She uses B transpatches 50. which provides no relief. What could be used as an alternative? She is 84. ## I have cervical spinal stenosis. I have used fentanyl patches and lollipops in the past to control my pain. It is very strong but can be given in very small doses and due to her age I doubt a pain specialist would give her any grief over it. Dilaudid also works well for me but I am a poor metaboliser so not many opiatess work for me. You might want to ask about either one of these pain meds. ## Yes, the Fentanyl patches are also what I would suggest asking her doctor about, it is a very strong narcotic, over 80 times stronger than the Morphine, so the patches come in either 0.25mcgs or 0.50mcgs. They are time released and eac... ...

Does 30mg Of Morphine Sulfate Relieve More Pain Than 50mcg Fentanyl Patches
My pain Dr.had me on 30mg. of morphine sulfate 3 times per day & switched me to 50 mcg. Fentanyl patches at 1 every 3 days. The morphine was keeping me up at night & did'nt seem to ease the pain.Second day on the patch & it does'nt stop the pain either any suggestions will be truely appreciated..Thanx ## I don't have an exact answer to your question, since everyone responds differently to both of these medications (based on tolerance, etc). However, according to numerous articles, Fentanyl is said to be approximately 100 times more potent than Morphine, with 100 micrograms of Fentanyl approximately equivalent to 10 mg of Morphine in analgesic activity (or in regards to pain relief). I hope this information helps! ## You need to give it a little time. I am on 75 ev... ...

morphine sulphate er and ir vrs hydrocodone with fentanyl patch
for 3 years my dr. was prescribing me three 60mg morphine sulphate er and four 30mg ms ir daily. when it became impossible to get MS in Florida, he switched me to Fentanyl patch 12MCG/HR every 3 days and 7.5mg-200 hydrocordone , 1 every 8 hours. the pain was unbearable and I felt terrible. cold sweats, shakes, could'nt think straight. when I asked him to increase dosage, he increased the patch to 25 MCG, but said there was more MS in the 7.5-200 hydrocodone than the 30mg tabs of ms. do you agree? Also, how does the patch equate to the Three 60MG MS er I was taking daily? Prior to this Dr.,after I moved 200 miles away,, my orthopedic surgeon was prescribing me Oxycontin, or oxycodone. When I called him 3 years ago and told him The new pain management Dr. switched to MS, he said its l... ...

fentanyl 1
if you take a 25 mg Fentanyl Patch and it is not that strong of a prescription for you, can you take additonal painkillers like vicodin as needed? Like taking a few vicodin every few hours during the day while on the patch. ## Please DON'T first stop the Fentanyl It's a nightmare!!!! You are on a path you don't want to travel. Find another way, PLEASE for your own sake!!! ## Fentanyl is 80times stronger than Morphine, therefore, I guarantee it is STRONG for you! Mixing it with other narcotics would be extremely dangerous, it is highly addictive and you run the risk of overdose, with possible fatal consequences. Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You can read more about this medication here: This is one of the MOST PO... ...

Article Stub: 'Actiq, a powerful synthetic opioid, became a Cephalon product in July 2000, when the company acquired Salt Lake City's Anesta Corp. in a $444 million stock exchange deal. Also known as Fentanyl, it is typically prescribed as an anesthetic for cancer-related pain; it is delivered in berry-flavored, lollipop-type lozenges - usually used by child patients - as well as transdermal patches and by injection.' Fentanyl Pain Patch
Can I just stop taking fentanyl patch 25? ## No you risk suffering from opiate withdrawal if you have been on the medication for any length of time say for more than a few months. Opiate withdrawal is extremely painful and very unnecessary especially if you have a legitimate prescription for it. ## That is correct, while it may seem small, since the dosage is only 25mcgs, Fentanyl is actually a very potent narcotic. It is actually over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Therefore, if you have been taking it for awhile and want to stop using it, you should seek medical assistance for the best way to taper off, while minimizing the withdrawal and rebound effects. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Of of 25 is minuscule I'm on 150!,... ## Ahhh...ok,here's my situation...I ... ...

Fentanyl 50 Mcg H And Morphine Sulfate Cr 30 Mg Tab Togather Together
Can fentanyl 50 mcg/h and morphine sulfate cr 30 mg tab , be taken togather at the same time ? ## Have you consulted a doctor? Where they prescribed to be used together? Since these are both controlled release medications, they are rarely used together, in this manner, due to the risks it can cause, since they both cause depression of the central nervous system. This is usually only done in cases of very severe, chronic pain, where the person has already built up a tolerance to the narcotics and is no longer getting effective relief from them. Normally, if someone is using the Fentanyl patch and requires a medication for breakthrough pain, they are given a regular release or instant release medication. ## Did a doctor prescribe these? If so, did one doctor prescribe the morphine and one... ...

morphine to methadone
I am currently on 54 ml. of Ordine 10, 150 mg Fentanyl patch, and 80 mg Targin equivalent to about 1,200 mg of morphine a day . my pain specialist wants me to change to methadone or suboxone what are your thoughts. Thanks in advance ## Hello, Allan! How are you? Most people have said that Suboxone didn't do much for their pain, so if you need pain relief, you might be better off with the Methadone. I've never taken either one myself, I am just stating what I've learned from other posters on this site. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Does anyone else have any advice to offer? ...

Oxycontin Vs Morphine
I was taking 4 80 mg oxys daily my doc put me on 2 100 mg teva morphines will it help the same and will i go through withdraw thank you ## There may be some issues here, because the Oxycodone is actually 1 and a half time stronger than the Morphine, so you'd need 120mgs of Morphine to equal each 80mg dose you were taking of the Oxycodone. Learn more Oxycodone details here. Learn more Morphine details here. Why did he change your medication? ## Pain Meds 101: For chronic pain management...the best result is almost always a long acting med (OxyCONTIN (currently no generic so $$$), Morphine Sulfate E/R extended release, Opana (not my particular fave), Fentanyl Patches and Exalgo). Only the latter are taken 1x per day..the others are SUPPOSED to be 12 hr meds to be taken 2x a day but mo... ...

coming off fentanyl patch
I recently went through bilateral mastectomy due to breast cancer. Chemo & herceptin treatments all done, but because of continual pain I was on percocet for a year, and then switched to 12mcg fentanyl patch, and recently up to a 25mcg patch. I do not want to keep taking these pain meds. So....I stopped cold turkey the patch and I am not able to sleep at night, restless body syndrome, hot & cold spells & extreme anxiety. What can I do to help with these symptoms & how long before it will take me to get through this withdrawal time? Do I need to call my doctor? ## Hello, Linda! How are you doing? I am very sorry that you had cancer. Fentanyl is a very potent narcotic, it is 81 times stronger than Morphine and you went cold turkey off of it, so the symptoms you've been... ...

MORPHINE 15 MG TABS 4 X DAILY
I have been being treated for chronic pain off and on for years. Recently i've been on the fentanyl 75 mcg every 3 days and the morphine 15 mg at 4 x daily. Well recently i was having extreme pain from my lower back buttocks and down my legs to the point i couldn't walk so my reg physician thought it was trauma from my sciatic nerve so she referred me to a doctor that is a neurologist named Dr Sawhney in Crain Towers, well before i even had a chance to go to her i had to go to the ER which they agreed with the sciatic nerve. I could not even walk into her office and she didn't even take the time to look at my diagnoses or my list of the different things i suffer from. All she did was see that i was on the pain meds and told me i was a drug addict and that all i needed was de... ...

morphine pops what are they
what are morphine pops and what drs use them to treat pain in nj tri state area ## That's actually a misunderstanding, they don't contain Morphine. The brand name is Actiq and they actually contain Fentanyl, which is over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Learn more Fentanyl details here. And any doctor that is qualified to treat pain and write such prescriptions can prescribe them, but there is no databases of doctors that prescribe them. You'll need to see a doctor and discuss your treatment options. What pain medications do you currently take? ...

switching from hydrocodone to morphine
My wife is a chronic pain patient. Today she went to have her periodic office visit with her pain management physician. She has, for several years, been prescribed fentanyl transdermal patches, 75 mcg/hour, along with hydrocodone/apap 10/325, 1 or 2 tablets every 8 hours, PRN for breakthrough pain. She changes the patches every 72 hours. Today the Dr changed her treatment regimine changing the fentanyl to 100 mcg/hrs, changing patch every 48 hours. He took her off the hydrocodone/apap, and said if she still has breakthrough pain, that he will prescribe immediate release morphine to replace the hydrocodone/apap. Her Dr says that this is in response to new laws or guidelines from the DEA and FDA. Is this true? He said that they can't prescribe hydrocodone/apap for chronic pain any lon... ...

I have taken ns contin 60mg 4x a day for abot 10 years and roxicodone 15mg 4 x day for break through pain but it has got to where its not working now so what othwr medication do i have as another option ## Hello, Linda! How are you? Well, there are higher doses of both of these medications available. Additionally, there is a time released formulation of Oxycodone available, it's called Oxycontin and is stronger than the Morphine in the MS contin. Learn more Oxycontin details here. There is also a patch that contains Fentanyl, it is stronger than both the Morphine and the Oxycodone. Learn more Fentanyl details here. These are narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipatio... ...

Fentanyl Pain Patch Question
I am a chronic pain patient and I have slowly got off hydrocodone 10mg-325 acetaminophen and acetaminophen#4 due to stomach issues. I also take other meds cyclobenzaprine diazepam, nortriptyline . I was prescribed the 25mg patch. after reading info with meds it states DO NOT TAKE IF NOT ALREADY USING OPIOID PAIN MED. I am scared to death to try this med. Because I have not used pain meds continually in the last 6 months. Is this safe to start? ## Fentanyl is a very strong opiate narcotic, it is over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Learn more Fentanyl details here. The main issue I see with it, apart from it being so strong, is that it really leaves you nowhere else to go in the future. Generally, it should be the last resort medication, after other options have been exhausted, since th... ...

is it okay to chew a fentanyl 50mg pain patch
ive been given fentanyl 50mg pain patches an i was just wondering if its okay to cut one in half an chew on it? ## I would say definitely NOT - The Fentanyl transdermal patch is supposed to be absorbed by the body gradually. If you were to chew on it you would be taking a very dangerous risk - this is a very strong medication! Chewing on it would essentially release 3 days worth of of a narcotic into your body which is more powerful than morphine! Please post back with any other thoughts you have about this and please be safe! ## Obviously, chewing the patch is unsafe, but again...people are going to chew them. You can chew em as long as you take only small portions at a time. Just moderate yourself and don't overdue it. ## Keep in mind that fentanyl patches are close to 80 TIMES mo... ...
