Dimicron

My dad underwent oral surgery and cannot swallow. He is on a liquid diet and on this med. He is diabetic. The medicine is crushed and mixed with variety of food but he is not taking the medicine. It is extremely bitter. What can this powdered form be mixed with so that it helps him? Thanks ## Since this is a time released medication, it is not safe to crush it. That could result in overdose, because he may get too much of the medication, at once. It would be best to consult his doctor as he may need to switch to a regular release medication, for awhile, or possibly insulin. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain and flatulence. Is there anything else I can help with?
