Is the fentanyl patch the same as taking morphine? Does it have morphine in it? ## Hello, JB! How are you? No, Fentanyl is a different opiate analgesic. It's actually over 80 times stronger than Morphine. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## What can I take that is stronger than paracetamol am allergic to morphine ## I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia allergic to all kinds of medications but do take paracetamol and mobic antiflamatory. Is there anything else that does not contain morphine of is habit forming that I could take? I also have scolosis and arthritis and suffer a lot of pain. ...

How are you? Fentanyl is the strongest available, it's over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Your doctor will most likely have you start at the 25mcgs or 50mcgs dosage, since it's so potent to see how it works for you. if fentanyl is 80x stronger than morphine, how much morphine will I have to take if I'm on 25mg fentanyl. sounds scary ## Hello, Kim! How are you? You're on 25mcgs of Fentanyl? You'd need only about 7.5mgs of Morphine. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yes, Fentanyl is 80% stronger. ## None. If you are taking Fentanyl you should have no need to take morphine. ## I have been researching most of the day and absolutely cannot find an answer to my question. I have metastatic breast cancer. it is a patch that is called transdermal system and it says 25 mcg/hr and also says each transdermal system contains: 2.55 mg fentanyl Iam a first time user on this meaication what would it do to me????? ## Well, this can have some adverse effects. I am not sure if you have previously used narcotics, I know this should not be used by anyone who has not already built up a narcotic tolerance as it is a very, very strong med. 80 times stronger than Morphine as a matter of fact. My doctor tried taking from Darvocet to the patch 25s and I was so sick, for days, that I couldn't even hold down water, even when she gave me the strongest antinausea that she could. Some people love these, they can work wonders for pain, but they don't agree with some people, so you will basically have to ... ...

I have been weaning myself off Methadone! I was taking 10mgs 3 times a day. I am now down to less than one tablet a day and will continue until I can say goodby Methadone and I never want to see you again. Now to my real problem. Last week my doctor gave me the Fentanyl 25 MCG/HR Patch MYL. I need something to help with the pain I still have although the Lyrica and Cymbalta have really helped. I did not when she gave the Fentanyl Patch to me that I would have to taper off and that it carried baggage of bad side affects. I have read the messages here and have decided not to use the Fentanyl. Thanks to everyone! ## Sorry, I forgot to tell you that I have Fibromyalgia and IT IS REAL!!!!!!!!! ## That is true, the Fentanyl is a very potent narcotic, over 80 times stronger than Morphine and i... ...

My mother has spinal stenosis which cases her great pain. She uses B transpatches 50. which provides no relief. What could be used as an alternative? She is 84. ## I have cervical spinal stenosis. I have used fentanyl patches and lollipops in the past to control my pain. It is very strong but can be given in very small doses and due to her age I doubt a pain specialist would give her any grief over it. Dilaudid also works well for me but I am a poor metaboliser so not many opiatess work for me. You might want to ask about either one of these pain meds. ## Yes, the Fentanyl patches are also what I would suggest asking her doctor about, it is a very strong narcotic, over 80 times stronger than the Morphine, so the patches come in either 0.25mcgs or 0.50mcgs. They are time released and eac... ...

Does 30mg Of Morphine Sulfate Relieve More Pain Than 50mcg Fentanyl Patches

My pain Dr.had me on 30mg. of morphine sulfate 3 times per day & switched me to 50 mcg. Fentanyl patches at 1 every 3 days. The morphine was keeping me up at night & did'nt seem to ease the pain.Second day on the patch & it does'nt stop the pain either any suggestions will be truely appreciated..Thanx ## I don't have an exact answer to your question, since everyone responds differently to both of these medications (based on tolerance, etc). However, according to numerous articles, Fentanyl is said to be approximately 100 times more potent than Morphine, with 100 micrograms of Fentanyl approximately equivalent to 10 mg of Morphine in analgesic activity (or in regards to pain relief). I hope this information helps! ## You need to give it a little time. I am on 75 ev... ...

Find another way, PLEASE for your own sake!!! ## Fentanyl is 80times stronger than Morphine, therefore, I guarantee it is STRONG for you! I am currently prescribed fentanyl 25mcg and hydromorphone 4mg aka dilaudid. How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. The only Oxy IR dosage that is available is a 5mg capsule, there others are all either regular release or the extended release. I just started Opana 30mg twice a day and I didn't think it was working either, but 4 days into in, my pain has decreased from an 8 to a 2-3. You have to be patient and allow several days for it to reach a steady level in your system. Be will work. I have taken less breakthrough meds over the past several days than over the past 10 years. All I need now is 1-2 per day. If you are really looking for pain relief I would highly recommend the opana, and I have tried all but the fentanyl patches. If your looking for a high, don't bother....but they do make me a little sleepy but I will take that over pain anyday! ## Hello, Shelbygirl1970! Thank you for your very helpful post! 1 Reply RSS
An expired 5mg Fentanyl patch circa 1999 ... Can this be taken in lieu of Morphine 60mg? Safe? ## No, that patch is very old and likely retains no efficacy. All medications degrade over time and this one is quite old. It would be best to stick with your Morphine, as prescribed. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Fentanyl Pain Patch

Can I just stop taking fentanyl patch 25? ## No you risk suffering from opiate withdrawal if you have been on the medication for any length of time say for more than a few months. Opiate withdrawal is extremely painful and very unnecessary especially if you have a legitimate prescription for it. ## That is correct, while it may seem small, since the dosage is only 25mcgs, Fentanyl is actually a very potent narcotic. It is actually over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Therefore, if you have been taking it for awhile and want to stop using it, you should seek medical assistance for the best way to taper off, while minimizing the withdrawal and rebound effects. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Of of 25 is minuscule I'm on 150!,... ## Ahhh...ok,here's my situation...I ... ...

Fentanyl 50 Mcg H And Morphine Sulfate Cr 30 Mg Tab Togather Together
16 Replies RSS
Can fentanyl 50 mcg/h and morphine sulfate cr 30 mg tab , be taken togather at the same time ? ## Have you consulted a doctor? Where they prescribed to be used together? Since these are both controlled release medications, they are rarely used together, in this manner, due to the risks it can cause, since they both cause depression of the central nervous system. This is usually only done in cases of very severe, chronic pain, where the person has already built up a tolerance to the narcotics and is no longer getting effective relief from them. Normally, if someone is using the Fentanyl patch and requires a medication for breakthrough pain, they are given a regular release or instant release medication. ## Did a doctor prescribe these? If so, did one doctor prescribe the morphine and one... ...

Thanks in advance ## Hello, Allan! How are you? Most people have said that Suboxone didn't do much for their pain, so if you need pain relief, you might be better off with the Methadone. I've never taken either one myself, I am just stating what I've learned from other posters on this site. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
