Does Amox Clav Treat An Ear Infection

I was prescribed this 4 days ago for a horrible ear infection brought on by a sinus infection, and no relief. I am wondering if it's not bacterial and maybe should be prescribed something different to relieve the pressure and pain? ## Amoxicillin with Clavulanic Acid, the active ingredients in Augmentin, is an antibiotic that is used to treat certain types of infections. However, it can take 5 to 7 days to reach its full effect and will not work as a pain reliever. And, as with any medication, it doesn't always work for everyone that tries it, so if your pain, or infection have not improved, you should contact your doctor. I get ear infections often and the Dr. prescribed AMOX-CLAV 875MG, but I still have some of the medicine left from last year, is it ok to take it today or will a year old prescription give me side effects? ## Hello, Patty! How are you? I'm sorry about the ear infection, they can be quite painful. What is the expiration date on the prescription? It should be one year from whenever it was dispensed to you by your pharmacy. I have been on this for 9 days so far, total of 14 days needed, for a bad sinus infection. Today I wake up with a sore jaw, at the hinge right below my ear. Ive never had jaw problems. I do have an spot with my Dr tonight, I ass prescribed the amid clavicle by an urgent care Dr. Is it possible that this is a "side effect" or has anything to do with it. Not my first time on this ir other antibiotics. The only thing that I added was mast night I stared a 7 day Otc yeast infection treatment. Thank you antibiotics. What kind of an infection is this for and how does it interact with alcohol? ## Amoxicillin is used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria, such as pneumonia; bronchitis; gonorrhea; and infections of the ears, nose, throat, urinary tract, and skin.
