Doctors Who Can Prescribe Methadone

I am addicted to strong pain meds and I am tired of having to come off of them, the withdrawal is awful. I went to a urgent care doc and was prescribed suboxone. I take anxiety meds too but he wants me to stop. I really need the anxiety meds but he wants me off them. How do I get him to change it from suboxone to methadone so I can take my anxiety meds? ## Legally, he can't. To get Methadone for addiction treatment in the U.S. requires that you go to an actual Methadone treating clinic, private doctors aren't allowed to prescribe it for addiction treatment. I am a 31 yr.old mother of 3 wonderful girls! I am in the process of trying to find a doctor that prescribes methadone for pain. I live in Ohio and I do know that they do exist! Bk in 2008 my mother went to doc in Springfield and was prescribed 80 mgs a day wich is equivalent to 240 a mth. If anyone knows of a good doctor please reply and let me know! Been on 60mg of methadone for the past 12 years, been seeing alta pain clinic in Sandy, Utah. I provided them with a copy of the EKG that I have an upper gi burning that they wanted to run few tests and one of them was EKG last August one of the urgent care after hours because it was on the weekend, alta pain been asking me to get an EKG for the past few months and i gave them the one I had by urgent care, when they looked at EKG they said oh you're fine you're very lucky because your heart is fine and it's okay, all the sudden as of January 1st visit He tells me that oh you have a QT prolongation your hearts we want to switch your med's, anyway they put me on Opana er 30 mg twice a day with a cocktail of oxycodone Ir 10mg 4 times a day and 10 mg Valium three times a day...

If he was taking it for addiction/maintenance treatment, then regular doctors have never been able to prescribe it for that. My mother was prescribed methadone for her Neuropathy while living in Florida. Since then she has moved back to Michigan by necessity. She left her job to move to Georgia with her husband who was a military vet. He got OxyContin from the V.A. Hospital in Atlanta for his back issues. With her having no insurance he used to share with her. Now he's dead and we moved her back here to Michigan. Struggled with severe migraines since childhood. Double Visio, nausea, was on imitrex, torodol, topaz, too many yo name. Finally found relief with generic hydro of one, but then decided to manage everything by switching to suboxone. Since the pain factor is not effected one way or another, a friend had mentioned her chronic pain controlled by methadone. Moving to Houston, Tx and looking for a doctor who will prescribe methadone. I have been on Methadone for Intractable Pain for over 10 years. She's been on 20 MG of methadone for 3 yrs for degenerative disc disease, she's also been in a bad car wreck AND hit by a truck while walking across the street (10 yrs ago) so she's got many sources of pain.
