Florence SC, I am 56, have stage 3 -4 emphysema, I osteoarthritis, have been in some kind of pain since I was 5. I wore braces on my legs for years, had a hip replacement in 1997, 2. Back surgeries in 1999, the last one was a fusion. I use oxygen 24 hours a day. I was getting 90 hydrocodone 10/350 per month, but after having the shingles that effected the nerves in my brain (4th time with shingles in 8 months). I took additional medicibe to deal with the pain from the shingles. My doctor, sent me to a pain management doctor who was fired before my first visit. I have no one who will write my prescription now. And regardless of that, if your require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis for the treatment of chronic pain, you'll need to see a pain management specialist due to the new regulations that were put in place last year. Do you currently have a PCP that you see regular that may be able to refer you to someone? That might be the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need. I have 3 forms of breast cancer plus cervical cancer in 2011. since I had the chemo/radiation I have suffered from severe bone pain. I have taken vitamins, tramadol, oxycodone, hydrocodone and several others and they do not work. I regular physician is unable to prescribe stronger pains medication. I have gone to specialists and they do not know what is causing the severe bone pain. And the Doctors do not know who I should go to and what to do for me. I got stuck by an SUV while riding my bike to the park. this has been over a year and with out health insurance i my back and left shoulder am in a lot of pain. I had surgeory in 2010 for back,neck,both wrists in 2010 since then right after I moved from 1 house to another destroying ALL OF THE OPERATIONS ! I MOVED VERY HEAVY THINGS! I did not know! I have been a patient of Dr. in Kanas City for approximately 2 years. And he was very good in regards to providing pain meds that would last a month. But recently, and unknowingly I was prescribed 3 days worth of Percocet. Not until I got home from the pharmacy that they had prescribed a narcotic. Unfortunately While i was riding my bike the by the park a lady violently smashed into me with her SUV. I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I had been on hydrocodone for approximately 13 years until I had to change doctors. My new doctor didn't believe in pain medication. I have been off hydrocodone for nearly 3 years and my pain is getting really bad again. One doctor prescribed Tramadol but now that is a narcotic and the doctor will not prescribe it anymore. I have a pain pump installed and was on opana and soma 120 each a month and can't get a doctor here to give me any pain meds and family doc wants me to go to pain clinic but the ones here only do injections which do absolutely nothing for me, been there done that. I'm living in columbus ms and few doctors got shut down and nobody wants to see me cause i was seeing one of the doctors. I was in a bad wreck in 99 got thrown out of bronco and they had to fly me to chatt tn. I have a mri.
