My last withdrawl incident was so bad within 3 days I don't even remember half of what happened. ## It would be best to get medical help, to taper off slowly, that would help minimize the withdrawal symptoms, so they aren't so severe. As listed by the FDA, this medication is an opiate and its withdrawal symptoms may possibly include nausea, dizziness, chills, fever, rebound pain, headache and diarrhea. I kn...

Today is 04/2016. Can I take MiraLAX when it expired on 11/2015? If not, how do I dispose the of contents, down the sink or the toilet? ## According to the frequently asked questions on MiraLAX.com, "It is not recommended to use MiraLAX beyond the labeled expiration date.” As to the method of disposal, you should leave it in the sealed container and dispose of it with your regular household trash. Additional product information from DailyMed: [1] ## How long will the laxative Purelax work if it expired 12/15? ## I've never known Miralax to be a liquid so your answer isn't really an answer. Looking to find out if it's still safe to take when it expired over a year ago. Thank you, ## I took some from 2014 and this 2018 and it worked just as usual. In today’s ma...

Does amox tr-k have any potency left after 6 years? ## Hello, Barc! How are you? It's very doubtful, especially if it is in one of the bottles that pharmacies use, because even in the original factory sealed bottle, the maximum shelf-life of most pills is only 4 or 5 years. Taking an expired antibiotic is also not a good idea, since it creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. The FDA lists the typical antibiotic side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was given Oramoph back in January 2012 for acute pain, but was then managing well with Tramadol so put it in the cupboard, I am now in need of it once again but it says dispose 3 months after opening. Would I come to ay harm if i took it now? ## It may make you sick, as in causing nausea and vomiting. It likely will not work for your pain. Liquid medications have a very short shelf life, that's why the expiration date was 3 months, after that, they lose efficacy very quickly. Learn more Oramorph information here. Are there any comments or questions?

I found a fentanyl patch in the closet that's probably 3 months old , it wasnt ever used but it's out of its packaging . Can I still use it ? ## Hello Hunter, Yes like all medications they have an expiration date. I'm looking right now at some old 100mcg/hr for 72 hours that I use to use. I got them from the pharmacy about 6 months ago and their expiration date is Aug. 2016 So that would be about a 1 year and 8 months expiration since it was dispensed. As long as the backing hasn't been removed it should be OK and stick to the skin. Be sure to apply it where you have the most fat tissue for best absorption. DO NOT try and ingest any part of the patch's active ingredient. It can cause an overdose! The total amount of Fentanyl in the 100mcg/hr patch is 11mg total and t...

I have oxycodone 10’s (5 of them) and it looks like they got wet or something. The imprint is kind of faded. I can barely see the numbers and it didn’t take the pain away like it usually does. My question is, what could it be? Could they have gotten wet or is it a bad batch from the pharmacy? ## Hi Red, Sorry to hear about your situation. In my opinion I think you should contact your primary care physician since the pills are not working for you in the way that they normally do and explain the situation. Considering your pills are still in tact and the imprint is still legible he/she may be willing to refill your script or exchange them so that you are not taking partial doses of your medication. I suppose ultimately it would come down to your opinion of if the pills are sti...

I bought 100 amoxicillin caps about 3 years ago and stored them in a dark place and I was curious if they would still be good to take. ## does amoxicillin expire ## don't use it. amoxicillin goes bad a year from when you bought it. ## Actually, no, it does not go bad, it just loses efficacy, so it is not as strong or as potent as when you first bought, starting from about 18 months past the manufacture date. You should never self-diagnose or self-treat with antibiotics anyway, there are so many other conditions that will not respond to them, so they have no effect, and you of course run the risk of developing an antibiotic resistant strain of something with overuse, so please see your doctor. ## First of all, why do you just have the drug sitting around? Did you take it and not fini...

My son had an ear infection a month ago and was prescribed a 10 day course of Bactrim. He now has another ear infection and has been prescribed it again. Is it ok to use the bactrim left from a month ago or should I get the new script filled? Other antibiotics he's had have specifically said to throw away 14 days after mixing. ## Hi Miriam, by rights, your suppose 2 complete the whole course of antibiotics right away. Just because u or your so starts. 2 feel better b 4 your done the 10 day supply, u need 2 complete the 10 days. Maybe, that is why the infection came back. So, I would call the Dr and get a new prescription . Hope your son feels better. ## He did finish the 10 days but there was more than that in the bottle. ## Hello, Miriam! If it is a liquid then it should be dispose...

I am 35 and was recently hurt bad on a construction site. I've been getting 15mg oxycodone every month (the small round green ones). I've had the (M) brand the (V) brand the A 214 brand and all have been good. Tuesday I filled my script and they give me these large oval pills N/P ON ONE SIDE, 15 THE OTHER. Well they are so horrible - they are worse than Tylenol. They relieve no pain they don't help me sleep. No tired feeling or anything before I took 1. My pain level was a 10, and an hour later still a 10. They do not work. This morning I took a higher dose and felt no relief at all. 3 months ago was the first time I ever took a pain pill so it isn't me. If the pharmacy ever hands you this brand hand it right back or you will be furious. ## Hello, Tony! How are you? I am...

Multaq works quite good for me as I actively walk, swim and cycle with little if any consequence. As for the bad I am quite fatigued. House work and laundry often is put on the back burner. I am just finding out about the fatigue caused by the job. ## Multaq contains the active ingredient Dronedarone, it is used to treat Cardiac Arrhythmias. Common side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, headache and drowsiness. You can read more here: There are some other threads that include the experiences of other users: IS there anything I can help you with? ## Hmmm...It seems I made an error in my initial statement I am just finding out about the fatigue caused by the job. My son still has two bottles of amoxicillin liquid that has not been opened or used since the pharmacist made it. How long will it last if kept in the fridge ## Hi, Amanda! How are you? Yes, antibiotic suspensions start to lose their efficacy once expired and taking an antibiotic that is not fully effective can be dangerous, since it creates the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Such liquids are only good for 7 to 21 days, depending on the type. Learn more Amoxicillin details here. Why didn't your son finish the medication? Unless his doctor instructs otherwise, an antibiotic should always be finished to make sure that the infection is fully eradicated and to help prevent the development of the antibiotic resistant bacteria that I mentioned. ## I used it as directed ...

Hi, I was just wondering if liquid Amoxicillin actually goes bad & could possibly harm someone, or does it just lose its potency? For example, liquid Amoxicillin kept in fridge the whole time, not quite a month old...there's no expiration date anywhere on the bottle, & there was extra left over after it was administered correctly for 10 days. Does it "go bad"/spoil like a food would? Thanks! ## Hello, Ricky! How are you? Yes, it can go sour and, while it wouldn't actually be harmful, it could cause nausea, vomiting and stomach cramps, if taken once expired, as reported by the FDA. Most liquids are only good for a few weeks, but the pharmacy should be able to give a more precise date. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Amoxicillin is actually only good for...

Does ativan and methadone course bad mood swings she's gone nuts latly ## Hello, Bob! How are you? Yes, it could be due to either one, though the most likely culprit would be the Ativan, perhaps the combination of both, or it may be unrelated and do to hormones. If it's mainly irritability, then the Ativan or her hormones should be considered, because the Methadone will usually act as a downer and cause depression. How old is she? Both of these medications also carry the risk of being habit forming.

I am taking meloxicam 7.5 for RA and I feel great, I came back to a normal life, now the doctor tells me that I can have a heart attack as a result from taking this medication, is this a possibility based on the fact that it elevates the blood pressure or the fact is that it hamrs the heart? So confused, If I stop taking the only medication that has been helping me, probably I will be in a wheel chair soon. ## Hello, Gonza! How are you? Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so yes, there can be risks associated with long-term use of it. It may elevate your blood pressure, which could create the risk of a heart attack, stroke or congestive heart failure. It also creates the risk of developing liver damage or failure. What other medications have you tried? There are other options...

I had a cordizone shot in both knees three months ago and my right knee is bone on bone and the left one has very little cartilage. When the doctor gave me the shot in the left knee he may have hit a bone because I nearly went through the roof. The shots worked for about three days but the left knee feels like he just stuck me yesterday and hurts was worse than the right one that needs to be replaced. Do I replace the knee or get a second opinion? ## Hello, Dennis! How are you? It's actually more likely that he hit a nerve, which would explain the pain you're feeling. It is a risk associated with such shots, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience redness, swelling at the application site and stiffness. And yes, before any surgery, especially such a serious one, you should...
