I sm allergic to penicillin. Does betamox contain penicillin? ## No, this medication is listed as containing Amoxicillin. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic similar to Penicillin; they both contain sulfur, and have a similar taste (very unpleasant) and sulfur odor (easily detected during urination). i have been prescrbed calvepen for tonsilitus can i drink alcohol whilst taking them? ## Calvepen contains the active ingredient Penicillin; which does have an interaction with food/drink, but not anything specifically related to alcohol consumption. Information I've gathered states the following: "Adjust dosing interval: Certain penicillins may exhibit reduced gastrointestinal absorption in the presence of food. Red/gray pill. Oblong like capsule but not an actual capsule. It's broke in half with just the red side and very little of the gray side. The red side has imprint in black either the letter "O" or the number "0".
